Let's see. It's September 6th (in Japan) as we write this story. You'll recall that extremely tan Toshihiro Nagoshi announced back at the PlayStation Premier event that his team's new PS3 project would be formally unveiled at a Tokyo Game Show briefing to be held on September 14th.

14 - 6... carry the 1... 8!

Turning to Sega Japan's official Yakuza website, (http://ryu-ga-gotoku.com/) and what do we see? Why, it's a countdown message currently flashing the number "8" (it's written in Japanese, and there's a knife through the message, but it's definitely an 8).

Our conclusion? A new Yakuza game is going to be announced for the PS3 at a press conference on the 14th!

Don't take this to be official confirmation of a new Yakuza game. We do have some doubts, to be honest. Whatever game Nagoshi had in mind at thne Premier event, he referred to it as his "biggest production since having started work on consumer games," also promising that it would exceed Yakuza in its ability to move players. For the new game to be a new Yakuza title, it would require that Yakuza be exceeded by Yakuza, which has our heads spinning.

The new game also needs to have something to do with geisha girls, as Nagoshi was flanked by a couple at the Premier event and he said that they were a hint to his new project.

All will be cleared up late next week. Stay tuned!

Yakuza is awesome, it's my fav game last month which just reminded me of my thread.

It won't do anything for the PS3 when it comes to it's popularity or sales if it's exclusive but it will make me happy and after all, isn't that what Sony works for?
To make me, masteratt, happy?

^It may not do anything for PS3 worldwide. It'll be huge in Japan nonetheless.
