I think it is really a solid game, although with so much coming over the holidays i doubt Ill even have time to rent it. It does get repetitive even in the demo though, but what action is present is well done.


But none the less good to see demos continuing to hit PSN.

Ya, now after several months of demo drought and bad demos, we finally get the gravy.

I hope, there's a Lair demo soon though. I will playtest its controls before buying, thats for sure. And I hope, there's a R&C demo soon too (I won't be disappointed if there isnt one this or next week, but hopefully soon :P) as well as Uncharted :D


Now Sony just has to release some freaking PS1 games, prefereably MGS1 and FFVII til FFIX (as well as some other, which I probably forgot anyhow)

These games NEED to be released SOON :D Adding to that list Chrono Cross (or Trigger, I cant seem to distinguish those two), RE1 and 2 (won't be seen in Germany as they are effectively banned, similar to your US AO rating) and the Need for Speed games :D maybe some of the cool 2D shooters like 1942 or RType... The japs already got some of those games... SONY GET UP TO SPEED!

Just to let ya'll know, if you have forgotten. I would HIGHLY suggest if you are buying this game, to get the Collector's Edition. For $10 more you can get the movie Hard Boiled in HD on the same Blu-Ray disc as the game. A movie in HD for $10 thats basically a steal.

It was "fine" for a Max Payne clone... Though, the gameplay doesnt look nearly as "spectacular" as in the trailers at all...

Maybe a rental for me, but that's a big if (I liked Hard Boiled and Max Payne, so maybe I like this too)

I quite enjoyed it myself. Yeah, it's pretty repetitive though it's hard to judge if this would be the case the whole way though the game. I found it rather solid to be honest, but it certainly was by no means amazing. I'm tempted to purchase this with Hard Boiled.

Actually, the whole sliding a long tables and such did get a little annoying. Especially whenever you didn't want the little dude to do that. Shit, I totally forgot about the frame rate issue! Yeah, at two points I thought my PS3 was going to pop... It's... Clogs... Massive, massive slowdown.

I think it's funny how you're able to make Chow Yun Fat do some of the most ridiculous shit in the world. Sliding along concrete fountains, diving backwards down a flight of stairs (only to get back up by doing a backflip), etc... it's funny :-p

I really liked the demo..... I suppose I'm just one of the people who doesn't mind repetitive games. I spent nearly 2 years playing Diablo 2 (Single player) everyday for at least 10 hours so repetitive is no problem for me. Stranglehold has good..... focus I think. It isn't trying to be 1000 things at once. Also, I really like the animations. And the deaths!!! hehehehe. VERY funny in my opinion!!! hehehehe. Just like the 80ties action movies I grew up on.

When it comes FPS I'll generally pick it up on PC instead of console too (if I have that option). But if a console only game releases, such as Resistance, I find this control scheme gives a reasonable approximation of how I would expect it to behave on PC - albeit a bit clunky at times.

Maybe it was more the camera work than the controls themselves - in my opinion it would have made things quite a bit easier if it was fixed behind him ...or something, anything else. I imagine this free style camera has advantages over a fixed position but I'll damned if I'm gonna infuriate myself trying to find them out.

Or maybe my gamepad skills are just that horrible :(

I've canceled my preorder the releasedate is for a playstation 3 gamer a bad joke and the ps3 version has a lot of framerate drops.
