When in the fuck are we gonna get some more PS1 games?! Sony's sitting on way too many classick PSX titles to not drop any here for months on end.
I think this is yet ANOTHER great update for the US store as there's plently of content over the past two weeks. It's a shame to hear some people still complain whenever they clearly haven't had it as bad as us.
BTW, is this up now? Everytime I check the US store there's nothing there.

Ya, nothing there for me either...
Man, we got the MS updates and a Lair trailer... THATS IT...
SCEE should really get up to speed releasing stuff on PSN (especially PS1 games!)
I'm expecting them to drop a megaton bomb at some point for us. THEY BETTER!

I think the demo was running at 60 fps it seems pretty fluid...
The resolution is 720P and the hiphop sound track is hot.
The actual gameplay has significantly improved and they have attempted to do a more simulated style of play like NBA 2K, but it's not even close to the level of animation and AI depth of NBA 2K. The visuals are impressive and the players faces are spot on, but the crowd looks really odd... The first layer of the crowd looks detailed but everything else is sprites and it looks really odd during close up replays. Also, the AA looks a little off because I see jaggies on the player models and the overall textures look a little off.
*Can't put my finger on it, but somethings off...*
Overall the game has significantly improved, but still NBA 2K is king based on 2K7 IMO. This iteration of Live may give NBA 08 some competition...

hahahaha, the stranglehold demo is 1337 megabytes. Wokka wokka!

^ I can't remember the size of the 360 version, but damn...
It's a great demo that should keep you busy for an hour if you want all of the Tequila bombs...
The versions look identical, but the PS3 is a little crisper, but that's more than likely due to HDMI. Also, the sound seems a little better on the PS3 for some reason...

I was making a Leet/1337 joke.
Oh well.
anyway, I played it on my friend's 360, and was happy to show the demo off to my roommates just a while ago. Fun times, plan to pick this one up soon.
I noticed that too LaLi, it's okay.;)

WTF?
I cant believe the sound can be more worse lol.
From the Stranglehold demo thread:
Short version: Meh
Longer version: Meeh
Complete version: Meeeh, graphics nothing special, i think in some points it looks "ugh". Sound is the worsed ive heard on PS3 just HORRIBLE.
Controls are okay, and some cool style killings.
Had 2 EXTREME framerate slowdowns (unplayable for a couple of seconds) and the level design sucks.
Im pretty dissapointed and i didnt expect much...
So OmniCloud im with you (okay i played through the complete demo).

nba live looks fantastic but it has frame rate issues(sloooowdown). it plays pretty good.

it's so NOT fluid. it looks strange... it's like frame rate issues are part of a gameplay :)
and i will ask again.
does anyone brought motorstorm revange pack in us store and does it work with pal ps3/motorstorm ?

framerate issues are an understatement, it renders the game unplayable at times.
Cyrus
09-09-2007, 02:48 PM
Yeah but I think the framerate issues are due to a buggy/glitchy demo, not going to be like that in the final game.
I was seriously surprised by Live 08. I've played basketball for many years in the past so I love the sport and I used to play Live on PSone and the early PS2 titles. Lost a bit of interest after that but I definitely have to pick this or 2k8 up now. The presentation with the great commentators and the very nice animation are such a huge leap froward from the times I last played basketball games. Before the animations were not blended together at all so it felt pretty disjointed but nowadays it's a LOT more fluid and many times when taking the ball up the court with the point guard I was just amazed how freakin realistic it looked. A lot of the time it honestly looks like a real basketball match and not a video game, so much more subtle animations added there besides just the running/jumping/throwing stuff and better blending between them makes it even more believeable.

I agree up top...NBA Live was definitely not trash like the past few iterations...
I don't think it's as polished as 2k but it's at least a contender again. Live fans should like it...

I'm sure the people who made it are very intelligent, but that was just stupidity to think I would drop $60 bones for arcade-shooting Chinese voice-acting:rant:

None the less, the demo is what is supposed to make you want the game, so it should reflect the way the final game will play. How can it convince you to spend $60 when it slows down to a standstill at points?

 I didnt had ANY slowdown in the NBA demo. lol
Really it runs fluid for me..
Cyrus
09-09-2007, 09:08 PM
Yeah it does run very well. However the demo is glitchy. First match I played it ran perfectly until I paused the game and then unpaused. This caused the game to come to a crawl, like basically 20 FPS or something even lower. Next game when I started the demo it was like 25 FPS straight from the beginning. Next day I played it and it worked perfectly. Then some hours later my brother came over to try the game and again from the start it was like 20 FPS. So the demo is somehow very glitchy..

Btw. has someone the same problem as me with the Tiger Woods demo?
If you have to press X after the first hole it just makes "boop" and nothing happens.
I had that the first time i played it, i had to quit and start the demo new, it worked. But now everytime i try to come to the 2nd hole it just makes "boop".

its funny how some people have slowdown issues & some dont?

But now everytime i try to come to the 2nd hole it just makes "boop" Maybe you should try the different hole next time, not the boop hole /*runs*/
But seriously that demo didn't work at all for me, in the start screen it shows some garbled stuff in the background and in the play situation I recall hitting the ball and then it just went wild so I left it at that.
