That game is coming to PS3 I dont care what they say, theres no way a huge selling 3rd party game will stay exclusive. MS would'nt be that stupid and pay that much $$$ and Take TWO wouldn't be that stupid by not exposing the game to another userbase. Sony didn't even keep GTA completely exclusive, that wouldv'e been dumb, it only benefits your console for the first 6months or so. Bioshock is coming, expect an announcement early next year, i'll bet anything on that.
they will have to port it if they want to sell over a million copies this year.

I find it funny how everyone says OMG, if they want a bigger fanbase then they should port it, but then when PS exclusives are rumored to be ported, everyone says shit on how it is stupid, and how the xbox fanbase wouldn't like the certain game. Funny how opinions change like that.
I for one, am all for porting the game even though I already have it for the 360. Give more people a chance to experience the awesomeness lol.

Many posters, don't care about ports later on tho...just want the PS3 the main platform--the titles that gave Playstation the "playstation" status that is...
DMC, MGS, FF, GT, etc...
games coming out the same time for both platforms is the problem round here, we don't LIKE IT Dammit!!!!
lol--but yeah, I'm playing bioshock 2, but I'd buy it over for PS3, just to beat it again and add to my collection...

The game has sold 560k in US alone since it was released only 2-3 weeks ago. There is no telling how much it has sold in total, early reports indicate worldwide it has sold 1 million on 360 already, not counting the PC sales.
So yeah how about we make a trade..PS3 gets Bioshock...and 360 gets..hmm Metal Gear Solid 4

A FPS for a game that appeals to both American, European and Japanese gamers and has been one of the most talked about games since the days of the PS1... not a fair trade, lol.

XboxEvolved

Oh. I thought you guys were going to say it wouldn't be a fair trade because Bioshock was better than the last two Metal Gears, more innovative, wasn't beaten at it's own game in terms of gameplay by some other similiar(Splinter Cell) game, and is rated higher than any PS2 title, including MGS2/MGS3 AND MGS on PS1.
My bad though. Hey, I actually think I got a better, more fair trade for us all. :-) 360 gamers can get MGS4 for it's badass, non-playable cutscenes, and convulted, yet interesting story, and you guys can get Splinter Cell: Conviction so you actually have a game to play! :-)
seriously tho MGS1 is like one of my 5 top games of all time.

I think you are implying that MGS is FTW? Don't get me wrong, I love MGS, MGS series has a great cinematic value to it (which it actually owes a lot of that inspiration to SystemShock look it up n00bs), outstanding voice acting, -ok- story, and it drips with badass.
However, the past 2 games haven't really pushed the niche it carved out, whereas the Splinter Cell series has, to the point where I would call MGS "Arcade Spy Action" and Splinter Cell "Hardcore shit-ruining espionage"
From the looks of MGS4, it could be that big leap that MGS1 on PS1 was; MGS1 is what sold me on PS1, and to this day I think it holds it's own. MGS2-the first half of the game was utter perfection (besides some lackluster espionage), and then it all kind of, shitted out. Not just because of Raiden, but I don't know one fucking person that can still explain the entire plot, subplots, and story without their being massive plotholes in there. Oh, MGS: Twin Snakes was alright also.

Which is why everyone and his granddaddy refuses to let the MGS4 on 360 rumor go and no one could care less about where Splinter Cell ends up.
:Switches into fanboy mode:
FUCK SPLINTER CELL. All that game is, is trying to be MGS. Every time one comes out it's like, 'oh shit I think it's better than MGS, and a new MGS comes out and crushes it.' Have you seen Sam fischer lately? He's just trying to be Snake. Gimme a fucking break. The stories are boring, Sam Fischer isn't interesting, and there are no compelling characters in the whole damn series.
Solid Snake will be dead from FoxDie and still be able to kick Sam Fischers poser-wanna-be ass. Michael Ironside does a great job voicing Sam, but besides that fact I don't really give a shit about him. Splinter Cell is good, MGS influenced me as a creative thinker, story teller, and a person.
Bioshock is good, but number scaled ratings on video games is still one of the dumbest bullshit practices in the gaming industry. So fuck the higher number.
You can't put a number on fun.

Everything you said just proved my point, and shows that you aren't reading what I posted. I will completely agree with everything you said, and you didn't really defend any kind of position.
All I am saying is, is Splinter Cell has more innovative, harder, and deeper gameplay. Is it inspired by MGS? Yeah it is, but when talking about a game that deals with steath and espionage if you even suggest that MGS is better in that sense then, well sorry your wrong. Last I checked spies don't stand out in the fucking open fighting big ass robots with rail guns, and don't go sneaking around in fucking boxes.

By request for siraris I have opened this thread back up, sorry for making the thread off topic buddy. ANYWAYS maybe if you actually made a peition or posted the email for people to see Siraris this topic would have more to it?

I didn't want to start a comparison...
But honestly, Splinter Cell and MGS play completely different--and it's not in the same league as Metal Gear-PERIOD..
The game simply touches more levels and appeals to a wider audience than Splinter Cell.
and Splinter Cell has already debuted on a next-gen console as well? The comparison is off, this thread is about Bioshock anyway..
And no, MGS4 for Bioshock is not a fair trade.
another point to consider is the country and gaming media in the U.S. Sci-fi/realism/guts/gore--very very preferred by many American gamers I think. Of course there biases and preferences have a large impact on reviews and whatnot...
IMO--Bioshock is overrated. It's awesome, but these 9.7 and 10 were giving because the game is just really polished. Is it the best single player experience I ever had? NO Is it just that emotionally gripping and awesome? NO? It's just a very very good game? YES. I play it no more than I play Folklore:huh:
Media seems to just love FPS, and this is a good one thats actually not crap and does some new innovative thing. (telekinesis is awesome!)
It's not Metal Gear level stuff....Its not FF7 level stop...it's not God of War level stuff...it's not Legend of Zelda level stuff...its not Halo 1 level stuff...
Having said that, it is a great game and a good addition to PS3 if a port ever comes.
Now let's stop bickering like little bitches and go play Warhawk or something!!!

Well what happened here???
Anyways I wouldnt doubt we see a PS3 translation of Bioshock in the future anyways, T2 has gone on the record stating how important this title is to their company so a PS3 version would only increase the potential install base (although it is important for PS3 owners to start actually buying more 3rd party titles).
As far as MGS and Spl. Cell, what the hell is going on here guys?? The first MGS and Spl. Cell were two examples of classic gaming goodness and both series has its ups and downs, if anything I probably appreciate the MGS series more as a whole. But regardless it is going to take more than a few game conventions and some brief, "real time", cgi, gameplay, etc. demonstrations before they are going to stack up to Bioshock. Bioshock has proven its a great game, the ball is still out on Conviction and Guns of the Patriots.

Well I wasnt comparing Bioshock to MGS1 really, just stating that both MGS1 and Spl. Cell 1 were two of the classic titles in gaming. Im not saying MGS isnt going to be a good title simply that its months from release and outside of how good everyone "wants it to be" or "hopes it will be" we know relatively little about it, while Bioshock is on the top 5 highest rated games in history.

Probably one of my favorite games of all time was the Baldur's Gate series on the PC. Really opened up a lot of the rpg genre at the time and incorporated it into the D&D mythology. Excellent title/titles. As far as Im concerned better than any of the games spoken of here.

This post makes no sense.
First of all, deeper and more innovative gameplay? What the que? SC had deep gameplay??? I guarantee that the gameplay in MGS3 is far more varied and deep and intuitive than all the SC games combined for each of their best efforts.
Harder? Harder than MGS3 on European Extreme? No. Why would the 'harder' matter anyway?
Innovative? Sneaking around from hiding place A to hiding place B and turning off lights and having some more realism was innovative? That's a strong word for a small feat, maybe only lightly so.
And what does the unrealism of MGS have anything to do with anything? It's a freaking videogame, it can be whatever the hell it wants to be.
What a joke of a post... This whole comparison malarkey is just one serious demeanor to the past games of MGS. I could go to a movie forum and say The Godfather and Coppola need to have some directing lessons from the game creators of Mafia and I'd probably get a similar response, that one works on so many more levels with more depth and engagement and shows more colours and with vastly superior development, not to mention far better acting and camera work.

I loved the story, atmosphere, basically everything in Bioshock. And ususally I don't even like FPS's except for multiplayer purposes sometimes. I'll even go as far to say Bioshock is probably in my top 3 in gaming stories told in the game. But I will say that not everyone will enjoy it as much because of the dystopia sorta setting which goes on. It is sorta sci-fi mixed with some fantasy if I was to catagorize the story. And I will be the first to admit the ending is sort of weak, but the atmosphere, and other elements make up for it. Overall it is an awesome game, and I haven't been captured by a game like that since Disgaea for the PS2.

I played the demo on my roommate's XBox 360 and it didn't seem all that amazing to me. I wouldn't go around giving it a perfect 10.
Was it dark? Yeah
Was it pretty? That it was
That's about it in my book. Games were better back in the 90's.
Probably not. You just remember them being better. Nostalgia will trick you. But I wouldn't give Bioshock friggin 10s either.

I agree, but it does deserves 9's.
In my opinion very few games deserve perfect 10's. Actually right now MGS1 is the only one I can think of right now that deserves it. Maybe Super Mario 64.
But it doesn't take away from the fact that it is probably the best single player experence this gen so far. And it will probably stay that way till MGS4 comes out.

Contemplating on the situation wondering why this thread isn't part of elimination...
Anyway, I agree with Hisham, tad overrated, but yeah, best SP experience this gen....
I dunno about waiting till MGS4 tho, I think HS's story will be better...
Games that deserve 10's

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
MGS1

I totally agree with Hisham. Ten games should be farrrrr more rare. MGS1 was like perfection on 2 discs. I haven't played enough of Mario 64 but I'd take his word for it.
Stuff like CC or FF VII to IX, Goldeneye and etc, that's like 9.5ish and up material. I strongly feel that 'next gen' (lame...) games have been severely overrated.
MGS1 wasn't nostalgia for me though, I only played it recently lol, can't believe I missed it for so long :(

The lineage of Bioshock has enough history to compare to MGS. Just a matter of who you ask due to PC fans are much more hardcore for their favs (see CS, HL).

Just fyi.
System Shock - 92.5%
System Shock 2 - 92.2%
Bioshock - 95.7%
I am not saying it's better than MGS. I am saying that you shouldn't give it the blind eye because the series (as long as you count Bioshock apart of it) is an incredible series to behold. But hey, if you want to be a fanboi and not recognize other series by all means. If that's the case, I feel sorry for games such as God of War and Shadow of the Colossus since they exemplify greatness to on par with the MGS series though only SotC has a rich enough history to compare.

Ok...serious post here-Bioshock is incredibly polished, it doesn't have too many things (if any) wrong with it's design. Therefore, it's getting such high scores. These freakin reviewers are just so happy that a game comes out and it's really polished it's the OMG this is awesome!-10
I honestly think, people are gonna buy into it, expecting to be completely blown away by the game-and will be left disappointed.
Bioshock is NOT the gender, ethnic/race defining game that the reviewers say it is...
Simply put-it's some of the best stuff we've seen so far (this gen), and it's scored higher than everything thats came out so far--that is all.
The comparisons to MGS/Zelda are quite hilarious, because it simply doesn't have the appeal of those game. Socom was played for YEARS--and it got 8.5 and 9.0 from the media--some even lower.
Numbers don't mean shit...
Bioshock is a great game--just not a classic...
It may appeal to some posters here because of it's style and atmosphere, but I doubt it will to MILLIONS and MILLIONS of gamers around the world like a Mario game does.
No, I'm not rating it on appeal, so don't twist my words...
I've said it before--it just doesn't have the Quam...
@Dakota And If you were comparing backstory and depth then my bad...I was just comparing the games as a whole...I have no idea about System Shock and what not...

I think you might be in the minority when it is all said and done. If 2k is in bind for money, they'll release it on the PS3 and I am sure you'll be happy. Bioshock is a classic whether you like it or not. In the upcoming years, when you see the 'Top 10/Classic/best/whatever' lists, be assured that Bioshock will probably end up in the list.
MGS and Bioshock are on the same boat when it comes to appeal -- they aren't family friendly. Mario and Zelda will always reign king for appeal though Zelda's popularity is waning for whatever reason. Not sure why you are including SOCOM in this discussion. SOCOM isn't in the same league as God of War or the Team ICO projects if we are speaking "classical" terms.
Anyways, if 2k keeps the Bioshock/System Shock train rolling, gamers may be in store for some of the best games in the next 5-10 years from Irrational Games (I won't call them by their new name which I think is 2k Boston / 2k Australia).

I don't think I'm in the minority, but time will tell...
I don't put MGS and Bioshock in the same boat at all--but whatever:shrug:
I honestly doubt Bioshock will have the same appeal as well--too early to tell whether it will get as popular as MGS...
IMO--there's just too much sick shit going on in Bioshock for it to have the appeal of MGS. You can relate to the themes much much more easier. Heroism, bravery, dogs of war, the ugliness of war--things like this just have a vaster appeal than Bioshock twisted world.
Again, we'll see who is more on point in time...+rep
lol @ Curry..
yeah Im about to beat this game today on a friend's box...

Just finished Bioshock, and I can re-comfurm anyone comparing this game to the greats is smoking D-dirt dipped in embalming fluid...
Ending was kinda weak, and story felt a little shallow at the end. Overall great game tho, turning into Rosie was the best part...
If any1 doesn't check the X360 forum that much could u post the ending where you harvest all the little ones? I felt like being a good guy with my playthrough...
I will say that Motorstorm, Warhawk, Resistance, Gears and Bioshock have been the only real games where I was like, man--that's next-gen ish right there. Not saying those are the only things, I'm sure there's some X360 games like Mass Effect that I haven't played.
This gen is taking off slower than I thought, but the drought is finally over it seems...
I need to finish Odin's sphere before I get my PSP RPG gaming going...

KH - 9.5
KH2 - 9.7
I wouldnt say 10's but if the trend continues, I would think KH3 has all the potential to top its predecessors and ascend into the highest ranking with other legendary games already there.

True, I agree with you in that regard. I like it for the art direction that Nomura-san went with. He carried on that style that he created in The Bouncer and it transfered over perfectly for a game crossover with Disney. His manga style can really be scene here with the direction character art takes, and because of this the scenes and characters are a treat to see, vibrant even with the dark themes of certain parts of the game.
Though from his own interviews we learn the games are a bit too light and friendly for their own good. Though obviously they serve the purpose SquareEnix desired when designing this game. You can see/understand that he likes the concepts of KH games since when he describes FFVersusXIII, he describes them as a darker version of KH series.

Well it did get a lot darker with the second game, and plans to get even darker in the third installment. But what I love is that Nomura made me love all of his characters, which really absorbed me into the story.

Omnicloud man you should reall re-edit your post and give a spoilers warning just in case it does come to PS3.
Let me just say though, after playing through Bioshock 1 and a half times, Im starting to see things wrong with it, but they don't take away from the overall experience. The fact that you can regenerate is kind of stupid, and makes the game easier but that isn't a huge downfall either. Bioshock in it's own right is one of those games that I would consider art (or in my case better than art as it is by definition) along with games like Metal Gear Solid.
The story isn't really shallow, there are just some weak points. The story itself is actually pretty well done and the way the plot twists and turns is fantastic. Also yeah games from the 90s were cool, but your mind probably does decieve you. I got UMK3 on XBLA; one of my fav titles from the 90s and it pisses me off because of how "ghetto" and simple it is. Back then you were younger so games just seemed like the best thing in the world..I remember like every other year I would be like "OH LOOK AT THEM GRAPHICS THAT'S NUTS!!!!!!11" but then like a year later something blows it to shit....technology sucks like that.
Anyways, I am not sure about the chances of this coming to PlayStation 3; especially when the Games for Windows version of it has achievements as well, and the marketing is being heavily promoted by Microsoft as well. It could be a year or two down the road, but we will see.
The game is also well, short relatively speaking. I think a normal person will be able to get about 15 hours of enjoyment out of this if they suck it dry for everything it is. Still, it is a great game, so good that my girlfriend liked watching me play it, and enjoy it like a movie. If I play Halo on the otherhand, she gets all pissed off and threatens not to sex me up for the night.

Umm, the PC version doesn't have any achievements. Instead, (Have the PC version) we get bugs, crashes, and limited installs.
Games for Windows =/= Windows Live stuff.

KH2 sucks donkey. It doesn't have the humor, doesn't have the originality, doesn't have the storyline, makes you replay all the same levels again, etc. It's an annoying game and I can't believe I am still playing it to max out the stats since I have nothing better to do with my 360 being in repairs, DS being used by the GF, and other excuses.
KH1 is amazing though.
