So I was looking around in some game shops today, and I saw Sam and Max Season One in a box. I was like "Holy fuck!" because I didn't think it would come out in a box (only over the internet) and the computer I play games on isn't connected.
So I was all excited and got it. I just installed it and have played through it for about an hour or so. Its awesome. I don't really remember the old one too well since I played through it when I was younger, but I did buy the re-release of it so I should play through that some time.
So yeh, this is awesome. Im so glad I found it. Has anyone else downloaded them? The only problem is it crashes fairly regularly... Maybe there an update for it, but whenever I leave a room and it goes to load the next place it could crash. Its happened about 3 times now. Hopefully this isn't for the whole game.
Anyway... :pinky::pinky::pinky::thumpsup:

I've tried the demo for few episodes over Steam (no crashes) and I found it to be enjoyable but not buy worthy.
The whole click and point thing is horribly outdated unfortunately (for me at least, since I've played lots of them back in the day).
But if you like 'cheesy comedy', the script alone will be worth your money.

I find the point and click incredibly nostalgic. Its awesome. And the script is fantastic. Ive already laughed out loud countless times.

Yep, you sound like someone who would enjoy this game alright which is fantastic.
How much was it in the shops?
It's $20 for three episodes on Steam (which makes up a season?).

I payed AU$60 for 6 episodes, which is the full first season.

AU$60= US$50.
So in Steam you pay $40 for 6 episodes and on retail you pay $50 for 6 episodes.
Fair enough.
Are the episodes long?
I might actually get it now.

Ive heard they're quite short, but then "they are episodes..."
When I finish a full one Ill let you know. My friend says they take a few hours each.
And I prefer buying things in store. Getting a hardcopy ftw.

Hmmm, okay.
Actually I think that was the reason I've decided against buying them, because of length.
That ends my contribution to the thread.

I've only played the first episode and a bit of the second, and I'm so glad to have more Sam & Max!
The original game is great, and the cartoon series is hilarious.
The short length of each episode is kind of annoying in that each one isn't very challenging because of it, but with all the funny dialogue to be expected from the Sam & Max games, there is certainly enough substance.
The new point-and-click method does make things easier than they were with the old method.
On the subject of point-and-click interfaces being outdated, I can't see how.
While there is this newer, streamlined method and the Grim Fandango method (which contains no pointing or clicking, rather moving to and pressing,) neither truly update the original method to such an extent that would place two apart at enough distance to classify one as "outdated". Of course, point-and-click games, along with text adventures, are near incomparable to any other type of gameplay.
A grandfather is old but not outdated until the grandmother leaves him for a younger man.
(Ha. Outdated. I just got that. No really, puns are the lowest form of comedy.)
I look forward to playing the rest of the Sam & Max episodes with great enthusiasm.
(Great enthusiasm held back only by sheer laziness.)
