Someone from Gametrailers got a copy of Halo 3 from his Wal-Mart. All he did was ask the guy if they had it in stock and he sold it to him.

yeah walmart will probably be fined heavily for it too. Does the guy have a gamertag?

OG_Monkey

nope, he wasnt stupid enough to post his gamertag no take a pic of him playing it or nothing. It was a pic of the game box open showing the box and disc.

Walmart is probably like, "We dont give a fuck" I mean, is it really against the law to sell things before the date the manufacture WANTS you to sell it? I mean, yea if it was months before, but the game comes out next week, big whoop. Like Toys R Us and Bioshock, wasnt really a big deal since the game came out a couple DAYS later.

Against the law? Not at all.

Will Microsoft decide to stop shipping their products to Wal-mart if it keeps happening? Very possibly, yes.

He shouldn't get in trouble if he plays. Like anyone is going to say no when the guy at the store says he can sell it to him now.

good point, but thats be stupid on MS's part as Walmart is liek the biggest and still becoming the biggest place that people shop at.

lol, yeah. If im playing the PS3 or 360 at the videogame section and the clerk says, were selling Halo 3 now, im REALLY gonna say, no thank you, ill wait until the 25th. Yeah right. He just better not log onto live while playing, stay offline.

I dunno man..seems kind of fishy..

how so?

ur right, to the right of it, seems like a box that says DO NOT OPEN BEFORE, STREET DATE

XboxEvolved

Yeah see, here is the thing with a lot of this shit: One Halo 2 didnt go out before street date, what happened with Halo 2 is some asshole leaked the code (but 360s have a lot of things that keeps that from happening now), and with Halo 3, the retailer has an agreement not to sell it before the date they are supposed to be out there. This wasn't the case with games like say, Bioshock, and Gears of War for some strange reason, so they were ok to go.

This is what actually happens if they sell before street date: They determine whom sold the game (as typically you are assigned a register), they fire that employee, the retailer does in fact pay a fine because they breached an agreement they had with the publisher.

Also, Wal-Mart is a major partner in the release of Halo 3, I mean they are going to be opening registers just for people with Halo 3..so I don't think they would do anything to screw that up.

Ya... the last thing you want to do is tell people that. If I had a friend who could do that for me, I'd keep it as mum as possible.

The hell? Who breaks streetdate by a week. I've heard of breaking it by hours or even a day, but a week? What kind of people run that store?

^No one will find out who did it by talking about it here, or just randomly. He'd probably have to go talk about it all the time for something to happen lol. Connections really don't get ruined that easy by that, unless he really is telling everyone on the street and in the world about it lol.

If they wanted to, they could utilize the internet to track down information.

Haven't you heard about companies now searching for information about applicants and employees online? Its the same concept.

I mean, your right. I doubt it'd happen. But it could.

OG_Monkey, I can say from having worked at Wal-Mart that the entire Electronics department at the stores that have broken street date, as well as the folks that actually sold the copies, have been fired and replaced.

Wal-Mart is hardcore about street dates. The manager on duty at the time probably didnt hear about it until after the copies had been sold. Also, someone that wasn't from electronics must have gone digging through the electronics "bin" in the back room and not paid attention to the big street date sticker on the box.

Electronics employees are taught that they are strictly NEVER to sell a street dated title before the date. If they do, they lose their job and pay part of the store's fine out of their paycheck.

word ^ i used to work at wal-mart as well, ( didn't you hate that whole history of sam walton video? =P) anyway yah, they have been fired for sure as each cashier has specific numbers to log in with (part of your SS#) so, they know who sold the item.

This happens ALL THE TIME in retail. It doesn't matter if it's Wal Mart or not. Some times they schedual people into the electronics departments that have no idea when games come out. I know Target gets fined $1,000 a copy for broken strret dates. I should know, as I have accidently done it before.

not from walmart but:

http://live.xbox.com/en-US/profile/profile.aspx?pp=0&GamerTag=ToleratedBubble

After news of gamers getting copies of Halo 3 before its actual street date surfaced, Microsoft quickly moved to curtail the spread of some early Halo 3 gaming.

Earlier reports stated that the company would freeze the accounts of those caught playing Halo 3 before the game's official release date. Video game news site Pro-G, however, reports that Microsoft has backtracked on the ban. Here's a snippet from a Microsoft statement issued early this morning:

We can confirm that Microsoft is not taking any action (such as banning Xbox Live accounts) against gamers who are playing Halo 3 before the official street date. Any rumours or speculation to the contrary are false.

According to another Microsoft spokesperson who spoke to Pro-G, the ban is still in effect for Microsoft employees. Those with no connections to the company, however, are apparently free to play the game without suffering any consequences.

looks like he and anyone else who wants to buy the game early and play on live have nothing to worry about

I just got the game today and started playing the SP campaign on Legendary... That should keep me busy until the official release so I can go online and try the multiplayer.

I would not dare consider taking the game online now it's not worth the risk of being banned from Live... I have the ethernet cable unpluged while I play until the release on the 25th.

*I will post my thoughts on the game later. Initial first thoughts: visually it's impressive, but not mindblowing at this point. The lighting is very well done; the character models could use some work...*

^ Are you questioning if I have the game?
I have no reason to lie; I would post some info, but don't want to give any spoilers.

If you don't believe I have the game that's cool...

Nameless, post the last sentence of the manual on page 18.

When the game 'officially' comes out, OG can verify.

When you download the iso you don't get manuals...
*I plan to buy the game when it's released, but downloaded to play SP campaign early...*

BTW Don't IM me asking how to do this, because I will not promote piracy...

lol....fair enough.

All you can really do with the downloaded iso, is play the campaign. Microsoft will smash your 360 with the gravity hammer if you go online.

Nameless
09-21-2007, 11:38 PM
^I know so I have the ethernet completely disconnected while I play...
I don't have the balls to even think about taking the game online.
*Once again I plan to buy a legit copy once the game is released for MP...*

Also, I'm in the COD4 Beta so it would suck to be banned from Live.

The moral of the story is don't commit piracy kids...

LMFAO! Damn, i dont have any dual-layer DVDs around

but question, can the 360 play burned games or something?

NoZ

With the hacked firmware it can. But that means opening the 360, you lose warranty, which is needed vitally with this console.

OG_Monkey
09-22-2007, 05:13 PM
oooooh, so Nameless, you got a hacked 360?

lol NoZ, hell yeah. Warranty without the xbox is like, being at a gunshoot out wiht no bullets, very vital
