Get ready for Halo CE! :laugh:

CE which means Custom Edition is a free, downloadable upgrade for Halo PC.
What this includes is an H.E.K. (Halo editing kit) which allows you to create anything you want in the Halo universe (im going to make a map), Fast Shaders (Boost performance greatly), and improved netcode (less lag and warping).

Its not out YET but will be out within the week. In the meantime, check out my outline for the map I am going to make and comment on it! :rotate:

i just got the game 2 days ago, it is amazing, but it has so many frame rate problems, it slows down too many times. I am guessing it is because of my computer... does anyone know how to make it stop from slowing down

Yep. Put it to 640x480 if you have to. Also, make sure shadows and the triple buffer option is turned off. This should speed up the performance somewhat. However, if you're interested in the long term (assuming your problem is hardware), a cheap upgrade would be additional RAM, perhaps a 256 MB stick. Wait for a sale, you can sometimes get them for $9.99.

I actually do like your original idea Urafaerie. It reminds me of a better version of Blood Gulch, adding 45 degree angles at each base and a nice dividing river. I think it'll be a great multiplayer map. What sort of textures/environment are you going to use?

I am planning on using the BG setting with a bit of Timberland here and there.
With this HEK you can add anything you want. So I guess I will experiment. I will also add little crevices and fox holes that people can hide it, everyone loves those!

The foxholes will work great. Sounds like a solid map.

3DSMAX 6 DEMO (http://www4.discreet.com/3dsmax/3dsmax.php?id=403 ) This is to 3DSMAX 6 TRAIL VERSION. There is a 30-day period on this. Its up to you to utilize this time. (or do something very naughty and bad by turning your clock back....BAD! NO!) This is currently NOT supported by the HEK, but plugins or support made by modders/gearbox are sure to come out very soon so look out for that.

This is a FREE modeler (no time limit) made by the same company. THIS IS NOT COMPATIBLE with the HEK, but I think a plugin was already made so you can transfer you maps from here to 3DSMAX or HEK.

AND THE ONLY SUPPORTED MODELER FOR NOW IS: 3DSMAX 5
Thats right, I have no clue how to get it except for naughty P2P (BAD!). Or you can buy it (Who in their right mind has $2000!?)

I would go with....
GMAX. Its free, Its legal (you're dirty people! hehe j/k), and a plugin will be made for it.

Remember, Modeling is very hard, and requires a lot of patience and time. BUT, the rewards are great and your happiness goes up. The better you get at it, the better chance you have, of oh say, becoming a modeler :P. Plus, people praise you for making them maps and such.
