Which was better for you?

Halo 1 hands down! I dont care what Halo 2 offered, if Halo 1 had live, itd be the best.

It just used to be, shit, and still is fun as hell to play multiplayer in that.

It wins story mode hands down, it actually kept track of the levels you completed on legendary and all that. Actually wanted me to keep playing and i still do keep playing the story mode, it was great. halo 2 just felt like one big story, i liked how Halo 1 broke into a loading screen to show there WERE separate levels. lol, i dunno why, but i just liked that.

Weapons...hmm...gotta go with Halo 2 here

Fun...Halo 1. Halo 2 is getting old playing on live and there are some really annoying people.

Overall, like i said, Halo 1

I think I played maybe 15 minutes total of the first game, compared to the 200+ hours of Halo 2. Granted, the campaign mode in 2 is awful, but as long as you have Live (which I actually don't anymore), everything is peachy.

Halo 1 was pretty solid. It got a bit confusing dealing with the same environments over and over (The Library was deity-damned ridiculous!) but I enjoyed the single player experience. I also had a lot of fun moments playing the game on co-op. The multiplayer aspect was also pretty cool. I enjoyed the indestructable vehicles and such. I don't know how many hours were spent playing Slayer on Blood Gulch, first to 50....considering most of the time, we weren't even trying to kill each other seriously.
Sniper on top of the base? I'll snipe back...with my pistol. Or I'll just circle the damn thing with a Ghost. Or, I'll drive through the base with the Ghost.

Halo 2...well, Halo 2 expanded the story a bit. The Covenant was fleshed out a bit more, since in Halo 1 they still felt like a cliché group of gun-totting aliens. Of course, the story wasn't fleshed out enough. The game never actually ended and when it did, you weren't even playing as the Chief. The multiplayer didn't quite latch on to me as Halo 1's did. It was better....I suppose. I mean, more thought was put into the multiplayer stuff, but I felt Bungie focused too much on the multiplayer.
Multiplayer is great and all, but I buy the games for the campaign. Multiplayer is an afterthought.

Halo 1

It's been a while since I've played either game. I plan on replaying them before Halo 3 comes out so I might think differently then. I thought playing as the Arbiter was a cool twist but the first game is all about Master Chief. I also spent a lot more time playing co-op with my friends for Halo 1 than I did for Halo 2. And as for multi-player, I liked playing Halo 1 with my friends instead of playing Halo 2 with a bunch of douchebags over Live.

Ya. I think that if Halo 1 had Live capabilities, it would get more play than Halo 2 by majority of the people.

From a competitive aspect, most of the players like Halo 1 a lot more.

I don't like MP in Halo 2, it's not fun. The longer since it's been since I started Halo 2, I think the less I appreciate it or don't like it. Halo 1 is something I have never got bored of even for a bit. There's that mechanical yet superfluous quality of Halo 1 that's makes it feel just perfectly stable and awesome.

I don't think there is one thing I like in Halo 2 better other than the graphics, but only technically. I like the look of Halo 1 better.

If Halo 1 had Live, it would be best. But it didn't. Halo 2's multiplayer was amazing in my eyes... and thats all I really care about when it comes to the Halo universe, the multiplayer.

So Halo 2.

halo 1.
i only played halo 2 campaign one or two times all the way through, where as i played halo 1 campaign about nine or ten times, maybe.
Halo 2 isn't all that fun on Live, anyway, unless you're a complete nerd who dominates every game. and cheats.
My favorite levels in either game are Blood Gulch and Sidewinder.
and Hang em High.

I dominated most games. Except for when we got cheated.

Your right though. Its not much fun to lose. But we still made the best of it when we did.

It's funny... I can freakin dominate in halo 2 even after not playing it for so long. Hopefully I pwn when Halo 3 comes out right off the bat.

It feels remotely the same. When you switched from H1 to H2, the controls felt a lot different. Master Chief could actually jump. MC couldn't throw grenades nearly as far. the BR had to be discovered. The pistol was pointless.

But now, we know the weapons. We know the range of physics. We know the controls. If you've played Halo 2 even half as much as I have, then your transition to Halo 3 should be near seemless.
