Sorry guys, no luck on getting to the Halo 2 signed soundtrack I lost it when moving, I know that is very unprofessional of me, I completely apologize as well. In the meantime, if anyone is big into CoD4 and would like to help organize the rules and such for a CoD4 tourney, let me know, as I hope to have one of those, but in much quicker time than the H3 tourney.

So, when you say team play, will we be paired up in random groups? I don't really understand how the elimination is going to work.

well with team games, whichever team wins, they get to go on to the next bracket, but the other team doesnt, except one person from that team, the person whom we determine performed the best.

so lets say we have 4v4 4v4 4v4 4v4 on the first bracket. Then it goes to 5 from one, 5 from the other, 5 from the other, 5 from the other. Then from there perhaps we will do 5 2v2. Then out of that each person on each team that did the best will get to go forward, leaving 10 people.

Then from 10 people it gets interesting. 5 1v1. Out of them, we will have 5 left..which Im not sure about heh. We will have to have a number that makes sense, I havent got all the details just yet, well lets say there are 6 1v1.

out of those 8...somehow...then we will have 4..out of 4, it goes down to 2..the 2 left are 1v1.

Sounds like this tournament may take a while to complete, if that's the scheme you intend to use.

You could give the best performer a BY from the first round of 1v1 games, if you come up with an uneven number.

Since I have inconviently moved these past few days, and the fact that I dont have internet at my house until Thursday, I am extending the deadline to October 7, 2007 to sign-up. So far I think we have about 30 people.


Also I am not going to change it just yet, but what I had to replace one of the grand prizes (the Halo 2 Soundtrack signed) what would be a worthy replacement? I seemed to have well, misplaced it in the move from Kentucky to Indiana. Trust me I am as pissed off as any of you whom might have been hopeful to get it.

Anyways, I appreciate everyone whom is signing up, and if you have friends on Live or otherwise let them know about it, get them to sign up to E-mpire, and have them PM me, Email me, message me on Live, whatever. It doesn't matter, I just want everyone to have fun, and the bigger the tourney the better. :)

Well you should all make the list, and I am probably extending whom can be on the list and whom cannot.

First some good news:

Microsoft has agreed to contribute some prizes to the tournament, and you may see some news about the tournament on Halo Bungie.org, Majornelson.com, and Gamerscoreblog

Here is some bad/good news depending on how you look at it:
The tournament date is TBD (but probably in November now!) so you guys have plenty of time to get beasty. Prizes may switch around a bit also, and I may extend how many people may enter from 30 up to 50.

Bad news:
The reason I am doing this, is my 360 was bricked/RRoD so thanks a fucking lot for that Microsoft I just love that, and I need to have the 360 working so I can help call close calls in recorded film, and because I am a contender just for kicks, although I am sure I will sucks.

I haven't decided exactly what it will be, but I will try to pair people up, or match people depending on their skill initially. If you advance and you have a lower rank and grade than the other guy, well good luck I guess.

considering the sizes of the maps, yes it would be kinda lame. Especially if we had that many people playing in 1v1 matches.

In a tournament of this fashion, a Free-For-All setup would make the most sense, although pool play with randomly selected teams could work alright. The only problem with that is that nobody really knows how good anyone else is going to be, including the people putting the teams together. So maintaining a balance will be left up to luck.

MLG has their official Halo 3 gametypes and settings up for download. Just go to MLG Anakin's bungie profile.

We may use some of MLG's rules, and we will probably do 1v1 towards the end on 'smaller' levels, although the smallest one is Guardian, and if we did that one Im thinking I might have to take the grav hammer out because that weapon is for camping bitches.

So far prizes may also shift, as I said before Microsoft is giving me some stuff (so they say) so we will see what happens. Also if you guys know of anybody who would be interested let them know.

Ya, in a 1v1 setting, you'd want to eliminate the Hammer of Doom. You could evene eliminate the Sniper Rifle if you wanted to, but that's not nearly as important as the Hammer. And from what I've seen so far, Guardian would be the most sensable level for 1v1's.

Guardian is a great 2 vs. 2 level and 1 vs. 1. I also like Epitath. No High Ground or Snowbound.

I do agree that Guardian Would be the best 2 v 2 or 1 v 1 map but i dont see why there wouldnt be snow bound its not like its unfair to either side.

O and how many people do you think is in this tournament so far.

Snowbound is unfair because of the underground tunnels that two teammates could camp, hoarding the camo and sniper.

I havent played Epitah enough to really think of what it looks like. Narrows could be played as a 2v2 map.

Snowbound sucks. Matter of fact, I only like 4-5 of the levels that Halo 3 has out of the 11. And even then, some of those that I like have horrible attributes that pisses me off. (Last Resort being a sniping level, Construct being the new Ivory Tower with camping the top, Narrows have the terrible attributes of Boarding Action from Halo 1, Guardian having the hammer though I am glad it's not a sniping level, the list goes on).

I need my damn blood gulch, Valhalla doesn't count.

Well they have already stated that the Bungie team's main focus lies on creating new maps now, so we can definitely expect to see maps released that are aimed at a more competitive level of play.

Well Last resort isnt a slayer map its a objective map like CTF or bomb. The map i like the best is the pit because its has alittle bit of everything (sniping so you can get the people who feel the need to rush the middle, the sword for close range and both power ups.) But thats just me alot of people i know dont like it at all.

The Pit is pretty cool for Slayer, but it doesn't do too well for other game types. Territories is alright, but CTF or Crazy King? Not so much. Valhalla is decent, but I think a good ol' fashion Blood Gulch is in order. I liked the simple flat terrain, and the caves.
Sandtrap was a bit of a letdown. I was expecting something a wee bit more on the epic side of things.

I will indeed have my 360 by next week hopefully, and the tournament should begin in November, and end the second week of November.

Rules, regulations, how the ladder will be set-up and so on will be announced before the tournament begins. I think we are over 30 entries right now, but I will do everything in my power to make sure we get everyone in.

I have one prize that might be possible thanks to Microsoft but I won't go into details because if I can't get it, I feel like I let you guys down. Lets just say if I can get it, anyone that wins the grand prize please realize you will need a crowbar to open up your prize, if we lock it down. I'm fucking serious.

Also please note, that the first rounds will be in 4v4, then 2v2, then 1v1. What team you are on will depend on your skill level and grade according to Bungie.net. I will set the teams up as fairly as I can based on these, I will give no favors, and I personally will probably play with people I have never played with before only to make it fair. this shouldn't be that hard at all just post a list of who is playing post matches for each player 1 v 1 would be the best because you wouldn't have to depend on other people to show up at the same time. When everyone knows who they are playing then let them find each other and play. If they don't report back to you withing 2 days then both lose and you move on just run it like game battles.
