collectors edition warning

maxconsole got ahold of 3 collectors editions and are reporting that upon opening them all the disks were scratched to hell because they had a "foam holder" to hold the disk in there and it didn't hold them, so if you're planning on getting the collectors edition (like i am) be wary and open the game at the cash register, that way if its scratched you can exchange it/get your money back.

other sites are reporting the same problem with early bought copies, i asked a gamestop manager about it, he said he heard the same and would reccomend opening it at the register. I am probably going to downgrade to the standard edition because of this, so....theres a warning folks, watch out!:whip:

don't open it AT the register... get out of othe way and then open it. That's annoying to people waiting behind you in line.

I just got the regular, due to the fact that I almost always am disappointed when I purchase CE games.

I already bought the collector's edition, but I've been waiting for the store to give it to me for a month or so. I'll be picking up my copy roughly around midnight Tuesday. Maybe a little afterwards, depending on the line.

If I'm last in line, or close to it, I'll open in it in the store to check for scratches. I'll be damned if I paid $70+ for a scratched up game. If I'm one of the first....and the line in short, then I'll probably do it. Alas, what if all the games are scratched up? I'll be killed for trying to exchange them all.

Well, according to GameStop, the copy I pre-ordered might not be there because I won't be in the store by 9 PM Monday night. Even though I have the game completely paid off, they said I might not get it.

My friend had the same problem... they opened up like 4 copies when he took it back and they were all scratched. They just opened up a regular game and swapped discs.

This is a reallllly bad problem guys.

Yeah, someone got their limited edition and opened it up in the store this morning. They showed it to the manager, and he said that if it didn't work, he'd swap them. I probably should have read this thread before I went so I could tell people...

i got my limited edition, it was loose in the case when i opened it. There is only one scratch on it, it doesnt look that bad but it plays fine so im not going to bother exchanging and stuff, just be wary if you buy the CE, im dissapointed with it anyway (the case and the extras) i wish i would have gone with the regular.

When I saw the Legendary edition, I immediately regretted not preordering that. Oh well.

I trammed in to get my copy, and the trams had ended so I had to walk back. When I got home I was like "Shit, I forgot to check to see if mine is scratched." I opened it and it was fine. So phew.

I got the legendary don't know if it was worth it. Don't think the bonus dvd's are really that great. Though the spartan helmet is bad ass.

Just picked up my Halo 3 regular. Wow, when I was in the pickup line, a lot of people were exchanging their DVD from the CE. I didn't know it was that big of a problem.

Yeah, I got the collector's edition and it was in pretty good condition. The discs weren't being held onto the case when I opened it, but there weren't any scratches.

Collector's edition pissed me off. I was expecting some actual artwork in the book, not computer renders. Fargin' A.

I got the Collector's Edition. Wasn't planning on it, but got caught in the moment. Mine was loose, but it was mostly cosmetic. Only a tiny scratch, the rest was more scuff. Gave it a flush in the toilet JIC but it plays perfectly.
