So as some of you may know I just moved to Madison, Indiana from my past addy in Florence, Kentucky. First thing I did when i got down here after finding out I won't be getting Halo 3 from MS until a few days after the release (to my dismay) was go to the local Gamestop up the road and reserve Halo 3.

When I was there I asked when a good time to actually come up and get in line, well apparently they will be giving out numbers so they said 9PM would be a good time. Not only that, but they will be ordering six pizzas, a bunch of big ass subs from Subway, drinks, and Chevrolet will be there to do some stuff, along with like carnvial games and shit outside the store. It sounds pretty fucking awesome to me, and I will be there for the festivities leading up to the game, and hopefully I will snap some pics and maybe a small video. I am reserving this thread for launch night stories as I know we will all have one to tell, and feel free to post your pics up as well.

Well, my launch party idea might not happen exactly as it should. I wanted to try system linking at one guy's place and we all go crazy on 4 player co-op, but the most that'll happen is we all go pick up Halo 3 at midnight, go home, and play co-op over Live.
Unfortunately for the rest of my friends, they're still in public school or have to work that day. I, on the other hand, have the whole day off.

Well I will get it started with a Halo 2 launch story. I was going to college at the time, and every single day I would countdown the days before Halo 2. It was driving my gf at the time nuts, and she thought only I cared about the game..until her guy friends, girl friends with bfs, MTV, Spike, etc started talking about it.

Anyhoo, the night I went to get it my friend and I went up to the Gamestop up the road, it was pretty nuts, the small little store was packed with at least 100 people, we sped home from there running red lights, and we passed the Gamerush closer to the college which looked like there were cops out there, and the crowd was poured out on the street. When I got to my dorm, you could hear from inside other dorms people were already playing it.

That night I stayed up until my first class, went to that, skipped the next one to play more, and then went to the one after that, passed out, woke up played more. I drank lots of redbull, coke, and smoked lots of cigarettes. My Gf ended up getting drunk with my roommate and fucked him so I told her it was over, but I still had Halo 3.

Now, I have a fiance and she is learning to accept my love of Halo, and tries to play Halo 2 even though she doesnt understand the using two joysticks concept.

Yeah, I know. I probably will play through campaign a number of times.

But yeah, I might not be able to get the game Tuesday at midnight because of potential shortages. I pay the game off in full, but because I can't start waiting in line at 9 PM (I get out of work at 10:30 PM), I might not get it.

WEAK!

I've got a good dozen stores near me that are going to carry it, including 2 Walmarts, a Sam's Club, a Costco, 2 GameStops, Best Buy, Circuit City, and a handful of other retail stores, so I didn't even preorder it... I'm going to stop by after Football on Tuesday when my friend picks his up at Best Buy, then I'll proceed to go store to store until I find one, but last time I got it first day at Best Buy around 9PM (Who had a good 40 games to spare)

Anyone want to play co op with my on friday? That's probably the first time I will be able to play Halo 3. My friend is bringing over his 360 and we will be playing it all weekend probably.

At our GameStop, we're having Papa John's pizza, many bigass subs from Subway, and the National Guard is going to stop by with a Humvee.

We're also having tournaments starting at 9:30 for people 18 and older to play Halo 2 1-on-1 matches.

I actually tested some levels with the senior keyholder at my store yesterday. We had to "research" for some good maps. :)

But yeah, I don't have a 360, but I'll be going down there for the food and socializing. I also have to turn in my work permit (EAT THAT, PANNELL!).

I decided I might go by Hastings since that where all my friends are waiting. I am now considering playing it with them at midnight... but I have class at 8 am the next day, and I said no game is worth missing class for... but this is Halo 3 we are talking about... oh noes.

We went to the gamestop down the road earlier, around 3:30 or 4, and there were two kids hanging out with backpacks and shit.

I'm just going to pick it up tomorrow sometime after work. It's the best I can do.

Damn... Just... Damn...

Ours had a HUGE turnout! Surprisingly, I didn't know many of the people there, but it was hectic the whole way through. I wasn't even supposed to be working, and I still helped with sales, organizing, etc. I just got home, and it's 2:30 AM. I did get to play a bit of Halo 3, however. It's pretty sick.

I didn't get any pizza, though (which was the reason I went). :-(

Still, lots of Game Fuel, donuts, sweat, fun and craziness. Even my repair/programming teacher showed up for it.

Also, got the last Halo Marines hat that they had. :-)

The Halo 3 launch was pretty cool. Not as cool as I was hoping it would be. See, the original plan was like this: My clan and I were all supposed to go to GameStop together, pick up the game, go to one person's house, and play co-op until the game was finished. Alas, that didn't happen. One of our guys couldn't come and another guy had to wait early (like, 9 PM) or he couldn't get it at all.
So, yeah, I got picked up from work from a friend at 10:45 PM and we waited in line. I had got some Game Fuel because 1) I'm silly and 2) It's tasty. The line wasn't even that long when we got there. There were maybe about...20 or 30 people in front of us, and this was an hour before the game was to be released. We were told that if we didn't get there by 9, we wouldn't be guaranteed our copy of the game.
But yeah, during the waiting period the store raffled off items to those who reserved the game. I won a Ninja Gaiden t-shirt, which was pretty cool. Anyway, when it hit midnight, the line moved ridiculously fast. I got my game in about a minute. But yeah, we all got home and started playing campaign (over Live). 4 player co-op was ridiculously fun, but also ridiculously easy on Normal. 3 out of the 4 of us held out to beat the game on Normal, but one of them skipped the credits so I didn't get to see the last movie until later on.
But yeah, I stayed up for almost a day. I played Halo 3 for about 8 hours straight....slept for 7 and played for almost another 8 hours straight.

I reserved mine at EB. I went there at 10, and it was a ridiculously lame launch. Nothing was going on. So then I went to Hastings, because that's where most of my friends went. There, they had free pizza and drinks. They also had a huge Halo 2 tourney where the first place player one a free legendary edition of halo 3. I wasn't planning on doing the tourney, but they needed one more player during the last match, and no one volunteered. The picture on the TV I was on was terrible. They had a bunch of HDTVs, but mine was the worst one... it wasn't clear at all... and I am not familiar with technical terms, but there was like a red shadow wherever there was blue on the screen. So on the radar, it always looked like there was a guy to my left.

I got like 5th though during that round, so I did beat some people.

There were about 100 people at the gamestop i went to. I got there about 10:30-11ish. They had a halo 2 tourney going on 2v2 mlg. Some guy I know had a teammate that wasn't going to play with him so I played on his team, we ended up losing but I did pretty well for not having played in forever. Then got the legendary edition about 12:20 or so after the line took forever (i was 55). Went home and stayed up playing until 10am. Beat the game on legendary and then played multiplayer. Slept until like 4pm got up and played again until 5am. Now its 10:30 in the morning I had to get up early and go talk to a lady about making a website for her, now I am going back to halo.

I just went to the local Walmart with a friend of mine. We got there about quarter to 11 and were 15th in line. I was checked out by 12:10 and then we went and got Steak and Shake. It was a pretty boring launch, but I didn't feel like waiting at my local gamestop.

Me and my friend went down at 8am, store opened at 8.30am. We were the first two there out of a total of 6, I was the first to get and check my Collectors Edition, no scratches at all.

Halo 3 was all over costco.
I was tempted to buy one, so I did.

^Yeah no one ever thinks of checking Costco.

I just went and picked up my reserved copy at ebgames on my lunch break yesterday. They still had so many copies of the game. It was funny because 5 of us from the shop I work at all went and showed up in our uniforms and each grabbed a copy of the game. My one friend bought the game and he doesn't even have a 360 lol. Don't ask...

i went to my gamestop at 9pm on monday night, i though i would be within the first twenty at least, i went at 9pm for halo 2 and was the first in line. I was wrong. There were already over a hundred people there.

They had a papa johns girl there, giving away free pizza all night, they had constant giveaways ( i won a couple 10 dollar gift cards) and they even had a drawing for a fully paid off pre order of guitar hero 3, then they formed lines for each edition and we all had our games very fast, it was a very nice launch.
