Instead of making a new one every week...
Bucs win an offensive thriller against the Titans 13-10. Vince Young wasn't in for the whole game, so that helped. Not much went right for Ronde Barber. He had two picks taken away from him and couldn't hold onto a fumble for the recovery.
Cowboys-Pats play next.

Jaguars were actually on CBS here in New York and destroyed the Texans. I think they have proved to America that they are a worthy team and will give the Colts a run for their money on Monday next week.

Packers win in a horrible, horrible game.
LT is finally doing something this week. 3 TDs and 100 yards rushing at the start of teh 3rd quarter. It's about damn time.
Our long snapper gave the saints 7. This game is not looking good right now.
we are going to lose by 35
Time to clean house. Holmgren needs to go.

That was a statement made by the Jags on Sunday. 1. We won't be humiliated by the damn Texans again. 2. Colts, we're coming for you.
Fred Taylor was listed as questionable prior to the game due to a mild groin injury. He then proceeds to let us all know he's fine by ripping off a 76 yard run on his first carry. He had 90 yards on just 6 carries....he didn't even play in the second half and he didn't need too because "Pinball" MJD had 125 yards on 12 carries plus another 59 receiving yards AND 77 return yards. Garrard, the best decision coach Del Rio ever made, was efficient once again going for 221 yards, 2 TD's and as usual no INT's. Only one other starting QB that has played in all games this year hasn't thrown a INT yet. Defensively, the run stuffing was suffocating as usual. The first game of the season was an obvious fluke as the Jags have held the next 4 teams to an average of less than 50 yards per game on the ground.
The bad stuff.....Reggie Williams with back to back fumbles for turnovers. He did decent in making up for them with a TD later in the game but he must take better care of the ball. Pass Defense. We're usually better than that and it's the one thing that scares me about the MNF game next week with the Colts. If we can run effectively and keep Peyton off the field and provide pressure while he is, we'll be ok but if we let him sit in the pocket all day, it's game over.

^The Jags also had the mistake on special teams where the ball hit off of one of their players and was recovered by the Texans. But the onside kick...now that was beautiful. All in all, the performance by the Jags was very impressive. I really love the defense they have and an improving offense just makes them more potent. Playoffs? Looking at the schedule and display so far, I don't see how they won't make them.
In other news, Tony Gonzalez broke the tight end TD reception record. I guess that is impressive?
Viper
10-15-2007, 09:18 PM
The Jags will be in the playoffs. The big question is how they enter; as a wild card or division champs?
There is clearly a separation forming between the good and bad teams now. Honestly, this season seems to have more bad than good by quite a ways.
They should cancel the NFC playoffs. There are no good teams in the NFC

Seriously, I've seen several guys come and go so don't knock me for being skeptical after one great game. It's on his shoulders to prove it and if he's good enough, great, if not, we'll have another just like him next year.
I'll concede he's done good for the year but up until that game had not blown anyone away.
I agree with viper on this one. Peterson has only faced one good defense and that was the Packers were he didn't do shit. So forgive me if I'm a little skeptical of how good he actually is and no the bears defense sucks this year. Also if in a couple years he's still doing good then I will say he's a good running back.

And no love for the Bears guys? That was an impressive last drive. Even more impressive...the AP article says that Brian Greise's headset went out as he ran onto the field for the final drive. I like the Colts, but I think the Patriots are the better team right now.
Indy has played a tougher schedule so far but there isn't any team they've faced that the Pats couldn't beat. If Brady stays on this pace he's going to throw for around 60 TDs and shatter Peyton's single-season record.
We'll see what happens.

Ya. I think I agree. New England is a well oiled machine, even with new parts added this season like Moss. Indy has been doing the same thing for some time now. NE is simply gaining speed and gaining ground, and will no doubt surpass Indy in the very near future.

That was a hairy game in Tampa. With Garrard down and Gray filling in, who looked real bad last week against the Colts, I was nervous for this game.
Gray still didn't do much but overthrow wide open receivers all damn day. He's actually a very mobile QB but with no back up QB waiting, they told him not to run it at all.
Saving grace was the defense coming up with 3 pics from the previously unintercepted Garcia.

No talk about the Colts-Pats game?
it was alright, but not all it was hyped up to be. I was rooting for the Colts but I thought the Patriots would win. They did win, but at least now they don't look so unstoppable. That said, I still think the Colts are the only team that can beat them. Hopefully some other team proves me wrong.
And Pittsburgh beats Baltimore 38-7 on the Steelers' 75th anniversary.
The Packers are simply awesome this year and do not get the credit they deserve. Their receiving core has really improved this year and now that Robinson is off his suspension it will only get better. The only downside is the running game and Grant is showing some promise, granted very little but still some.

The Jaguars avenge the week 1 loss to the Titans even without their starting QB or Marcus Stroud.
To sweeten the win, Fred Taylor has become the 21st player in NFL history to rush for 10,000 yards in his career. He is also 9th in yards per game in NFL history, 10th in total yards from scrimmage per game yet has never been voted to a Pro Bowl. Underrated in the dictionary has his pic next to it.
Interesting note. If the season ended today, the AFC South would send 3 teams to the playoffs.
Green Bay dominated the Vikings 34-0, shutting down Adrian Peterson and yes I know he got hurt but it was the second half and he hadn't really done anything up to that point.
Brett Favre became only the second player to reach 60,000 career passing yards only about 1,000 shy of Dan Marino's record. Yeah he's pretty much a stud.

Colts lost because of one factor. The Chargers rushed Manning. Nothing frustrates me like watching a team play the Colts and dropping 7-8 into coverage and only rushing 3-4 guys. You don't take out the passing game by using your non-probowl defensive backs to defend against several pro-bowl receivers and QB. Thsi also leaves huge holes for Addai to run through. He's not that great of a RB but because defenses give so much respect to the passing game, they don't stuff the box and Addai gets into the secondary almost untouched.
You get in Mannings face fast and you have a good chance of walking away with a W. Just like the Chargers did. They beat Indy with just 177 yards of offense. That's pathetic. They won because they removed Manning as a factor.
goku2057
11-15-2007, 08:40 PM

Maurice Jones-Drew = 5'7" 208 lbs

Merriman came in to sack Garrard and MJD said, "Not on my watch" and decleats his ass. Jones-Drew is a beast in a small frame.
Wait, found another hit recently....
At 2 seconds in he does a damn good block on the pass rusher. We get picked off but who tackles him? Jones-Drew comes flying out of nowhere...BOOM. That near full sprint went into instant reverse in the air 2 yards back.

I wonder what the record is for most pass attempts without an interception because he is doing very well. His passes are on target everytime, he's very accurate. Jones Drew got shut down for the most part and couldn't convert a 3rd down. But on the good side, Scobee hit all those field goals and it is good to see him back.

Besides his death which is sad for obvious and numerous reasons, I think a lot of Redskin fans (like myself) is going to miss him because he was one of the few players that felt like he was ours. The Redskins don't draft many players, a lot of them are free agents but Sean was ours. He was probably the only player on the team where we could say he is the BEST at his position and not many people would argue. Man he was a special player. I never knew him and I NEVER get this sad when someone I don't know passes away...so I can't really explain why with him it got me so sad :(
Oh and on a side note (of all the teams), the Dallas Cowboy fans have been the most supportive. Cowboyszone.com had changed the site colors to burgandy & gold for the day (might still be that way) plus they had a picture of Sean Taylor in the top banner. Thought that was pretty cool of their fans.

Rodgers started off looking like a back up QB but his follow up series was back to the game plan they've used all year and they got a TD out fot it.
Packers also stuffed them on 4th D so they may have a chance.

A bad pass interference call puts the Cowboys 1 and 10 on the GB 5. Touchdown 2 plays later. Boys up by 10 again.
this is the second bad call against the Packers. The first was a clean strip after the catch that was not called. The second was incidental contact that was incorrectly called as pass interference.

2:00 minute warning and the Cowboys are on the GB 14 with 2nd and 8 to go. packers have just 1 TO remianing. Cowboys look like they will win 9 of 9 games against Brett Favre (granted he's injured).

Viper
11-30-2007, 05:40 AM
Linebacker came in for a sack and his helmet nailed Favre on the right elbow. He was on the sidelines squeezing a football for a while but the feeling in his arm just felt too numb to go back out. I'm about 98% sure he'll be back next week.
He also separated his left shoulder on the play, but with 10 days rest I agree with Viper. He'll play next Sunday.

The shoulder is his non throwing arm. He'll be fine.
Bad calls happen, I'm not going to blame them on the out come, but...still Both of those calls were miserable. the PI call was on 3rd down, too, I believe.
Not having Charles Woodson killed us. We had to play more zone coverage, and we don't like zone coverage. KGB was out as well, and that's a huge reason we didn't get hardly any pass rush.

The Pats will lose to Miami in the second to last game of the season. It will be New England's only loss and Miami's only win. Wouldn't that be sweet if it actually did happen that way.

I don't know. He can still work out, and keep in good shape, so If he gets out on good behavior I could see a team picking him up as a bare bones RB. Or a 2nd/3rd string QB. Whatever he does though, I see him making the league minimum.

The Jaguars made Carolina look stupid. Held them to under 150 total yards and no TD's while the Jags piled on 427 yards including 132 from the 10 year veteran, Fred Taylor. An 80 yard burst in the 4th quarter showed the old man can still outrun an entire defense. Other plays had him running guys over and juking like he was straight out of college.
This is Taylors 3rd straight 100 yard game and he moved to 18th all time on the rushing list passing Eddie George and Tiki Barber.

^ The Jaguars are looking really good. This win was without Peterson or Stroud. If they were a fully healthy team, they could be even better. But they have proven to be true contenders and I would be surprised if they didn't win in at least the first round of the playoffs, being as they will likely play the Chargers (whom they beat) or the Steelers (whom they beat) or even the Browns or Titans could slip in. I think...but I'm not sure how the playoffs work in their matchups.
Additionally, the damn Dolphins won. I was hoping they would lose. And the Giants suck because Eli sucks. I was one who would usually give Eli the benefit of the doubt...but I can no longer do so.

I'm no Eli supporter here, but come on, he didn't have ANY help yesterday, 4 drops in the first half, two on check down routes by Jacobs? Moss getting the first down and then GIVING IT BACK!? Are you kidding me? The entire offense is out of synch, and now they don't have Shockey either.
the poe collector

Moss did that twice yesterday. Eli still makes a lot of dumb mistakes but when his receivers are dropping passes and running backwards after getting first downs, you can't put it all on him.

Exactly, I mean, Eli is so inconsistant that it drives me absolutely insane as a Giants fan, but yesterday, I don't put that on him at all, how can he get anything going when anytime he puts the ball on the money it's dropped?
That Moss first down play just astounded me, I was absolutely awestruck when I saw him out there the next series, thought for sure he'd be done for the game.

Once going undefeated became a reality, they have been getting calls in every game. The game that stands out is the Ravens game. Not necessarily for penalties (although there were some questionable pass interference calls), just the game itself.
Personally, I believe they will lose in the playoffs. Once the AFC starts getting into it, there are some impressive teams such as the Colts and the Pats didn't play the Jags. Should be interesting.
They're not undefeated yet they still have to win the super bowl to be truly undefeated.
