I'm going to use a formula to rank all 32 teams. By adding the defensive and offensive statistical rankings of all 32 teams, the teams are then ranked overall by the lowest number (e.g., Team A ranks 10 on offense and 9 on defense would have 19 points). If points are tied, I'll go by record.

1. New England - 01 - 02 - 03 - Absolute domination.
2. Indianapolis - 03 - 05 - 08 - Good test on MNF with the Jags next week.
3. Pittsburgh - 10 - 01 - 11 - Steel curtain defense is back.
4. Dallas - 02 - 11 - 13 - Needs to work on the pass defense.
5. Jacksonville - 07 - 08 - 15 - Seem to get better every single week.
6. NY Giants - 06 - 09 - 15 - Also getting better each week.
7. Philadelphia - 09 - 07 - 16 - Mistakes are killing them.
8. Washington - 16 - 03 - 19 - Play tough in a tough division.
9. Baltimore - 19 - 04 - 23 - Incredible defense, flying under the radar.
10. Denver - 05 - 18 - 23 - A fast start that has stalled even faster.
11. Green Bay - 13 - 13 - 26 - How much longer can Favre play?
12. Houston - 11 - 16 - 27 - Much improved over previous years.
13. San Diego - 15 - 14 - 29 - Are they coming back to form?
14. Tennessee - 24 - 06 - 30 - Vince Young has Madden curse.
15. Arizona - 17 - 15 - 32 - Surprise team that needs their QB(s?) back.
16. Cincinnati - 04 - 30 - 34 - Likes to trade TD's with everyone.
17. Kansas City - 26 - 10 - 36 - Not sure what to make of them.
18. Tampa Bay - 25 - 12 - 37 - Not as good as their record?
19. Seattle - 18 - 19 - 37 - 3-3 but leads division? What?
20. Minnesota - 12 - 25 - 37 - May have found their weapon.
21. Cleveland - 08 - 31 - 39 - See Cincy.
22. Carolina - 23 - 17 - 40 - Vinny. AARP made him return his card.
23. Detroit - 14 - 29 - 43 - Another up and down team.
24. New Orleans - 22 - 22 - 44 - Wait, they won a game?
25. Miami - 21 - 23 - 44 - The best winless team in the NFL.
26. Oakland - 20 - 26 - 46 - 4th in division but only a half game back?
27. St Louis - 29 - 21 - 50 - Something else stinks besides the airport.
28. Atlanta - 27 - 24 - 51 - It's not going to happen with Harrington.
29. San Francisco - 32 - 20 - 52 - From 2-0 to 0-3...WTF?
30. Chicago - 28 - 27 - 55 - WTF happened in Chicago? Flop of the year.
31. NY Jets - 30 - 28 - 58 - What a division to suck in.
32. Buffalo - 31 - 32 - 63 - NE has the easiest division in football.

I dunno if the Bears should have the 28th ranked offense. There's gotta be some points somewhere for Griese actually putting points on the board, making it a two-man offense (the other being Hester).

Bah. I guess that's about right. From what I can tell. All I really pay attention to is Dallas though. And obviously New England is in the right spot.

Dallas is lucky to be where they are having let Buffalo get that close to winning.

Interesting. For such a simple formula, it does a nice ranking job.
