A year or 2 years ago there was discussion of ripening of movies and other content by the PS3.

Has this been replaced by upconverting of DVDs done in real time?

Can someone explain what is happening in this area.

Thanks

Kutaragi mentioned once that PS3 could be used to process your existing DVD movie collection to provide better video quality, but considering that the DVD upscaling feature is great and that there's little point in improving movies further than that when it can play Blu-ray movies, and that nobody has talked about this since two years ago... well, just forget about it.

Upscaling is as good as it gets for "ripening" video. That is what he was talking about, though not so sure why he included "cell storage" into the mix.
