Army of Two delayed till 2008
Posted on October 22nd, 2007 at 17:02 EDT

Today Electronic Arts announced that they will be delaying Army of Two until next year to let the development team put finishing touches on the game.

"Game quality is our top priority. Army of Two has potential to become a lasting EA franchise -- so getting the first title right is essential," said President of the EA Games Label. "The team at EA Montreal thinks that more time for polish will make the game truly great. We're going to trust the team and give Army of Two a few more months in the studio. Army of Two will ship in first quarter of calendar 08."

If you recall, EA has stated in the past that they want to ship Army of Two when it's perfect. In July, lead designer Chris Ferriera stated, "We want the first game to be perfect, because if we launch an IP and it isn't what we want to make and isn't made to the right quality level, then the future for the franchise doesn't exist. We want to really build something strong."

This suggests that EA plans to release at least one sequel, something that is uncommon with the company's franchises.

It looks like if a game doesn't get any coverage at all two months before its release date, you can guess it's been delayed. I saw this one coming though, because it looked quite mediocre in the latest screenshot batch. I can't say I ever found it too exciting either, it never seemed mindblowing in video footage anyway, IMO.

this game looks like shit, should never come out. Thats just how i feel. And i think its obvious they delayed it only because of all the competition.

if they was so behind it and had their faith in it they wouldnt be scared to release it this year cuz thats all it is, i dont care what bullshit excuse they give, its because they know this game cant really stand out with all these damn games comin out

i was looking forward to this game, but as soon as i seen the first gameply vid, i aughed and said hell no

I wasn't particularly intersted in this game but I was intrigued by the co-op possibilities of it. It would be sweet if someone made an awesome zombie online co-op game like Resident Evil: Outbreak.

Make the zombie computer A.I. hard as heck and everyone online has to survive the night till help arrives. I like co-op games ever since I played Gears of War.

I was looking forward to a good two player game honestly, and was hoping for this, but this was pushed back from a tentative august release, and this doesn't come as a surprise. October and November are killing me as it is so I don't mind so bad. Eye of Judgement and Jericho on Wednesday.

this game only intrigued me because of the co op... and after a few looks at some of the gameplay it was completely pushed out of my mind... so to save you all the paragraph... :whogives:

What kind of bonehead writer managed to put those words on the screen? That's the opposite of EA's philosophy.

I agree. The game does actually look kinda fun. Like Conflict: Global Terror on the PS2, only without the suck.

You want a good co-op 2 player game then look no further than Kane and Lynch. Yes im naive enough to believe that this game will blow away anything Army of Two brings to the table even before either game has been released.

That's called logic, got nothing to do with naivety .
