Nice scores for those two titles, and shame on Jericho.

R and C looks to be the first true blockbuster well received title for the PS3.

You know from my experience I really enjoyed Jericho though.

I was thinking some of these reviews were covered in last months EGM (maybe confused with GI).

Clive Barker's Jericho: 3, 4.5, 4.5 (shame of the month)
Fits to my demo experience.

Nice to see R&C getting so much good scores. :)

because it really is a love it or hate it game. if your not an action RPG fan, your never going to like it.

it really is quite enjoyable if your a fan of that genre. only at chapter 3 though, not sure when i will be able to finish it considering the titles coming out in mere weeks.

Anybody else notice in the Rumors the bit about the GOW sequel next winter? I believe that's the first of anything I've heard about the next God of War.

You can tell by the reviews that Folklore will be all over the place...

If you like RPG's--the game is awesome...

It's just not Final Fantasy and doesn't have that broad appeal for idiots to drool over...

and Halo does indeed own as an online game, but to give a game a 10 when it doesn't really do a bunch of stuff differently is ridiculous. Bioshock will more than likely be the best single player FPS experience this year--but all the Kudos will still go to Halo--Lame;(

They need to get some marketing done for this game so people actually know it exists.

You know from my experience I really enjoyed Jericho though.Prime example why only 'your' opinion matters and not other peoples. From the demo those score are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too low. Do these reviewer have any kind of standards or do they just pick numbers out of a hat? Jericho (although I'm sure it's not great) I doubt it warrants such low scores. Seems like there are way too many games this gen that get 9.5+ in reviews which basically flood the market and actual lower the credibility of the reviews. Ironically all of the games are Microsoft exclusives.

Well I wouldnt inherently agree about MS exclusives but to an extent yeah its like people get a hold of them and are instantly blown away. So in essence alot of the games that are given 10s or 9.8s dont really reflect that calibre of game for me. There are some MS exclusives that I believe are scored too high in many instances: Halo I would have gave an even 9, PGR4 around an 8, Orange Box would have been a 7, etc but others that I am very impressed with Bioshock is simply great and DR is one of my favorite new titles this gen, I enjoyed the classic feel of Blue Dragon, and I very much enjoyed Kameo upon release.

My experience with Jericho is of course limited and given they played the full version Im likely to cut them some slack (also it appears as if they arent the only ones to view it this way). In agreement though what I played I enjoyed and its coming through Gamefly sometime this week or at least should be.

I wish reviewers would just review the game without a final score. Tell us what you like/dislike and leave it at that. I feel reviews sway too many people into not buying a product and in turn hurts developers. Heavenly Sword IMO is a good game but reviews hurt it badly.

I would agree that reviews hurt HS which IMO is a game worthy of a purchase or at the very least a rental if only to experience the title itself.

I like the scoring system although I would like a universal system used by professional review teams so what varies is the opinion of the game not the actual tallying of how the score is composed.

It might be easier if they just got better at scoring, that way there needn't be a revolution to have no scores ;)

As gaming grows more and more, hopefully more professionalism is brought in. Hopefully. I do have a fear that professional journalism (writers in some noticeable mass actually looking to work in the gaming media) won't stretch out into the videogames news market for a long time though. I think this because the gaming media, not tech media, is dominated by the geek combined with gamer enthusiast and it is my humble opinion and terrible guesswork that this severely limits the ability of the gaming media to 'grow up.'

That is to say I think in summary think that only the geek and/or gamer enthusiast is attracted to the field and little (actually nothing) is being done to change that.

:'(

P.S. Because of this I find it so amazingly lucky that people like Hideo Kojima or Hinorobu Sakaguchi honoured the gaming world by entering it and so powerfully reforming it.

I was crying at how bad it was, thank god it got justice.

And yay, I believe these are the only PS3 games to score good (above 8)? lol

Disgaea was never officially deemed to have any online content -- so it's a rumor to negate another rumor..

Ok I just went back and played the demo of Jericho again and although it's only a snippet of the game it wasn't that bad. The full game must be awful to score 4 even though the demo warrants no such score. I know it's only his opinion but jeez is that way off.

masteratt
10-23-2007, 05:12 AM
It really isn't.

Seriously it's so craply made and how the game is made can not be opinion, only how you perceive it.

It's just same enemies coming at your from different angles, it's like a Flash game where enemies pop up at random places of the screen and you shoot them to win a free prize lol.
Except in Jericho, you can't see anything lol.

I'm glad you enjoy it but don't say it's a well made game because it isn't and it does deserve that score.

IGN gave Jericho an 8/10 Gamezone 8/10 and official x-box mag 7/10
Its becoming ridiculous just how far off different reviewers ratings of games are from one another.

Well, there's a certain proportionality between awareness level of an outlet, the moneyhats and review scores.

Take the new Tony Hawk game for example... Most outlets give it quite low scores (~5 many of them actually), yet some magazines (the bigger ones) rate it pretty high... Now how can that be??

This has also nothing to do with bias, this is plainly paying off reviewers! Sad but true!

EDGE gave it an 8, but they're tougher than others (or so they say...).

GameSpot's score is a joke. That would even make 1crap embarrased.

Yeah but look at the exposure GS is getting.

They have a pretty simply system.
Take a well liked, well made game that scored highly everywhere and rate it badly = 54680674389573248957 hits.
