Anyone encounter this freezing bug after planet 4 or 5 in the retail copy of the game?

I read on GAF that there was a problem similar to this in the pre-release review copy and IG were aware of it.
Sorry for the double post, but my original got lost in the main R&C thread.

Yeah, but you have to wonder if they'll end up recalling all manufactured copies to solve that and the weird installation bug.

i didn't think this came out til the 30th or 31st?
cause i reserved mine (to get the demo) and that's what they said.
Hopefully this will be fixed before the pal release. Are you guys sure its not just freezing up like Resistance did occassionally on the large Manchester level?

Looks like they rushed it to market.
Another bug found has problems with just getting the game to play at all.

Your confused. That freezing wasn't a bug. It was the Bishop of Manchester trying to screw up the blasphemy that was, fighting in the cathedral.
OOOOOH sorry wrong thread.
The bug mentioned in the OP is NOT in the final code. It was only in the review code sent out a week earlier.

i've got a feeling this is being blown out of all proportions. perhaps they knew about the bug which is why it was put back so that they could check how bad it was... perhaps when they realized that the bug didn't happen on many PS3s and that it was easy to work around, Sony then gave them the go ahead to release it as planned? at least those that had already reached retail

I havent had any problem with mine (great game so far) as far as in game "bugs".
Although it was odd, when I loaded the game it stated that I didnt have enough hard disk space for save files (I have 160gig in my PS3). So when I uninstalled the R&C demo and then re-ran the full title I didnt have any problem with save space. Im not sure if this is a personal experience or others have noticed it.
But anyways there hasnt been any "game destroying" bugs or anything of the like and I have played about 1.5-2 hours.
EDIT:
Ok guys its common and its not a big deal. The bug I experienced has been seen elsewhere -
http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/23/ratchet-and-clank-future-glitch-may-halt-play/
and of course Joystiq blows it out of proportion.
EDIT AGAIN:
Neverfuckingmind Viper already posted a link for it :)

Ultimately sure it will in a very few choice scenarios, but for anyone to make this into a catastrophe is simply ridiculous.
Issues like this have been found in several games currently available (and some of them sold very well).

I ran into the bug. Just restart the system and keep going. Yes, I do have a retail version that was sealed and boxed, and yes, it is final code.
Your version will probably do the same thing. Don't freak out, just restart and it should be fine. Worked for me, I'm on the 11th planet now I think. The game is huge and very very long.

I beat the game and it froze twice on me, but both times were not long after the auto-save so I didn't really lose any progress. It was just a bit annoying to have to reset the PS3. There are some unlocks after you beat it, so it has some good replay value, and I am about half way through it with no issues.

 same here....
I will say this game is quite buggy, but it still doesn't stop the awesomeness of the gameplay, story, visuals, and humor from stampeding all over your FACE!!

I agree. The game was extremely polished in many areas, but in others it seems they rushed it out. I finished the game twice inside two weeks and experienced the game freeze at level load bug once. A quick reboot fixed it, but this type of bug is almost unknown in console games. I also got stuck in the gyro-cycle course on the lava planet, and also had to reboot. The QA these games go through should have found these bugs.
Speaking of the lava world, it seems that more was planned for the cycle course, but was cut out. There is a room with two pilers in it. During normal play, you jump over these two pilers, but they have launchers on them, so I decided to see what would happen if I back-tracked onto them. After much aggregation (due to the camera not moving to a usable angle) I found that both launchers just put you on the ledge leading out of the room. What was the point of the room then? I suspect they couldn't get an obstacle to work right, so they just jumped over it instead of removing it. As I said, it looks like the game was rushed. btw. it was at the entrance to this room that I got stuck.

Yeah, I did that exact same thing (including getting stuck there! :-p), If you've unlocked developer commentary you could listen to that and see if they mention cutting anything out of there, 'cause it certainly was odd to have those things there (took me forever to backtrack to that pad and then land on the pad before that since the camera was trying to prevent me from going there...)

I agree, I have a strong feeling the game was rushed too. I think Sony made Insomniac get to the early release so they could have a month apart between R&C and Uncharted.

If this game was rushed, I am scared to think what they could do with a game thats not.

Well not rushed that much lol. But rushed to the extent that they had to cut down on testing time I believe. Maybe a week or two getting cut out allowed some bugs to get through. They were probably on schedule pretty much just Sony wanted that week difference in there.
But I agree, Insomniac is talented and of course we still ended up with an amazing game save for a few little troubles.
