We have quite a few members with the Eye so far and there has been a request about Eye games and some user experience would be nice as well.
I find that EoJ is actually a good bit of fun, although the setup is a bit of a hassle. Does anyone esle have it??
Oh and how the hell is the game won. I played a rank match online and I won but Im not sure how I did so.

EYEcreate is cool too, especially because its free. :thumbl:

I'm an EU gamer with Eye of Judgment, Eye Create, Trials of Topoq and Creature Feature.
I haven't played any card games before and even though the rules in EoJ aren't very clear to begin with (the guidance videos in the game could be a lot better and there are no comprehensive guidelines in the manual) the game is really fun and after a lot of games, the strategic element finally emerges. It's a really cool game.
I tried Trials of Topoq once and had quite some trouble getting the ball to roll. Even though you do know what to do, it doesn't always react like it should. I spend more time getting it to work than actually playing the game. However, I only tried it once, so maybe things get better.
Haven't tried Creature Feature yet.
Haven't tried a chat session yet.
Eye Create is fun to play, but I still have a lot to try out. GTace, thank you for the fun "that's how I look in real life"-picture :)
The four array microphone is really good. Works flawless in Eye Create and in Warhawk!! :thumbr:
EDIT: I also have Aqua Vita...

i noticed that too. no reviews, no vids, it's almost as if EYE hasn't been released! i expected vids of Aqua by now at least. first it's fud and now it's info lock down... if Nintendo had released EYE, it would be everywhere, even in your fridge

how does it work? is it just a matter of scaring the fish or can you attract them to you?
BruceWayneIII
10-28-2007, 10:09 PM
It's very subtle. You can make a small splash in the water and scare them a bit - or attract them. Maybe it's a question of how violently you are doing it. If you swipe your hand across the screen, it seems that they can be scared to. Nothing much really. I think it's intended to run in the background and react when you pass by.

That sounds like you compare it to stuff like Yugioh or however its written and i dont like that. 8( lol
What i like in EOJ is that, even when you use cards, its still more a game than anything else.
No collecting cards like a maniac, no card trading etc.
I must admit that i turned the music off in the game because its annoying while playing imo, its good music but it doesnt fit to the game.
The whole look of the creatures is great and not comparable to stuff like Yugi...(maybe comparable to this Magix stuff... cant remember), thats why i wrote look at my avatar. ;)
The interactivity with those monsters is cool too.

I have a question regarding EoJ ... I remember during the initial presentation of this game, there was a lot more interaction then just laying a card on the mat. It was a lot better where you get the animations on the mat, and not a cheesy cutscene. Also it was very interactive, like the guy gave his finger to this TRex looking character and it tried to bite it. What happened to all this? Or am I missing the options somewhere?

Got EoJ yesterday, and really get that 'next gen' feeling about it. You know the scene in Star Wars where 3CPO and Chewie are playing 3d chess ? It's kind of like that.
So far I have lost against the computer, but then I started watching the instructional video and realised that you can battle as well as summon a new creature on each turn !
However, I think it is very tight that you only get 30 cards in the box, and not 60. It says on the box that it is 1-2 player, but you can't play with 2 people without buying another deck. I am going to email the publisher on this point and see what they say.

Guys, I'm thinking about picking up a couple PS Eyes this X-Mas as gifts for family and I need your help. I've been searching the interweb for impressions on the PS Eye and I've had little luck. Here's what I'm trying to find out about:
1. Video chat quality - How's the quality of the video chat over PSN? Any noticable lag?
2. Microphone quality - Is the built in microphone a realistic replacement for a dedicated headset for online games? Is there any interference from TV speakers ect. that reduce the PS Eye's ability as a online game headset?
Thanks Guys.

Depends on your internet connection, if you move the camere while chatting the image stutters a LOT
2. Microphone quality - Is the built in microphone a realistic replacement for a dedicated headset for online games? Is there any interference from TV speakers ect. that reduce the PS Eye's ability as a online game headset?
The mic is better than the on from my SOCOM2 headset. LOL
The problem when you use it as a headset replacement is that the voices from the other player are going over your speakers and that could be annoying.
For chatting its more comfortable than with a headset thats for sure (using the EyeToy atm).

11-13-2007, 01:14 AM
just to add on to what GT said about video quality over PSN
when in a chat room over the PSN press select, and it shows you everybodys connection speed. But yourself it doesn't show up.
1. 50kbps-100kbps - pretty bad picture
2. 100kbps-200kbps - ok picture
3. 200kbps and up - great picture
it all depends on your internet upload speed

It was in the 1200kbps range, when we first started chatting.
Then when I invited sarge in it was 200kbps still good.
but then when killa came in, it went down to 100kbps ok.
the only thing that gets me is, when you have 4 people or more in a chat room. Everybodys connection speed or quality goes down to 50Kbps-100kbps. I don't why that happens.

I guess it has to split bandwidth since it's receiving and transmitting to and from each person.
Has anyone used it is a headset for online gaming? Does it discern between your voice and ambient noise very well?
So 3 people chatting on broadband wireless connections should see stutter free video @ 60fps?

WOW! They were playing Combat from the 2600 Atari. But what's interesting is not only did they bring a still image to life with full functioning physics, but they were able to completely change the image on screen by simply scanning a toy model. :worthy: That's beyond amazing. Looks like Anton replied to a question posed by Gdenso :)

@gdenso: Movable turret(s) is something that I really want to implement myself also :) We’re trying to keep things simple with this, so top priority is coming up with an easy to use interface for such a feature.
Movable turrets would be insane... overall I'm really impressed with these videos and so was my roomate :-D
The Demo was awesome. It will be interesting to see what kind of games will Sony develop based on this TECH demo.
The most interesting will be the reviews for the game ... :) how reviewers will find ways to trash the game, the graphics are poor, copy of 360 game nothing new, no target audience blah blah...

Yes, I'm glad he answered it :)
With that feature, the options are pretty much limited to your own imagination. It's pretty much "Draw your own game" type of game!

Ah, I don't think you really need to know how to draw. As long as you make out shapes and such :p

Playstation.Blog: New PLAYSTATION Eye Games Available Today (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2007/11/20/new-playstation-eye-games-available-today/)
What’s up PS3 fans? By now, you’ve probably tried EyeCreate and made some pretty impressive videos. But now you’re wondering what else is out there for the PSEye? Well, I’m pleased to let you know we’ve got 2 more cool titles coming out later today: Operation: Creature Feature and Aquatopia.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2214/2050818896_b5299523e2.jpg
In Operation: Creature Feature, you control tiny creatures from another dimension through the motion of your hands. Help them navigate obstacles through earth, water, fire and ice to escape from captivity. The more you save, the happier these creatures will be. They’re completely attracted to motion so watch out for other objects blocking you through the mazes. Be sure to check it out on the PS Store and download it for $4.99.

Have you ever wanted an aquarium but didn’t want the hassle of cleaning the tank? Well show off the awesome power of your HD display with Aquatopia. Now, using your PS3 combined with the PSEye, you can have a virtual tank with both salt and freshwater fish. It’s virtual, so mix and match all you want. Remember when they said don’t tap on the glass? Well, feel free to with this tank. The action your PSEye captures will interact with the fish. You can even feed them by dabbing your hands in the top of the water. Get it from the PS Store for $1.99
That’s it for now. Hope you like the new projects coming out for the PSEye on PS3. Be sure to check back as more will be on the way in the coming months.
Enjoy!
enjoy us.

I'm not so sure about the Aqua title. I mean, from the description, there doesn't seem to be an objective. If anything, it sounds like a screen saver.

Simple programs written by the PSEye R&D crew that were displayed on the PSBlog recently. It caught the eye (lol) of many blog viewers who questioned whether or not they would get the ability to use Eye for the same thing. I tell you now that I like it, and to be able to make your own little eye games would finally nail the whole concept of "user generated content" home (lol again!).

I didn't want to make a new thread on this so I decided to add it here since the discussion seems to cover various points on the PlayStation Eye.
Just to cover a small passage in the interview, this part really got my attention:
Interviewer:Where do you see your work evolving in the years ahead to come? People have always fantasized about a "vitual reality" gaming experience; is that the ultimate endgame for you?
Richard Marks:For me, the ultimate endgame isn't what people think of as vitual reality, where everything is completely artificial and you're completely submerged in an artificial world. I think of it as mixing the real and virtual world in a very seamless way. EyeToy is the most basic, simple example. There's a video of you and there graphics pasted over the top of it as a game. But more interesting examples are what happens in movies now. In a very controlled way, they mix real actors with virtual things all the time and you can't tell the difference. That's a really powerful thing. My son, who is a really big Spider-Man fan, should be able to say, "Spider-Man!" and [suddenly] he's wearing a virtual Spider-man costume and is able to shoot webs out of his hands. That's one of the things I'm striving to see happen.
This so reminds me of that EyeToy demo awhile back where the user was interactive with vitual objects on screen - kinda like Minority Report. Since the PSeye is a lot more advanced, I'm just wondering how close to that goal can he realize this "seamless" world. It alreadly appears that you can not only scan an implement realworld objects into the game with this new device, but you can also interact and manipulate them.

Eye of Marvel; PlayStation Eye playing cards on the way?
We don't usually do 'rumour and speculation' here at PS3 Attitude, but this seems strong enough to run with.
We've heard that Marvel will be releasing cards to use with the Eye of Judgement (or Eye of Judgment if you're American/Sony) next year to further expand the groundbreaking title's gameplay.
The new cards will feature all your Marvel favourites and will make use of the existing Eye of Judgement playing mat. Equally, the game could come out as a seperate Blu-ray disk or PS Store download but 'require The Eye of Judgment' in order to play it.
The way you play the game itself will change under the Marvel card set and most likely be supported by a future game update release. Assuming this is all true it would certainly make the Eye of Judgement less of a niche title and more of a mainstream winner, so we have our fingers crossed.
As soon as we get our hands on an official press release, this story remains in the rumour pot. If it were to happen, we expect it will go ahead around March next year.
[Thanks for the heads up 'P']

I have one but haven't gotten around to buying any of the game yet. None of them have really screamed "BUY ME!". I use it for video chat only ATM.

Eye of Judgment patch in the wild
Posted on January 8th, 2008 at 17:11 EDT
As the holidays came to a close and we all resumed our normal routines, we finally caught up with some older titles that had felt neglected. While we were getting our Warhawk's blown up for the thousandth time, the guys over at PS3fanboy were playing our favorite (...and only) card battle title for PS3, Eye of Judgment.
Upon booting up the game, they were prompted to download a surprisingly old new patch (think about it). The title had previously forced players to leave online matches open to the general public - no longer. Private matches are now an option. Your card-battling brethren won't have to rush to accept your invites any more.
There are a few other minor changes, such as the ability select your voice input device from within the title. The patch will contain a list of all changes upon its download.

Computer is pretty hard.
Dont forget that you win when you place 5 cards before your opponent, dont just try to kill your opponents monsters.

:thumbl: yea, but I was at least hoping by now to have won a match... kinda makes me feel stupid having spend the trades on this instead of burnout... knowing i'm sucking this bad.

I enjoy EoJ but the troublesome setup simply isnt worth playing the game (that and the damn thing takes so long to complete a match), so I usually dont bother playing it.

I had issues with cards not being scanned, and it was too frustrating to continue.
