Google Translate from lusoplay.com:
Where stops The Getaway 3, or even Eight Days?
It should be a question of many fans and beyond.
These were two games that caused furor at the disclosure of their video presentation. But a silence pairou on its production.
But now that new information came to the top, and succeeded Lusoplay.com know something more envelopes these titles. The source is safe, so everything diremos is extremely unique.
We know that the month of November will be the month of all revelations, and even prepared a small event for these two games.
We have details of the production of The Getaway 3, title under development by Team Soho, under the supervision of Sony Europe.
The state of development is already advanced, and now the whole structure of the environment and scenarios finalized. The team now turns to the structure of the story and the whole plot, as well as the "gameplay.
Our source ensures that the game is equal to the level graphic video shown at GDC 2006, which shows the quality of the game in real time.
Much expectation exists around, especially The Getaway 3, and the LusoPlay.com is on top of information and when new information emerged, or even images or videos will be the first to know.
They want to know the release date?
For the forecasts will be 2 Quarter of 2008.
We wait.

- The city and art assets for Getaway are complete
- Getaway and Eight Days will be at a Sony event in November
- Getaway matches the tech demos showed at GDC06
- EST Release date: Q2 2008
:D
The timing is right for another Gamer's Day in November (twice a year, roughly 6 months from each other), and surely they have a lot to advertise next month, mostly with the launch of the $399 PS3 in the US. I wouldn't give a lot of credibility to the original Portuguese source regarding Getaway and Eight Days, but I find another Gamer's Day taking place soon likely.

I doubt we will see these games in 2008, but who knows...
I would like to see more info in Socom Confrontations & I hope the game has made more progress from a visual perspective. *COD4 is some stiff competition IMO.*

Put these in 2008 and make the year better than it already is.
Here's to hoping for that and that we get a sneak preview for November :)

I don't think COD4 & SOCOM are in competition necessarily though -- SOCOM Confrontations is an online-only game that's basically just transferring the SOCOM experience to PS3 to hold people over until SOCOM IV, and doesn't have a single player like CoD4.
anyhoo, we'll see about these come November...

FUCK YEAH!
Excuse the huge fonts but these two are near the top of my list of highly anticipated PS3 titles!
I can't wait to see more, I don't care if it disappoints (gameplay or graphics wise), Getaway has the best presentation ever and 8 Days just had an excellent atmosphere.

He is missing an arm but what can you do, PS3 can't handle much, they had to get rid of an arm to keep it 15FPS.

I know, but the longer they delay the title the higher the expectations IMO...
There's been plenty of time since the last Socom release so I don't see why they can't release a full blown title in 2008. Hopefully they are taking all the knowledge aquired by Guerilla, Naughty Dog & Insomniac to produce something simply amazing. To be honest Socom is one of the biggest known IPs owned by Sony & it baffles me that Sony is pushing Killzone so hard. Considering the online community behind Socom you could debate the title would rival the hype gathered by Halo3. I have several friends who would purchase a PS3 today if there was an amazing Socom title...

This is great news. Don't know why a Portuguese site came up with this, but I tend to believe this rumor, since there are quite a bunch of Portuguese people living (and working) in London and there's no reason why they would make things up. The Getaway has to come out in 2008, 'cos we first saw it at E3 2005, that's almost 2.5 years ago and it was running realtime at decent framerates back then! The trailer for Eight Days at E3 2006 was probably a target render, much like the first Uncharted trailer. Uncharted clearly surpassed it's target, so I have no doubts that Eight Days will do the same. These games were painfully missing at Leipzig, so it was a bit expected that Sony was going to organize a separate event. It's time for SCE London to finally show us the goods!

True that, but we'll definitely see Confrontations early 2008 IMO, but that still isn't the next real SOCOM. I'm sure Zipper's working their asses off right now prepping SOCOM IV, and even if it is ready to show I don't think they'd want to steal from Confrontations before the game even comes out... SOCOM IV by 2008 is a little soon IMO, but here's hoping -- you're definitely right that SOCOM's community is the biggest of Sony's online guns (though Warhawk & Resistance have definitely built up a respectable community IMO), and that game could really do some damage :-D

^Let's be real Warhawk & Resistance are not even close to the online community for Socom. I remember playing Socom 2 and having 20K to 30K playing on any given night. If you look at all of the Warhawk servers you may have a fraction of that playing at one given time... I would say the only console online community larger than Socom would be Halo. I just don't feel Sony is taking the Socom community as serious as Microsoft with Halo.
I know Sony takes the position of one game not being more important than the brand or platform, but they need to take advantage of the huge following for Socom before it's too late. If Confrontations is not a visually impressive multiplayer experience and delayed until late spring or summer 2008 I doubt the game will sale well. It will get crucified by the gaming media and will be dismissed by the Socom community. If Sony is not careful the Socom community may move on to something else even if it's an FPS (COD4)...
That's my 2 cents.
*Did not mean to get off subject, but this is somewhat related to the November Sony event.*

I think he also agrees that Resistance and Warhawk are not as big lol, just that they've built some good foundation for themselves :P

Agreed, I couldn't believe back in E3 of 05 showing how good Getaway looked. Using just the Cell. But think of it now, three years later plus using the RSX!!!
