Playlogic, an independent games developer and publisher based in the Netherlands, have told UK trade magazine MCV that they are working on a new IP for the PS3. The game is still in the very early stages, but they are confident that it will be a worthy addition to the console's lineup. Playlogic have also made a promise to increase their presence within the UK thanks to successes in the region with Obscure II, Infernal and Xyanide Resurrection.
The in-house development studio is currently working on a Wii port of their survival horror title Obscure II as well as a new Simon the Sorcerer game for the PC (yes - we're excited too!), both of which will be out in the first quarter of 2008. Today's announcement marks the first time that Playlogic will have moved into the next generation and we're always happy to see developers jump onboard the PS3 bandwagon. We look forward to seeing what they come up with

People ask why I think PS3 won't go down the route of many early bad starting consoles, simple: Sony has this charm that draws developers.
If say another console brand started late, was hard to develop for etc, more devs would have left it alone, but the brand recognition of PS draws these developers to work on PS3 and put up with challenges.
Honestly I have no idea what Playlogic is but the fact they are independent and surviving in next-gen development suggests they are a very passionate bunch which is excellent news of course.

masteratt, even the DC had some great 3rd party support. As did GC for the first year.
It's the sales that are what get compared, not the library.
I don't like it when a dev says, "Hey, new IP here." It's like Universal saying, "Hey, we're going to make another movie." These fucktards need to wait until they have something worth reporting to report.

Yes but DC and Cube weren't hard to develop for.
The fact that these devs are not saying "ah, fuck PS3, why bother?" shows what I mean about the PS/ Sony brand.

Yep, the industry is not grown yet unfortunately.

The "hard to develop for" line seems selective to me. One day it's hard to develop for, the next day it isn't as hard as the media makes it out to be. I guess in reality it's developer selective...hard for some, not so much for others.

Well even Kojima said early on they were having problems with textures and stuff so it's definitely tougher.
I wouldn't call it hard, just unique to develop for which was the situation with the Emotion Engine early on I believe.
Anyway let's not talk about THAT again.
The bottom line is, yes it's a challenge but of course you get more out of it if you work at it and it's no use giving it the "boo-hoo, PS3 is tougher to work for" attitude, they should do their job and DEVELOP, instead of sticking to what they can easily do.

True, that was a major trump card Sony had for the PS2 but even without EA, it had it's own highly reputable sports series to compensate and great support from many other 3rd parties.
Like I said though, it's beside the point since we've seen consoles fail, or just come in 3rd, regardless of the support they start with.
Masteratt, I personally agree with you. From what I've read, it does have it's own quirks that makes things tougher at the onset. But you also hear almost daily the opposite from some other dev or something.
