Wii is still selling twice as fast as PS3 in Japan, as figures for October have shown, but things are starting too pick up for Sony's slow burner.

Nintendo sold 110,415 consoles in October, compared to 47,183 PS3 sales, according to figures compiled by Japanese magazine publisher Enterbrain.

October is the fourth month in a row which saw the gap between PS3 and Wii sales shrink, as the Wii's 6-1 lead over PS3 posted in June has slowly settled on 2-1 in that region.

Meanwhile, the Xbox 360 trails with 18,717 sales in the same period. Soz Microsoft.

Mario Galaxy is also out and about in Japan, so we expect Wii to pick up the pace again. Where's Sony's killer Christmas game?
Christmas will be interesting.

We make exceptions for allowing multiplatform game threads in then PS3 section, but this article clearly deals directly with multiple consoles.

i don't see that as a reason to close this thread. it's about how the PS3 is closing the gap. it is about the PS3. on the flip side though it also has negative connotations for the Wii (that's the only concern) if we can discuss this without getting too personal, then surely it could be left here

Hmm....still confused. This is PS3 related news is it not? And this is the PS3 section right? lol... Same if the artical was about the wii selling better then the PS3. I don't see a problem with a thread in the nintendo section and general gaming.

Haha thats true, just imagine Smash Bros later on this year and it's a single KO to the competition. Im glad MGS4 wasnt coming out this year so it gets the best possible sales with no real competition later on down the road. Plus making it even better with additional time is always great.

And for the record, the PS3 isn't gaining on Wii. The PS3 would have to outsell the Wii for it to be "gaining" on it.
