Assertions:-

*Hmm those 360 sales are alright, but i'm expecting November to be Sonys month based on all the 40GB SKU sales talk.

*Another $50 off the 360 very soon?

*Nintendo is quite amazing in its hardware sales, but where are the software sales? However Wii play will be the best selling game of this gen destroying Halo3

*Its also good to see the Top 10 SW full of quality titles rather than the assortment of EA Sports crap (too bad Pro Evolution Soccer did'nt make it FIFA is ok)

*A clear picture of the wii owner is appearing, and i'm not talking about the wii owners on this forum.

Did you miss the fact that GHIII sold very well?

Wii has 9 games over a million in sales. 3 of them 3rd party. Sure, the X360 has many more than that but it also had a free year head start. PS3 only has 2 million sellers, both 1st party.

Looks about what I expected. PS3 will do a bit better next month, between 200-300k but will still lag far behind the others who will also double their sales.

GHIII sold well on every system, other than that Wii play and ... well you can see for your self no Metroid on that list

I'll re-itterate this point

With the sales the wii is revieving Year to date nearly doubble the 360 I'd simply expected the wii to have a stronger presence on the software top ten. Nothing more nothing less Viper

EDIT: also where could I find a list of million sellers for this generation.

Keep in mind the X360 still has a bigger US install base that has had a year to grow complacent with their current games.

Also not listed is Wii Sports. While it is a pack in, it is considered the first game purchase for many people. Just as when Mario was packed in with older consoles, gamers didn't always pick up a second game right away because they already had something to play that came with it. In that sense, the list is missing a game that 'sold' 519k for the month.

In terms of who are Wii owners? It seems to have the most diverse user base of all 3 new consoles. On PS3/X360 family oriented games sell very poorly and only the most advertised, hyped and hardcore themed games seem to sell best. That's very niche. On Wii you get your family games doing well obviously but you also get RE4 Wii Edition selling a million units.

speaking of family oriented games on ps3... how's ratchet doing in sales?

I have to admit, seeing these embarrassing PS3 numbers month in, month out is starting to get to me.

As I said 40958230 times, I really got into gaming during PS1 glory days so this is highly unorthodox for me.

C'mon PlayStation!
You can do it!!

JAPAN - 11K first week. (Bombed over there)
US - 38k last week. 182k total. That's better than HS, Warhawk and Lair at least.

Not sure if you only own a Ps3-ps2, but I recommend buying a Wii/DS/360 to play other worthwhile games in the meantime. PS3 will have good games next year no doubt.

Well I can confirm one thing -so far-, according to Howard Stinger the PS3 sold around 100k in NA the week they dropped the price which while that is good in comparison to last weeks of 64k, it is still less than 360 and Wii.

If I had to guess software numbers for this month, it would be CoD4 360, Mario Galaxy Wii, Rockband 360 as the first top 3

Guitar Hero 3 will beat Rock Band. It's a million seller in the US on X360 already.

CoD4 X360 is a possibility.

What's that got to do with my post?

And why do you ask which one I own when I said "been really into gaming since the PS1 glory days".

You are craaaaaaaaaaaaaaazey!

Well GH3 sold most of what it will last month, not in November.

True, I was going by calendar month, not NPD month.

GHIII will sell better than Rock Band because of name recognition. But I own both, and I can honestly say Rock Band is loads better. The track list alone is light years beyond that of GHIII, and the career mode is three times longer (guitar, vocals, AND drums).

Wait till Rock Band has been out for a while. I guarantee that when we get to GHIV vs. RBII, Rock Band will be the victor.

You just sound down on the PS3 and video game in general. I thought I would help entice you to keep gaming by trying out other systems if you don't own them already. haha, sorry.

Oh, haha.

Thanks a lot man but no I was strictly talking sales.

MGS by itself is enough to make me love PS.
But there is more than that on PS3 (just :p).

Very poor sales.

Sony needs to pick up their game sales in both the third party and first/second party offerings.

Just bad numbers.
USA is most likely lost to due to their very poor handling of the situation.
What is very worrying though are the poor game sales. I mean, Ratchet should have performed better than that even though the game is more towarded to children and with a PS3 at $400 i doubt many of them have a PS3 right now.
I hope Uncharted will perform much better because first, it looks like a great game holding to its hype, secondly, with the rising cost of game development, you better sell a lot of games to break even. Not really sure the bombs of Lair and Heavenly Sword are pleasing Sony exec. to say the least.
Finally, with this generation, we can say we tested the tolerable limit of video game console price launch for the average joe. Between $300 and $400 at the max. Be sure Sony exec. will keep that in mind for the next next-gen.

Interesting fact. The NPD group just admitted that the Wii, DS and PS2 may be well underestimated because the no longer get information from Toys R Us. TRU is a major retailer that sells more Wii's, DS's and PS2's than other systems by a very wide margin.

Unfortunately, they didn't venture to guess how underestimated they are.

However, the numbers for Wii may have balanced out to some degree since NPD gained Amazon.com in place of TRU last month. The Wii has been the best selling system on Amazon.com since it launched last November. Though given the statement by NPD, it's safe to assume that Amazon doesn't sell as many consoles as TRU does and all 3 will remain underestimated.

Also to note: Just in case some of you don't know, NPD hasn't tracked Wal-Mart for years so all reports were underestimated though I believe they extrapolate sales data from Wal-Mart.
