^ AMAZING result thought they have to beat spain away to qualify which isnt likely
Croatia losing 2-0 was also a shock

well, that was lucky.
Sad really that we have to rely on another team to save us. No doubt we'll go and lose to Croatia now...
Actually it's more likely that we'll qualify and then underachieve in the actual tournament. That sounds better :P

Wow you guys are pretty pessimistic.
Maybe that's why your team is doing bad?
Come on, it's pretty bad when we have to rely on another team to save our qualification hopes. This shit happens all the time, we're put into groups that we should coast through without any problems, and make it overly difficult by underachieving.

We all know that we'll get kicked out at the quarter-finals. No point qualifying, really.
I live next to Wembley, so the celebrations if (when) we beat Croatia should be jokes.

"oh what the fuck?!" "damn we suck!"

Tough luck mates, it's hard to give sympathy when you all expected to fail though lol.
Any analysis on what went wrong?
New manager?

well, the first croatia goal was a massive goalkeeper error. the second was 'cause the defence just... i dunno, they were shit. and the third was cause we got lazy after coming back from the first two.
and yeah, mclaren didn't help much.

its like.. we scored the second, everyone was happy and shit, and instead of pressing on.. we sortof sat back, and conceded, at which point we started playing longball to crouch and bent again
meh well

We didn't deserve to go through on the night, its heartbreaking but at least now mac can go and we can look for a decent manager, the players didn't do enough crouch was wining headers and no-one was running on to collect the flicks/knock downs all three goals were bad defending we backed off too much and didnt close them down thats an invite to run forward (causing two of the three goals) carson...i feel kinda bad for him he's a great keeper but will now have that on his back for a long time
Conclusion : Fuck mclaren
it was a terrible team selection and a terrible formation
putting Carson in the net in such an important game? starting Lampard after knowing he cant play with Gerrard nevermind Barry? Crouch up front alone after hardly playing all season? Richards, Campbell, Lescott and Bridge in defense? bringing on Bent, Defoe and Beckham who have hardly played all season?
true there were injuries but we still have the players to at least draw a home game, McClaren was never good for the job...i'm glad in a way

^ As am i, and 90% of the nation i think, it may of been a blessing in disguise. Our defense well he was kinda forced to play that defense but i agree totally with the lampard thing, i understand he dropped robbo but carson?...why not james? We needed a keeper with confidence and experience in important games and carson doesn't have that playing in the premiership. Playing 4-5-1 at home is a joke its a defensive formation.
Good riddance to the fat fucks...bring on jose!

yeah, as much as i hate to say it, mourinho would be great as the england manager.

bringing on Bent, Defoe and Beckham who have hardly played all season?
In truth, who else was he going to put on? he had James, Ashley Cole, Brown, Hargreaves on the bench, and none of them are likely to make a massive threat on the goal really

Mc Claren = Joke.
The man made so many terrible descions.
Just in the croatia game, the most important game. He doesnt even have Robinson on the bench, let alone start. Puts Carson in goal, whom to my knowledge has never played an international. So massive pressure on him.
He plays 4-5-1, a formation that has hardly ever been used for the england team, let alone in any of the players clubs. So they are trying to play a formation that they've never tried.
He has the lanky-est player in the premiership start, but has possibly the greatest crosser for england on the bench because he's too old and slow supposedly.
utter joke. I'm glad we didnt qualify. We would have made a laughing stock out of ourselves on the pitch for the first time in a long long time instead of the fans.
In truth, who else was he going to put on? he had James, Ashley Cole, Brown, Hargreaves on the bench, and none of them are likely to make a massive threat on the goal really
why not start Brown at right back where he has been all season and put Richards and Campbell at center back where they have played all season (club) and put Cole at left back, Gerrard, Beckham, Cole and Barry in Midfield and Crouch up front with Defoe, at least then Defoe would have a full game to make an impact instead of the second half...James in net and then i think England would have gone through
i'd have put Carrick in the team over Lampard, Lampard just seemed to try and go for glory or pass to Joe Cole
Any thoughts on who will be the next manager?
Kay B
11-23-2007, 07:57 PM
why not start Brown at right back
Wes brown should not play football....period
put Richards and Campbell at center back where they have played all season (club) and put Cole at left back
Im sure he would have, had cole been fit. As far as i know coles injured.
i'd have put Carrick in the team over Lampard
You'd pick carrick over hargs?
As for next manager i have a feeling it will be a foreign manager though personally id LOVE to see harry redknapp in charge
