That was like 20 Hollywood conventions rolled into one ¬_¬

I admire Will Smith's acting though, I think he's always been great.

to be fair, it is based on a book that was written in the 50s. and ridley scott is fairly reliable.

Otherwise, it seems it's just more ordinary Hollywood.

The story seems great, however I think its ruined by Will "My Ego is too big for my head" Smith. I'll probably see it once its out on DVD/BD via Netflix but I make it a point never to see Will Smith movies in the cinema.

Cool trailer, I watched it this time OG :P

For some reason I think this could be a super awesome videogame lol. It could be STALKER, but you play as Will Smith and this scenario seems far cooler and more fun :):):)

Doesn't look like too great a movie though, I'm certain it will be solid as a watch though. Will Smith has that effect of making things awesome.

fantastic book. actually most anything by richard matheson is fantastic.

I agree the book was great, very fun to read. And i agree Matheson is a very good author. I think Prey was the first story i read that actually scared me.

The movie looks cool, my girlfriend and i will most likely see it this friday. If it ends anything like the book it will be the best movie Will Smith has starred in ever imo.

Chris Farley should have been the main character. Despite his being dead and all. Or if that didn't work out, Chuck Norris should have been.

So basically Chuck Norris should be.

Im not that hyped about this movie anymore to be honest. I just got the book from a friend who real half of it and threw it in the trash because it was nothing like the previews for the movie. I dunno why he THREW it away, but its mine now. LoL.

I am Legend was really good...

Just in case anyone was on the fence about it...it wasn't too long, about a good hour 40 minutes or so...

Really just a good movie...Good ending...good theme...good flick;)

I dunno how much the book differed, i read something about a major part being left out that questioned doctor Nevell's intention and morality--but i don't care to read it after seeing the flick--because that story was good enough for me...

I hate when they build the story around one character, then crap out on the ending. Like in Rescue Dawn.

It was pretty intense.

The movie was really great. It really evoked my emotions alot more than I thought it would. A few parts were really incredibly sad, and I haven't seen a movie in a long time that effected me in that manner the way this movie did (no i wasnt crying)

I really thought it was interesting to see him talking to all those manacins in the store. I'm not sure if it was because he was LOSING his sanity, or something he did to sort of hold on to it. I thought the part after Sam died where he's talking to the fake woman asking her to say hello to him was really well done. It was just really interesting to see how at the very end when he had finally lost his grip on reality and was just hoping against all odds that this manacin woman would speak to him

Gummy
12-18-2007, 03:24 AM
If this was to happen in real life, I'd probably try what he did.
Will Smith is way thinner in this movie, but ripped.

Ending felt short, I wonder if the book ended that way too, or something similar.

Its a good movie, but there is no denying it holds a rotten rating....

actually, it made a real turn for the better as the reviews started pouring in it seems. It held a 23% fresh rating (which means its rotten) when i last looked before the movie was released. Now it actually stands at fresh with 63%. Apparently critics arent tearing it up nearly as bad as i thought.

1st two thirds of the movie was one of the best zombie flicks I've seen. Last third = massive fail. Once he meets the girl and her kid the movie wimps out and pulls a Signs--another movie that I LOVED until the heavy-handed religious ending. Very disappointing.

I saw it. It was well-made, and Will Smith is always great, but it seemed a bit too much like the typical zombie thing with the predictable screamer moments and stuff. One thing, though.

Why did they have to kill the dog? That was a really really sad part.

Its pretty simple Phoenix...

Because they have to show him break down. They have to show how he just simply goes crazy after that. It was the only thing that helped keep him sane, and when you take it away you really see how hopeless he feels about all of this. He was pretty much committing suicide before he got rescued. After such a long time, they have to crack, and this provided a very good way to help push him over the edge.

well i really enjoyed this film all the way through right until the last 5 mins.

I really liked it how the creatures still cared for each other but the story didnt have to spell it out to you, the part where he had to kill his dog was great so well done and it needed to happen to make the story flow with a little more darkness. I didnt like how the ending went very god related it sort of underminde smiths whole character, he didnt believe in god, he saw god as a faulse hope because up til that point there was no help. seemed a little stupid his belief would change so fast. But to be honest im not sure of any other way i would have done it. i would have hated it more if he got out and went to the collony because he never wanted to leave new york. and all of them dying is a crappy ending so im not sure if there is any other 'good' way to end a film like that.

Overall a good film in my eyes, it's a buy on dvd so it's good imo.

The uncertainty would add a lot to the suspense.

[ Hate to be a cloud of negativity - but I have to . . . ]

This was a decent movie, but I'm not sure if it's anything more than rent worthy. I'm not going to spoil any of the plot, but the movie was presented in a very uncohesive way, almost to the point where you feel like you're being cheated out of storyline.

When the final scene rolled around all I had floating around in my head was.. "Where's the rest of the movie?"

I saw it a few days ago. I didn't like it at all. The special effects were not that great, there were visual flaws like blood from previous takes. The sound between scenes annoyed me how it cut in and out so fast with no cohesion. The story was very linear and got very religious at the end, the protagonist was not religious so this made it even worse that it changed so quickly. The part where the dog is attacked is really lame. He takes so long to overpower the zombie dog and it becomes too obvious what is going to happen. The ending was too "well, we are running out of tape, quick lets cut the rest of the stuff and end it". The ending was just too quick and flat and not exciting at all.

Sad, i loved Will's other work, especially the pursuit of happiness, which portrayed some brilliant acting, this time the movie sicked.

the bit with the dogs was fucking daft.

after the guy let the dogs go, where the hell did he go? he could have easily fucked up will smith. he was well hard. and if these things are intelligent enough have pets and girlfriends and can set traps, then why the urge to chase down regular people and eat them? if they are that hell bent on eating people, then why not go after each other... but surely they're smart enough to just hunt deer, or whatever.

and why the fuck were they so strong?! they could climb anything! surely they should be withered wrecks by now.

At first I thought this film was good but then after reading the book i realize that the movie blows. The ending to the book was just so awesome and they completely screwed it up in the movie, plus they completely dropped the whole vampire thing from the movie were as the book had it all. Which was one of the best parts of the book when hes doing all this research on why vampires are allergic to garlic and why they are afraid of the cross and such. So yeah if you like to read I suggest picking the book up, its really short only like 170 pages but its really good.

damn fellas...the movie wasn't that bad...

some of you guys are acting like you could direct a better film or somethin:huh:

was it "OMG AWEsomE best movie of the year!!!!"

not really...

but it was a few good scares, some good acting on Will's part (who cares if you knew the dog was gonna get infected, it was still good acting how Will took care of it afterwards) and the ending was cliche, but overall I think it's a hell of a movie--especially on the big screen.

Sheesh...some of you guys are so picky...

good luck with finding a mate;)

and how is a woman having faith in God and believing something blindly make the movie "all religious" what else did she really have to have faith in? She had to believe in something so that she could keep going...

sheesh..

Will believe he could find a cure...

She believe she could find a home...

I saw it and I thought it was pretty good.
But the ending was sort a retarded.

He COULD have just let the grenade explode everyone and still have gotten in with the woman and boy and survived. Like maybe he wanted to ensure that the grenade went off and killed them all... but I think he could have saved himself if he wanted to. Like seriously, he lived all those years surviving and then kind of was like just like "ok, the end."

Yea i think everyone can agree on that. The ending simply sucked. Like seriously, words cant express it, its was terrible!

But man, it was sure sad when he had to kill his dog...i felt...my friend felt like crying. His only friend left, and he had to suffocate him with his own hands.

And oh yea, there seems to be ONE guy, the freaky alien lookin people, he wore this lil vest. WHO THE FUCK WAS THAT!? And at the end he charged in, bashed his way through and started breaking the glass. Who is he the leader? Or was he mad cuz the one subject he captured was the daughter/girlfriend/wife/etc of that guy?
