hmmm, not doomed, next year will be better and tell us a lot more than this year.
Isn't that what us "fanboys" have been saying along?

Wow...
Exactly what Coded-Dude said.
We could've told you this garbage. Of course if the PS3 does terrible the whole way through the first year will be looked at as the most pivotal.
And of course anyone could tell you when there's actually some games out for the system and a lower price that the system will do better and 2008 and 09 will be far more indicative of where the console is going to go.
499 & 599 with Resistance and Motorstorm isn't exactly appealing to anyone's wallet. It's more of an achievement that it even got to where it did at that ludicrous price.
2008 and 2009 on the other hand with stuff like GTA IV and MGS4 and FF XIII among other third party material and the many, many first party games that have just been released and should be streaming out nicely for 2008 will be a lot more telling.
Exactly what us 'fanboys' would be saying, too right Coded.

Well curry you have to understand, they made this for people whom aren't always in the know like many of us are about videogames. They are essentially saying that Sony was overzelous about the PS3 it's first full year, and they needed to make some ground up.
Personally I think this entire generation will be screwy, I think next year we could see Xbox 360 being top, the year after that PS3 being top, the year after that Wii being top, and it will just go back and forth.

Sony was overzelous...
I don't think anyone would every disagree about this ;)
They definitely have to overcome an obstacle they made for themselves.
I wonder if this will a tight game the whole way through like you're saying, I definitely wouldn't say I don't think it could be like that at least.

Well not to sound like a fanboy (but I will) but the only thing making it a tight game is 360 doing bad in Japan, if 360 did as good as even Sony in Japan on a consistent basis as they do with PS3, then 360 would have the top sales right now, and if they kept it up, there would be no looking back for them.
By the end of the year though, or a little bit after 360 will have outsold the Xbox 1, and after that we will see if it can gain any for people new to the Xbox brand.
Also, I have been saying this for a few months, and you can all bash me for this, but I have a huge "hunch" that Nintendo will kind of abandon Wii around 2009 and refresh with something more comparable to PS3 and 360 in terms of tech, as if you even look at their business model it is more comparable to say Apple with iPods and Mac refreshes nowadays than how they used to do business. This will also ensure that Nintendo maximizes their profits. Because of this, I believe that either 360 or PS3 will ultimately win, and Nintendo will being to go "in between" the other two companies' hardware lifecycles.

I think they'll wait longer than 2009, but I do so the reason they might do it and try to move to the next faster.
However I think there are still more advantages in keeping the Wii in for a longer lifespan though and it's what I think they will do. I think they will refresh the Wii and bring another console after a normal length of a console's life.
I think keeping the same branded name and singular console for longer I think will help direct consumers who want a Wii-like experience to only one console and what is likely to be a very quickly growing wall of games on store shelves all associated with the one console. Another console so early and cutting fast doesn't make sense in my eyes from a business perspective, and of course to supplement all of this it's because I think the Wii is going to continue to do well in the long run and do well for at the very least a good 4 or 5 years.
