I don't give a damn what systems it's on: It's DNF, and I'm getting it. END OF STORY!

EDIT: Cliff, Gametrailers doesn't know shit about what platforms it'll be on, since 3DR hasn't announced them yet.

The only officially confirmed platform is PC.

Duke Nukem Forever planned for multi-format release

3D Realms plans to release the long awaited 2K Games published shooter on multiple platforms
Developer 3D Realms has told MCV that it is planning on a multi-format release for the highly anticipated shooter Duke Nukem Forever, which has been in development for around ten years.

The title, which is currently without a firm release date, was previously thought to be a PC exclusive, however 3D Realms CEO Scott Miller told us: “We plan to have a multi-platform release if possible. We're not nailing down a date yet, but we're excited about the game's progress.”

Duke Nukem Forever’s first trailer in around six years is due to be released today at 6pm GMT, according to CVG. 3D Realm’s George Broussard said: “It's not a full blown trailer like the 2001 trailer (but something like that is coming). I tried to be clear about that in the message board post, so just bear in mind that it's a teaser.”http://www.mcvuk.com/news/29191/Multi-format-release-planned-for-Duke-Nukem-Forever

The Duke is dead, leave the poor bastard alone all ready. And if this game does see the light of day, must I say "Daikatana"? Train wreck waiting to happen? When and if it does come out it will suck monkey choad. No game can be in development for 10 years and be good. Longer does not equal better. They only ones who can get away with that are Valve and Blizzard. The Duke is dead.....

EDIT: And IF the game does come out some day and gets a Gold level score(which is what any game should get for being in dev for 10 YEARS) I will make a video of me printing this post on paper and literally eating my words in a paper shake made in a blender.

Perhaps some clarification is in order. Nobody is interested in Duke Nukem Forever because they think that the long development time translates to a wonderful game. The people that are interested in the game are interested because it's Duke Nukem, and for nothing else. The long development time has absolutely no influence on our interest in the game. Nobody expects a masterpiece based on the development time, or even expect it in the first place.

It'll probably be one of the most straight-forward, shallowest shooters we will ever see, and Duke Nukem fans will love it. We already know there won't be any stealth elements, and we can logically expect not to see any duck-and-pop gameplay, because these aren't Duke's style. Probably won't be any weapon customization of any kind, either. Just run and gun and pick up better weapons along the way, with Duke spewing a neverending torrent of cheesy one-liners, and we'll love it.

Dude, I love the Duke too. But seriously, don't think that just because it is the Duke that they can go back in time and fall back on old assed gameplay elements. It is not going to be good just because it is the Duke. it is now 2007. hell, it might be 2009 before the game comes out. Old school gaming element's just wont cut it. And that does not mean having stealth moves or something. They should up date every single element of the Duke Nukem gameplay style to make it relevant to todays gaming FPS standards. If they don't, well, they will be the laughing stock of the gaming world. Oh wait, they all ready are.....

Vaporware 2007: Long Live the King

1. Duke Nukem Forever

We've got a new winner this year!

Just kidding. 3D Realms' Duke Nukem Forever, originally demoed in 1997, has spent nearly a decade in development. Rumor has it the fourth installment in the first-person shooter series has undergone multiple redesigns in this nine-plus years. There are even rumors the game will be ported to the Xbox 360 or souped up for Windows Vista Ultimate users. But really, after all this time, can you believe any of that?

Meanwhile, the grinning visage of Duke Nukem has practically become the official mascot of the Vaporware Awards. Sir Duke topped the Vaporware list in 2001 and 2002 after placing second in 2000. In 2003, we gave it the Lifetime Achievement Award in hopes we'd be able to stop writing about it.

But the readers brought Duke back in 2005, and he was voted King of Vaporware again in 2006. That's right -- two years in a row, three years after being retired from the list.

And yet 3D Realms claims it's still working on Duke Nukem Forever. We asked CEO Scott Miller to give us an update on the game's progress.

"Thanks to the overwhelming success of Prey (our latest IP, and another game that took 10 years to release), we have been afforded another five relaxing years on the making of DNF," he says.

The company still has a message on its website saying that the game will be released "when it's done."

Wired News readers are less than willing to believe the hype.

Chris G. suggests: "'Forever' is the operative word ... or how about 'never'?"

Steve: "I really wanted to play that one ... back in '97."

Squid Master says, "I might as well just start making my own version."

But nobody sums it up better than Bob Mime, who gives the reason behind his vote: "Duke. Just because it wouldn't be a Vaporware list without him."

10 years to dev time and no game = VERY BAD NEWS

If they were serious about producing a Duke Nuke Em game they would license a third party engine like the CryTek2 engine or the Unreal3 engine. Then just make the damn game. I wish that the Duke IP would be sold to another company so it could be resurrected for REAL. Damn 3D Realms to hell....
