lol, if it were valuable, then they'd be accused of trying to sway reviewers. But this is just cool.

Rather nice of them, but I've never been a fan of Rockstar. Half the time I get the impression that they're deliberately trying to start up controversy to spur sales, which does nothing more than get more idiots like Jack Thompson on the industry's back.

And I don't understand the draw of GTA. It's violence for the sake of violence. I'll be fine with violence for the sake of story, but just random violence like that has no appeal to me...and I'm not a big fan of the sandbox style. There's no plot, and unless the game is an MMO, little purpose.

But hey, to each his own, right?

My main gripe with R* is that I feel they hurt the industry more (by deliberately drawing up controversy and pulling critics down on it) than they help it (by providing content).

Praxis I agree with you on all points but disagree when you say it's a bad thing.

The first time I've seen video games on the news was when GTA3 was being launched, sure it was for violence but due to the attention that drew, then it was for being a very big seller, hence growing the market.

They hired Max Clifford (very famous PR stunt guy) and it was his idea to spin all this negative into positive and I think they did a good job of it.

Trust me it's not because of Rockstar that video games have bad reputation, it's been like that since forever.
