Ugh, what's with these American companies killing the old muscle car spirit with these generic crap looking cars? The GTO, Malibu, and Impala have gone down the drain. At least Dodge is doing well with the new Challenger, it looks somewhat like the original.

Ford did it with the GT and the Mustang, Dodge did it with the Challenger (but they RUINED the Charger) Chevy showed the Camaro but where is it?

You think so? it wouldn't have the emotional appeal in the US that the name has in australia though, i would have thought gto would have tugged at the heart strings more?

Yeah but its not a GTO anymore, i agree that Monaro would have been the better name.

ah yeh i guess so. Monaro's being sold in the us.... thatd be kinda cool ;)

The problem is that the GTO does have emotional apeal on a stylistic level. The Monaro on the other hand is more relaxed in its styling (IMO, it looks fantastic but people are stupid) when people are expecting 89 thousand scoops and crazy touches. It would have sold better had it been called anything other then GTO since everything else about that car was great (and even better when it got the 6.0 V8).
