Ok I was the official winner of 2007 so I remain champion! Let's see if anyone can beat my record of 65 games in one year. Well I haven't finished any games yet (Super Mario Galaxy is gonna take forever) plus I'm working again (full time) so I maybe be beaten this year.

I was tempted to start this last year, but I joined the forums late in the year and I couldn't remember all of the games I played. I see no harm in tossing my hat into the ring this year, so here goes.

1. Genji: Dawn of Samurai (PS2)
- Time taken: 6 hours, 10 minutes
- Score: 8.6

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (PS3)
Time took to complete: 7hours 28minutes (thank you in depth save stats)

It's a great game, does nothing new but does whatever it does great.
Nothing OMFG AMAZING GAME OF THE CENTURY!, it's just simply great.

7/10.

The Longest Journey (PC)

My favorite game of 2007 was Gears of War. That's the only game I have a 10 last year and no other game (even BioShock!) thrilled me with the next-gen WOW like that. That was my first true next-gen experience and nothing beats that feeling.

Anyways my first game for the year!

1. Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords (PSP) - Wow! I've never been so addicted to a puzzle game in my life! Vicious really did a good job with this. I also love the story as well.

Trust me I won't finish that many games this year since I have a job and I'm going to be traveling a lot. I'll be lucky if I finish 20 or 30.

All I can say is give me more but with more, it was way too short.

1. Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles (Wii)

Great game, lot of fun if you like light gun games and RE. Has a lot of collecting to do if you want to 100% it. Quite a challenge aswell.

2. Ghost Squad (Wii)

Fun game, while there are only 3 missions as you gain exp and level up you unlock different paths to take during the missions. I like light gun games and I enjoy it a lot. Also the ability to level up your character and unlock a ton of different weapons and costumes.

3. Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation (360)

Great game, tons of fun. My first ace combat game to ever play other then a demo for 5. A really good game, I highly recommend.

1) Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (PS3)

The best PS3 game I've played so far (not taking Super Stardust HD into account). Maybe not incredibly amazing overall, but it had excellent moments. The sharpest graphics ever and some of the best animations I've ever seen alone make it memorable.

8/10

2) Shadow of the Colossus (PS2, upscaled on PS3)

Not the first time I finish it, but a truly great experience once again. Now I'm playing it in hard mode, which makes it a different game as the colossus have more weak spots and behave differently.

4. Bullet Witch (360)

Had potential to be good, but it isn't. Only 6 levels and they are all really repetitious. I got it for 8$ so it was worth it, but I wouldn't spend any more then that on it.

1) Mass Effect (360)

Terrific game, but I don't feel compelled to play through a second time, even though I know that's popular. I know there's huge play differences between each class, and you can be either male or female with different interaction outcomes, and you can either be a saint or a douche, but I just don't see me going through it again. The only thing is that I finished at level 49, one shy of an extra achievement. I started a new career with my old character so I could try for that extra level, but at the end of Eden Prime I was still a couple thousand EXP shy of level 50, at which point I got to the citadel and quit for the day. A handful of enemies should do the trick, whenever I can get to more.

I'm sure I'll do the same this year as I did last year, but what the hell:

1) Frequency (PS2)

I've been buying back some old PS2 games recently (seeing as I lost all of mine in a fire), and this was the first on my list. I actually never completed this one when I originally had it. I had also forgotten how much of a bitch the expert tracks where, especially the D&B tracks.

2) Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction (PS3)

I've been a huge fan of Ratchet & Clank since the series began on the PS2, so it was inevitable that I'd get this one. They may not be the hardest games to get through, but they're certainly a great deal of fun to play.

The next game on my list will be ICO on the PS2. Yet another game I re-bought myself recently.

2) Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (360)

I only played the singleplayer game, as I'm not into multiplayer, but I loved every moment of it. It was the first in the series that I had any interest in at all, since I dislike the idea of playing any game involving World War II, and I'd like to see more CoD games set in modern times.

The Simpsons Game
Time took to complete: 6hours 38minutes 11seconds and 19miniseconds

Amazing amazing amazing.
Pure fun and enjoyable ride throughout with JUST the right amount of difficulty.

Characters are well realised and the game has a surprisingly vast amount of variety.

Is it funny?
Except for few places where it really feels uninspired script wise, the parodies are all masterfully done Simpsons style (and there is LOTS of parodies) and I actually got a few "haha" moments out of the game while the rest was "lulz" worthy and tiny tiny bit of it was "ehh....bad joke".

If you like The Simpsons and videogames, this is the perfect mix you've been waiting for.

The extras (lots of them, story completed and it says I'm only 64%) are there too but since it's a rent I won't bother.

Fanboy rating: 8/10.
Game rating 6/10.

Struggling to get though Half Life 2 in the Orange Box. I just find the whole scenario and environment mildly depressing, isolated, cramped and dare I say it... Boring? Completion is imminent though and then I'm on to Episode 1 and 2... If I can honestly be bothered.

Perhaps it's because I'm just off the high that is CoD4. Fucking amazing single player campaign. Had me gripped by the Bo locks from start to finish.

3) Burnout Paradise (360)

As a long-time fan of the series, this is quite possibly my favorite Burnout thus far. There's just so much game here, it's bordering on too much Burnout. I don't even do multiplayer at all and I've already put about 40 hours into it, and I'm only at 84% completion (though I "beat" it as is generally considered when earning the Burnout License). I still intend to continue reaching for 100%, so my play time will continue to rise.

A few of my current statistics:
play time (all singleplayer): 40:15:56
completion: 84%
distance driven: 2,447.1 miles
biggest Road Rage: 105 Takedowns
total Takedowns: 1,044
longest drift: 4.5 miles
longest Burnout chain: 52

EDIT:
I haven't technically finished Burnout Paradise, but I got my A license and the credits screen came up. So does that count?

Class A license shouldn't have brought up the credits. Are you sure you didn't win the Burnout license? If you got the Burnout license, it seems to be the general consensus of the gaming community that winning the Burnout license is "beating" the game.

1) Call of Duty 4 (360)
game completed on the "normal/whatever the hell they call it" difficulty

Call of Duty 4 was a game that I pretty much avoided at first. I heard a number of people claim how the game was insanely awesome and yadda yadda yadda, but I never was a fan of Call of Duty games. I also wasn't interested in purchasing a new game. Thanks to one of my friends, though, he peer-pressured me into buying it. Alas, I like to think it was the $40 price tag that convinced me.
I played multiplayer first and I was astonished by how it all worked. The experience system was pretty sweet. I liked the idea of gaining experience for kills and doing other various things. Also, unlocking new weaponry, skins, and perks made the multiplayer much more engaging and enjoyable. Multiplayer was pretty fun, and still is pretty fun.
The single player experience isn't bad either. I kind of just breezed through the story to get a bulk of the achievements, but I still enjoyed it. I've played through about half of the levels on Veteran thus far and HOT DAMN! It's friggin' insane! I'm still going to work on trying to beat the game on Veteran, but I'm pacing myself with it.
I usually stray away from first person shooters, but this game has my attention.

Score: 9

2) Undertow (360)
game completed on Ultra difficulty

There isn't really much I can say about this game. I don't think it was very good, but I also got it for free. So for saving myself $10, I can't complain too much. The game was pretty short and the story makes little to no sense. It does have 4 player co-op, though, so that's good. I just wish the developers made a better decision on the visuals. You're guy is insanely tiny on the screen (even if you zoom up all the way) and you're characters are blue. And you're in greenish-blue waters. Your enemies are always orange. You can see your foes, but not yourself. That bugs me.
All in all, it's part Bioshock, part Geometry Wars, and part boring.

Score: 5

3) Mass Effect(360)
game completed on all difficulties

FINALLY!

I was really looking forward to Mass Effect. It was one of the games that convinced me to buy a 360. I bought the game about a month after it's launch and played it to hell and back again. It was a hell of a good time...until I decided to keep playing through the game on the various difficulty settings. The spark this game had suddenly died out, but I kept playing. I just beat the game on "Insanity" last night. The game wasn't very hard...just tedious. I have, by this point, beaten the game a whopping six times.
Despite how cumbersome the game feels now, the game is still pretty good. The game sure looks good and I really the fact that I got to play an RPG on the 360 (it's lacking on them). I enjoyed the storyline and enjoyed having conversations with the other characters in the game. The combat was interesting, but it's not my favorite.
I don't know, I enjoyed what the game brought to the table and BioWare really tried to take on something huge. I think they accomplished most of what they wanted to. A few things irk me about the game, though. It doesn't take a while for the graphics to load up properly. I think there are still a few movies in the game I have yet to see as I'm supposed to. Also, I can't skip the movies. Having played through the game six times, I would really like to skip the movies.
Also, a majority of the side quests involve the Mako, which I hate. I hate driving. I also hate driving on these barren planets. It's like only a few planets in the entire galaxy have civilized lifeforms on them. Not only does the driving suck, you also pretty much always have to drive up and over mountains. The Mako is pretty much made of aluminum foil and cardboard, so it doesn't exactly make for the best vehicle.
There are plenty of little quirks in the game that bug me, but the game is still pretty good.

4) Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (360)
Game completed with just Sonic. Super Sonic unlocked

For being the first time I ever beat one of the original Sonic games (blasphemy, I know), it felt kind of....odd. I always hated the fact that I couldn't save my progress in the Genesis versions. It frustrated me, since I would get to a certain level and always die. I would have to start completely over and blah blah blah. Well, thanks to the save feature, I got to sit down and enjoy the game.
The game was pretty fun. I also got a nice feeling of nostalgia while going through all of the levels again. When I originally played this game, I always got stuck on the Oil level or the Metropolis one. Getting past that was sweet. Also unlocking Super Sonic for the first time was cool, but probably not nearly as frustrating as it was way back when (hurray for being able to save when I want to!)
The last two bosses were kind of difficult, but it was all good. All-in-all, the game was fun. The multiplayer kind of blows, but I think the game has aged fairly well. I have to try jumping back into this game at some point and do a speed run (achievement).

Class A license shouldn't have brought up the credits. Are you sure you didn't win the Burnout license?

I was probably thinking of the Burnout license.

Anyways, time to update my list.

3) ICO (PS2) - It's ICO, I don't need to say anything really.

Time taken: Like 3 months :P I've been doing a lot of other things, like playing the games below.

4) Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (DS) - Borrowed this one off of my housemate a few weeks ago, ended up playing it pretty non-stop until I completed it. :-D

Time taken:  Can't remember.

5) Burnout Paradise (PS3) - Had a week off of work, basically when I wasn't sleeping, I was playing this. Kicked arse on single-player mode, now it's time to do the same online :-D

Time taken: Well the timer on the game now says 52 hours, I think I got my Elite License around 40 hours.

6) Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (PS3) - Finally managed to get a copy of this game, through getting a little bonus for doing a week's work in London. One of the few must-have games on the PS3. Go buy, NOW!

Time taken: Played through on Hard to start with, took me about 8 and a half hours. Gonna start on Crushing very soon.

7) Call of Duty 4 (PS3) - Another one of those games that I've wanted to get for ages, but haven't been able to afford it. This one came along with Uncharted. I was really disappointed by the length of the single-player mode, but then, I mainly wanted it for online play, so I guess it doesn't bother me as much as it could've.

Time taken: Hardly any time at all, even for FPS standards. 4, maybe 5 hours. Hopefully the harder difficulties will provide more of a challenge.

1) Call of Duty 4 (360)
2) Undertow (360, Arcade)
3) Mass Effect (360)
4) Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (360, Arcade)

5)BioShock (360)
Game completed on Medium, almost everything unlocked.

I kind of came to the BioShock party late, but at least I got around to buying it. I was told I would've been better off renting the game, and I partially agree with that claim. The game is pretty short if you ask me. The game kind of abruptly ended which really sucked since I was so engaged with the game the entire time I was playing it.
For that short amount of time I was playing it, I was having a blast. Actually, it took me a little bit to get warmed up to it. My first playthrough was an absolute failure considering I kept getting murdered by Big Daddies and I was always running out of items. After restarting, things just kind of "clicked" and everything was going fine.
I enjoyed the concept and the creative direction the story had. The underwater utopia where only the great would exist, where the restrictions most people would have to endure wouldn't exist...and to watch that paradise get destroyed. It was pretty crazy. It had that nice mix of 1940s looks, 1950s advertising, and good ol' fashioned sci-fi. The story itself was good, albeit odd. The story kind of went to crap when it ended, but I am pretty much dissatisfied with almost every ending to a game.
The controls were pretty smooth. One thing that bugged me, however, was cycling through your plasmids and weapons. The selection circle was clunky and you couldn't cycle "backwards." I ended up pressing RB a lot more than I should've. The guns have their own unique functions and are pretty fun to play around with, since they have three different ammo types each. Each are also upgradeable, making them that much better.
The plasmids are the most interesting weapons in your arsenal, though. They offer a nice interaction with your environment, making that a weapon as well. Pools of water are deathtraps when you have electricity shooting out your hand. Oil slicks are traps for your fire plasmid. You can grab almost anything once you have Telekinesis (including anyone's dead body). Tossing dead people at living people is pretty fun.
Now, for the annoyances with the game...I really don't understand why people went goo-goo ga-ga over the "morality" system. Sure, it was a nice touch, but it wasn't anything brand new. Plenty of other games have done it before. Hacking also got insanely boring. It was nice to be able to instant-hack after a while (research), but not everything could be hacked with a press of a button. I have to keep going through some boring mini-game.
Anyway, BioShock is a pretty solid game and I would recommend playing it if you haven't already. It's a pretty engaging single-player experience, offering plenty of things to do. However, the game is a bit on the short side. It's possible to accomplish almost everything that needs to be accomplished in one playthrough, making it's replayability drop considerably.
Score: 9.5

Best: BioShock (9.5)

Worst: Undertow (5)

I take that as an insult...what makes you think I don't have a life? Im 18 and I have a part time job trying to save up for a 6 month vacation to England...what else am I going to do? If I was 40, living with my mom, NOT working then yeah you'd be right. Games are my life dude...I've been playing them since I was 2 and not many great things have happened in my childhood (thanks to my shitty parents) and I eat, sleep, and breathe games...hell I've even made a few (simple ones), but yeah I can see your point it does look like all I have time for is games.

4. Bullet Witch (360)
Had potential to be good, but it isn't. Only 6 levels and they are all really repetitious. I got it for 8$ so it was worth it, but I wouldn't spend any more then that on it.

5. Half Life 2: Episode Two
Great game, can't wait for episode three.

6. Undertow
It is an ok game, though the AI is really shitty, for free its worth getting.

7. Half Life 2
I haven't played it on PC yet and I got it with the Orange Box and after playing episode 2 I thought I should go back and play it. Lot of fun.

Quick update, forgot to list some after beating them

8. Devil May Cry 4 (360)

9. Army of Two (360)

10. Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (xbla)

11. God of War: Chains of Olympus (PSP)
Great game, but short.

12. Contra 4 (DS)
Hard as fuck, but fun.
13. Guitar Hero 3 (360)
Meh, I didn’t like it as much as guitar hero 2. boss battles are annoying.

14. Beautiful Katamari (360)
Fun, very hard to get high scores.

15. Trauma Center New Blood (wii)
Beat this with lucent on co-op, really fun game. Seems like it would be very very hard on single player.

16. King Kong (360)
It was actually not bad, not great but something to pass the time, and easy achievements.

Time took to complete:...

This is the FIFTH! time I've completed this game!
Not one, not two, not three, not four but FIVE times!
This is the first game EVER that I have completed this much, nothing even comes close (i never re-play games I've completed).

First time on my copy though (and first time in 2008) others were relative/ friend's copies that we stayed up all night and completed on co-op (since there wasn't much else to do when PS3 first launched).

I just never get sick of this game.
Nice pace, nice variety, excellent weapons, very fluid controls, everything just makes sense.
Perfect design- Nothing frustrating or "out of place" so when I'm in the mood, nothing stops me from playing.

Total games Completed: 4 (may I note, all PS3 games......nice)

1) Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare- 9.6 out of 10 (Xbox 360)- Completed on hardened difficulty in about 9 hours. One of the most intense games ever, but sometimes the difficulty is too high. Great mission variety, graphics and sound. But it's the multiplayer that I'll keep coming back for.

2) Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2- 9.2 out of 10 (Xbox 360)- Completed on medium difficulty in about 8 hours. This game is so good I may have to pick up the first one to replay it. I love how easy commanding your teams is but that there is so much depth to it as well. The game is very intense and looks great, and has gotten a lot of support from Ubi in the way of extra DLC. My only complaint is that the great cover system can't be used in any online mode.

3) Lost Planet: Extreme Condition-8.0 out of 10 (Xbox 360)- Completed on medium difficulty in about 8 hours. This is a fun shooter that you don't need to over-think. It's a nice break and gives a lot of variety in the weapons (both guns and VSuits) and enemies. The last fight is especially fun, and the story wasn't quite as bad as I expected after all the reviews, though still cheesy. The game has great effects and I wouldn't mind a sequel sometime down the line.

5) Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas-9.2 out of 10 (Xbox 360)- Completed on the normal difficulty in about 9 hours. I've been a sucker for Rainbow Six games since the original and playing this was inevitable. Although I miss the unforgiving style of the original, I think the more fast-paced command and go gameplay is better suited for the console, and now that I've warmed up to the cover system, I dislike playing any game without it. As always, fun multiplayer, but I am expecting Vegas 2 to have far more in the way of Ubi support with maps, modes, and missions in the future since it is the end of this particular story.

6) Guitar Hero II-9.4 out of 10 (PS2)- Completed expert in about 3 and a half hours. I know I used this game last year as well, but when I went back for a song or 2 to play, I found that, for the millionth time, the save became corrupt, and since I was stuck on the last section in expert, I decided to fire through the game and surprisingly, I didn't fail a song and made some of my highest scores. What more can be said about GH2 that hasn't been said in terms of gameplay? Nothing.

7) Guitar Hero III-9.1 out of 10 (Wii)- Completed all of hard (including almost every bonus song) and all but 2 songs in expert (which feel like they may never be beat) in a rough total of probably 15 hours, as some songs are just hard and took many, many tries and many days of practicing and enjoying other songs. I actually got pissed that I was stuck in expert and went back to complete the game on hard just to get some random unlockables and more songs. Some of the best songs in the series so far and my favorites seemed to be in the bonuses. Since I am pretty inexperienced with Rock Band, I still love the GH series, and this is no different.

6) Carcassonne (360, Arcade)

Another free game from Xbox Live. It's okay; definitely not worth 800 MS points.

7) Double Dragon (360, Arcade)

This game posed a challenge, but was far too short for my liking. Streets of Rage 2 is a better beat 'em up for the same price.

Also, I managed to snag all the achievements for Undertow (boring), Mass Effect (finally), and BioShock (fun) in the meantime.

4) Project Gotham Racing 3 (360)

Went ahead and added this and changed PGR4 to number five. (Just because I'm numbering them in the order I played them.)

5) Project Gotham Racing 4 (360)

I liked this a lot, especially coming straight off of PGR3 shortly before picking up 4. All the old locations from 3 return plus additional locations of Saint Petersburg, Shanghai, Macau (my personal new favorite), and Michelin test tracks. This time around they've added bikes, which behave totally differently from the cars and which enable us to do stunts, and they've added weather conditions, which I personally liked seeing this time around.

EDIT:
You know what, I'm gonna plug PGR3 up there before PGR4. At first I wasn't going to because there was more I could do, mainly working up to Rank 1, but looking back I did at least win every single championship, so....

God Of War 2 [PS2]
Time took to complete: I'll check later. A bit under 9 hours I think.

Meh.
Pretty underwhelming stuff if you compare it to God Of War 1 and you should since this is a direct sequel and all.

The ending SUCKED.
No I mean the ending was good story wise but as gameplay it was the worse ending in the history of PS2 games! ¬_¬
Easiest/shittiest ending boss EVER!
Seriously I was even a bit pissed off at how shit the end boss was.

To be perfectly honest I didn't enjoy 80% of the game, only the 20% gave me the epic feel of God Of War 1.

What was wrong with this one?
It lacked attention and care I think, they just threw enemies at you hoping it will be like God Of War 1, there weren't many set pieces and awesome bosses like God Of War 1.

I mean the first level in God Of War 1 where you killed a huge three headed monster and then went in his mouth to get a key from someone the monster has eaten and then had to push boxes whilst being arrowed quickly to reach and climb the nets was more exhilarating than fighting a huge statue come to life in God Of War II's beginning due to how easy and uncreative the design was.

I'll give it 7/10 which is good but not when I was expecting a 9/10 game from it :(

The good news is, my expectations are considerably lowered now for PS3's GodOfWar3 so I shall enjoy it more.
Especially as I'm sure the graphics will look like sex itself.

it would probably be easier if you just watched the fight on youtube instead of trying to get someone to explain it to you.

if you don't want the end of the fight spoiled then stop the video once you've got everything you need.

Call Of Duty 4: Modern Combat
Time took to complete:...........?

Excellent game, one annoying thing is the game keeps throwing enemies at you and you try to defend and exhaust their back up but they keep coming so you try to advance but when you do that BOM you are dead but you can't sit still, defend and attack at the same time so you just have to kill enough, get lucky so they don't come while you are running and get to the next 'chapter' of the map.

That was quite frustrating and took a lot of immersion out of it but other than that, 8/10.
Oh and the online mode is superb.

Rainbow Six: Las Vegas 2
I am playing a lot of shooters lately :(
Not my style but I have no choice it seems with current gen being 99% shooters.

This was pretty average, nothing annoying, nothing outstanding.
There are some neat touches like repelling down to a window, then smashing in after flashgin them etc. and they do feel good everytime you do it.

I'll give this 5/10.

Man it's like, if I don't play anything, I feel like kicking the PS3 out the window and when I DO play something, it has to be something shitty/ mediocre because that's mostly it right now lol

It's a horrible dilemma.

Ya... current wave of games is so lame... I haven't felt any real urge or sense of actual genuine, complete and long lasting satisfaction from a game since Resistance.

It'll get better for me and masteratt when PS3 games actually start coming out. Which basically starts April 29th.

Beat Condemned 2 last week. Was a really good game. Not as scary as the first one though. I enjoyed the multiplayer actually. Its weird though, i was playing it the other night, then yesterday I started the game up and it was like I've never played the game before. My save file was gone completely. It had no records of my kills or previous achievements at all.

Well this post (http://forums.e-mpire.com/showpost.php?p=1839645&postcount=793) does more than enough of a job to show how much I love this game.
It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea but I have a....fetish for point and click detective/ adventure/ puzzle whatever etc games so I loved it.

Few downers came up nearing the end though including one illogical puzzle that was fucking impossible to figure out and I just HAD TO look at the walkthrough :(
I hate doing that but seriously, the puzzle made no fucking sense and even after I knew what to do I was like "oh c'mon, what the fuck!"

And it felt rushed, all the pieces started falling together a bit way too fast and in bit of a odd way near the end.
It still made sense but it wasn't as interesting as the beginning/ middle of the game.

I'll give this game a nice 8/10.

After previously renting it, I bought it new for $35 at Game Crazy, and I'm happy to add it to my collection. I think the game didn't hold the creepiness, tension, and paranoia that the Criminal Origins did, but it was still great and I particularly enjoyed the improvement in the forensics department. I enjoyed sifting through clues at crime scenes, determining which were relevant and which are just there to throw me off, and interpreting the clues.

Game completed, all achievements unlocked.

Holy cripe. This game felt like a chore to complete...mostly because it WAS a chore to complete. I originally started playing this game shortly after it came out and my opinion of it was pretty low. There were a lot of technical things that really bugged the piss out of me. Then there were just a lot of other thing that weren't so technical that bothered me. It also didn't help that I was playing the game after getting only 2 hours worth of sleep.
Fast-forward to about a week and a half ago. I start the game over and play through it all. My opinion about it hasn't changed too much. I give the developer's some credit for trying to do something new with the gameplay mechanics, but it all became too stale too quickly.
I'll try preventing myself from going on another long rant about this game, so I'll just say I didn't enjoy how the game tried making itself "realistic" because there are so many things that shatter that veil. I never really felt like I was playing as an assassin. Ever. The game looks fairly decent, though. Although certain areas of each city kind of blur together...it kind of makes sense. There wasn't a whole lot of variety in the architecture back in 1191.
I do enjoy the story, though, and I'm hoping the second Assassin's Creed doesn't feel so much like overhyped nonsense.

8) Viking: Battle for Asgard (360)
I just finished this one up a few hours ago. There's a few Achievements I'd like to have gotten, but that would require a second play-through on the harder difficulty but GTAIV will be here soon so I'm moving on.

My one disappointment with the game: I never actually got to see Fenrir in the game, despite it being suggested that Fenrir wanted to speak to me late into the game. I just see his eye in one of the game's "visions" your character occasionally has. It's not really a strike against the game or anything. I'm just commenting on it, since I was looking forward to seeing him. (I like wolves.)

Hopefully I'll be finishing up The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass between now and GTAIV. I played perhaps half-way through it a while back but got side-tracked and would like to finish it up, but when GTAIV gets here, it gets pushed to the side whether it's done or not.

What a wonderful ending.
I really can't say anything really unless I wrap the whole post in spoiler tags but that's pointless as people who finish it know it, people who didn't finish it, should.

So therefore, I'm just going to say I was very pleased though I felt for some reason it could have been longer and more....vast.
I just can't get the idea the game was held back due to DVD out of my head unfortunately but that aside, everything was excellent.

Definite 10/10 on the enjoyment meter and it's a technical achievement beyond many developers can dream.

8) Gears of War-9.0 out of 10 (Xbox 360)- Completed casual in about 6 hours, begun on hardcore level. This game is great, and I love the pace. In fact, it's another reason I love short games although for the length I'm a tad disappointed that it took a good hour to really pick up the pace. The game gets better as you go along and then before letting it grind to a halt, they end it with a fun battle. The only thing I hope for in the sequel is more variety in enemies and maybe weapons as well. Everything else about this game is killer.

9) Grand Theft Auto IV-9.9 out of 10 (Xbox 360)- Completed in 35 hours. I will go back through for some achievements and to see some other "parts" of the game. Let me start by saying I didn't like past GTAs and figured there is no way this could live up to all the hype and great reviews. But seriously, this is the first game in ages that's over 15 hours long where I've felt the urge to plow through it because it's just so good. The mission variety is top notch as is everything else (graphics, gameplay, controls, detail, sound, voice acting and writing), and I felt truly connected with the most characters to the point that I couldn't find it in me to pull the trigger on certain ones. I can't disagree with IGN calling this the best game since Ocarina of Time, and I can only hope future games strive for such high production values. I'd give it a 10 if it weren't for a few annoying bugs that caused almost 20 random freezes during normal activity (like driving). If you have a 360 or PS3 and haven't bought it yet, do it.

9) Rock Band (360)
Solo careers completed: Guitar (Expert), Vocals (Medium), Drums (Easy), Entered Hall of Fame and completed Endless Setlist in Band World Tour.

Kind of hard to say I actually "beat" the game considering the game doesn't really have an end. Based off actual in-game stuff, I still have solo careers to beat on Expert and I have to become "big" in every city I'm allowed to play in. There's still plenty to do and still plenty of songs to play, but yeah...I originally wasn't going to buy the game until the instruments were available seperately, but I gave in. I just wanted the drums, but I actually don't play the drums that often. (Pain in the ass to play, far too noisy for an apartment). Vocals turned out to be surprisingly more fun than I expected. I actually got better at playing fake-guitar too. Woo!
The game is pretty fun and the more people around, the better. The game doesn't seem to do much of anything wrong except for come out with some really stupid DLC for weeks at a time. It's probably the only game I've put enough money in that I could've bought another console with it. Crazy.

Grand Theft Auto IV - It's Better is Better Than Your Better (reference to recent Nike Adverts, look it up)

It meets the hype I believe. A solid and deserved 4 out of 5 stars. Definitely a marquee videogame to stand tall above the competition. It does what it does best, and does what others do better... shooting... crashing... explosions... atmosphere... artistically... musically... cinematography... and so on

Even with all of Grand Theft Auto IV's awesomeness, there are a few things which prevent the game from getting an even better rating from me. I'll only mention the two most bothersome though... which both seem in hindsight impossibly easy to avoid...

1 - I'm sure other people realized this... the 'Why do I have a million dollars?' issue and consequently 'Why am I still here?'

I'm sure I am not the only one who looked forward to struggling within tight bounds of a world to scrape for money with Grand Theft Auto IV. It would of course make sense since Niko is continually mentioning that he needs money... why not make it the case for the player as well?

2 - Why with the advent of having a damn hard drive... do cars in Grand Theft Auto IV disappear so quickly while on the road? If I've interacted with a vehicle through crashing or piloting one, it really shouldn't disappear so quickly. I mean... I haven't suddenly forgotten about it after five seconds. I'm not a damn goldfish.

Does that honestly make sense? Why can the 'garage' outside apartments only handle two vehicles maximum? That is completely lame. Two vehicles? You run and save the game on my hard drive Rockstar!

Time Taken: 10 hours on Normal

24.Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil (Xbox) - Not as good as Doom 3, but it focused a lot on the action. You never were resting. Pretty creepy as well. I just wish people were playing online.

Time Taken: 6 hours on Normal
Score: 7.5/10

25.Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War (PC) - Well, this is the only Dawn of War game I'll play because my PC won't run the expansions. Anyways, this is probably the most fun I've ever had with an RTS (besides Age of Empires II. NOTHING beats that game). I had a friend trying to get me into the Warhammer board game YEARS ago but I didn't wanna spend $20 for every little soldier, and them paint them, and then read the 300 page rule book...this is a lot easier.

Time Taken: 12 hours on Normal
Score: 8.5/10

26.The World Ends With You (DS) - I have FINALLY started playing my DS again thanks to Ninja Gaiden and this (those kiddy games piss me off there's too many of them!! Just like there's too many kids in this world). This is ANOTHER Squenix masterpiece thanks to Tetsuya Nomura. Kingdom Hearts fans rejoice. I just hate the dual screen combat...DOESN'T WORK!!

Time Taken: 23 hours on Normal/Easy
Score: 8.5/10

27.Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness-Episode 1 (PC) - Jesus that's the longest game title ever!! Anyways this is a damn good game...it's hilarious and you don't even have to be into Penny Arcade (such as myself) to enjoy this. NOT worth $20 though...maybe $15. I just love how great and easy the combat is though.

Time Taken: 6 hours
Score: 8.0/10

28.Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword (DS) - Just in time for NG2!!! This game was great except it was as short as hell and felt too much like the Xbox NG.

Time Taken: 5 1/2 hours on Normal
Score: 8.5/10

29.Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (PC) - Well after trying to start this game like 5 times I finally beat it. The game is as long as fuck, but it's still a super fun game. For people who don't know Warcraft used to be an RTS not a money sucking MMO full of cheaters and people who thing they are 70 pwnrs. Still not as fun as Age of Empires II.
