This is probably my favorite movie of the year by a longshot. It is well written, well directed, and has great acting (Page). I love a good movie like this that isn't from the cookie cutter side of Hollywood. It remind me of the kind of feeling I got the first time I saw Garden State. Both movies are easily up there on my list of all-time favorite movies because of the points mentioned earlier.

I know a couple of you have seen this film from posts in other threads, but what about anyone else? You think it has a shot at some Oscars? It's more than deserving of a couple IMO...

Oh yes it is definitely deserving of a few Oscars. Maybe best Actress? I haven't seen another performance this year that was as good as hers. I believe that is something we can come to expect from Ellen Page. I saw her in Hard Candy the other day, and the way she transformed into that role was both eerie and fantastic at the same time. I loved this movie and every time I have left the theater after watching it I have just wanted to go back and watch it again.

I haven't seen Hard Candy but my sister said she was fantastic in it. I need to check it out. And I've seen Juno twice, but will probably see it one more time before I go back down to school.

Ya, I adored her character in this movie simply because of her acting. She was fantastic.

I actually did not like it. While it's certainly unique and well-acted, I disliked the plot, the humor ranged from lame to awesome yet short-lived, and the pseudo-romance bugged me. Some of the drama stuff was pretty good, and there were some great moments (the ultrasound scene comes to mind), but as a whole I really did not enjoy the movie.

The music in the movie bothered me. I found it really annoying.

Also, I disliked Juno's personality through her sense of humor / sarcastic remarks. Those kind of people bug me when I encounter them in real life.

That said, I think it was a great movie and I cried at the end.

The music in the movie bothered me. I found it really annoying.Ugh, me too, but I try not to judge based off of it unless it's a movie where it's a big part of it.

NOTHING FARKING RHYMED! And when it did, it was the same word.

Phoenix, about soundtrack:

I thought the little song at the end they sang to each other was cute. But other than that, it really made me want to die. Like it was trying too hard or something.

I didn't think it was a stellar soundtrack, but there were a couple of songs that I really loved

Come on! The song by Buddy Holly was great!

Other than that, the songs sounded like adults trying to write like three year olds.

I loved this film and I loved Juno's character. I'm definitely buying this on DVD.

I think some of the dialogue came off as witty, and some of it came off as forced. I dont like thinking that someone couldnt think of this comment or that remark off the top of their head when i hear a one-liner.

OTHERWISE, i thought the film was awesome.

I saw it the other day, and thought it was great. Loved that Michael Cera's role was fairly small (I don't really like him outside of Arrested Development). Unlike most of you, I enjoyed the soundtrack tremendously. My girlfriend hated the soundtrack though.

I liked some of the Kimya Dawson songs and "All the Young Dudes"

Fillibuster

My sister downloaded the soundtrack and I'm getting more and more into it. Still a couple goofy songs, but I like that it is a fairly original sound throughout.

Jonny Royal

Yeah man, it is definitely a great soundtrack now that I keep listening to it. There is something about Kimya's voice that is so awesome

Travis

The soundtrack was good. 'All the Young Dudes,' Belle & Sebastian, and The Kinks, I'm not complaining. Although there were some shitty songs.

But all in all it was probably the most pretentious movie I've ever seen. It was so faux-indie that it made me want to vomit at times. Had some forced dialogue. BUT - the acting was great and there were more good parts than bad, so I liked it quite a bit. I laughed a lot, too.

YES! I instantly equated it to Garden State because of my love for that film. Neither are cookie cutter Hollywood productions, they are just gems of writing, directing, and acting!

I didn't really care for it. I really didn't like Juno's character it really annoyed me. I would not be enthused about seeing it again.

Yeah I can see how the character Juno is a hit and miss but I thought this was one of the better films of recent years (recent years meaning a few weeks since my memory sucks) and the fact that it's a love or hate film means the love is strong if you do like it.

The characters were under-developed a bit in the film (especially the adopting couple, granted they were side characters but they aren't really when for 30mins the whole film becomes about them) but other than that the script was near perfection.

I don't care for awards but yeah if anyone is getting anything, this film should at least get the best screenplay.

I might be a little late to the party, but man, what a great movie!!!

reading the comments, I see why some people would think Juno is annoying. But, this is definitely one of the best films I've ever seen.

First off, I'm black--and I grew up something close to being 100% opposite of where this story takes place. So, it's not that I can relate to her personality or setting or anything.

The reason, this film is so great, is because it's just an ordinary story, with ordinary people, well acted.. People come up with stupid words all the time and differentiate themselves from peers around them. I know I have, and in the film it felt very natural, even if it was weird.

At the end of the movie, you just want to watch it over again. There isn't anything that makes you feel really really sad, or really really happy. It's just a "feel good" movie, reminding you, that ordinary life, is just as funny/exciting/cool as the crap that Hollywood spits out every year.

Yeah, it's one of those movies I put up there with As good as it gets and Somethings gotta give.

It felt like recently every time someone mentioned Juno there was an argument and an attack of negativity towards it but now you reminded me that more people DO indeed enjoy simply watching good films.

Hooray! I bought this on blu-ray on Tuesday the day it came out, and I've watched it about 5 times since then. Of course, I am clearly in love with this movie and had acquired it a couple days after I saw it in theatres, but I had to go out and buy it in hi-def.

I'm glad you liked it Omni, all my friends down here do, but I have heard just as many people bitch about it. I think you nailed it when you said it is an ordinary story with ordinary people. And in this film, those ordinary people are acted so perfectly that it just feels right watching it.

Juno making out with a mirror would be the hottest fucking scene in the universe.

Juno, not Ellen Page because Ellen Page is 50% but as Juno she is 100% hot/cute/awesome

I agree with masteratt, what some people found to be annoying or "lesbionic" about Juno is what made me find her character attractive.

I loved this movie! Honestly I loved the soundtrack. It really went with the quirkyness of the movie. I actually went out and bought it after seeing the movie. I love this new fad of quirky movies that seems to be emerging. Movies like Juno, Garden State, Saved, I Heart Huckabees, etc. all totally rock my world. As for Ellen Page I think she it completely adorable.

Juno is catchy and hollow, as are the other "quirky" movies you mentioned.
As is a lot of music these days, it seems like lyrical aesthetic outweighs lyrical content.

This movie is hollow..

Juno goes super heavy on the college kid fodder, empty wit, while totally giving a big "fuck you" to the storyline. It relies too heavily on current culture and fads while lacking any real substance of its own.

If you want to indulge yourself in such things, be my guest! Juno's definitely your best ticket.

i think this is a good movie. Omni's post pretty much covered my feelings about it. Junos character was extremely sarcastic but at the end of the movie shows her real emotion. She was freakin awesome.

If you didn't like the movie then thats your opinion, is it really that serious to make a youtube video bashing it? :loser: and that chick in the second youtube video posted is more annoying than Juno can ever be...

seriously

If not, the movie is great either way.

Garden state is good of course.
Yay Scrubs, lol.

Saved, I have not seen yet, but my gf(again) said it was funny.
Even though she hates mandy moore(she;'s in there I think).

Haha, okay that was a funny script edit of the movie (the link).

From now on, if you are going to bitch about Juno (as many of you seem to make a living on doing), you have to be that creative and funny.
