I have this problem where if I play an online game too much, I kind of begin to suck. I don't know why. It primarily happens with FPS too.

When I first bought Halo 3, I was pwning left and right. I was always first or second in free for all matches. Now it is just hard for me to do well.

I got CoD 4 a few weeks ago... well after a lot of people bought it. After a few games, I was doing amazingly well for my level. Here I was... a level 6 with the 2nd most kills or whatever. Now I am a level 20, and I am struggling to do as well as I did in the past.

I think it is a mind game... I don't know though. Does anyone else have this problem?

Yeah, I recognize the problem. My skill in UT2k4 varies quite a lot. I figured, I played best when I'm really tired, guess I'm most relaxed then. ;) FPS is kinda strange, something very small can make you suck. And some other moments you do kills you never thought you could do.

Or you could be getting matched up with better players since your level is higher?

^That and people have just gotten better at the game faster then you have. Remember the game has been out for awhile, there are people that im sure know everything about it by now.

I'm just so streaky with online shooters. I've been doing surprisingly well on COD4, but still I have those days where it feels like I'm shooting fuckin blanks or something.

It only happens if i play too long in one sitting. Like say I play for 3 hours straight then I start to do badly and need to take a break.

Sometimes I just have an off day, but I tend to play better when Im in the mood for games. If I play just because im bored and theres nothing else to do then I dont really get into it and thus dont do as well.

Call of Duty puts you randomly with a group of people, I believe.

It does.
Newb/pros/newb/pros etc.

I do well most of the time, but sometimes... oh god... no kill at all.
Damn prestige mode!

It does unless your playing in a party.

this happens to me sometimes, but i think its mostly because i get impatient and try to do too much instead of just sitting back and letting people come to me

that why i dont ever play halo, because i like to rush all the time, but get killed all the time for doing it

is it you getting worse, or is it everyone else getting better, and everyone worse than you getting bored of losing and quitting?

No, I don't think it is that...I use to think so, but I bought Call of Duty 4 over a month after it came out. I was playing with high levels all the time, and still doing well the first week I had it.
