Oook i got a ps3 at christmas and the 'x' button on one of my controllers has already started to stick.. anyway to get rid of this by cleaning it or something... it's kind of annoying..
When does the Dual Shock 3 come out in europe anyway ?

Spring
Just import a DS3, it's totally worth it. Rumble (duh), better battery life, higher quality build, nicer feeling due to added weight, refined motion sensing (early adopters will notice), etc.

wash your hands after... or use a sock
I may end up just importing a Dual Shock 3. I was just speaking to 19 on PSN about the build quality on the Sixaxis. It just doesn't seem up to scratch.

something has came loose in my sixaxis you can hear it rattling around when you use the tilt control it's a pain in the ass but i dont care got a ds3 now
You guys should also look into getting trigger extensions peripherals that clip onto your controllers trigger buttons which make them more like the 360 controllers triggers ( in my personal opinion even better than the 360's triggers ). I know Cliffbo will appreciate that info cause he hates the PS3's triggers as much as me.
I do as well. I will wait for the DS3 to hit NA shores, I see no rush. MGS is the game I really want it for but Uncharted must have benefitted from it as well.

That happened to my DS2. A few too many drops and it had broken peices inside which kept getting stuck behind the R2 button.
As for my controllers I've had no problem with mine which i have had of 9 months and half a month.
Went to Raitei's house. Was playing games. He's sitting in one chair, and someones sitting in another chair on the opposite wall. My other friend asks for the controller, so raitei throws him my new DS3 which i was given for my birthday. He does a quick edit then throws it straight back. Raitei who is paying no attention to him, leans forward to pick something up off the table. The controller goes straight through the space where his head was less than half a second before and smacks into his wooden floor.
I laugh at the perfect way the situation played out. I stop laughing when I'm told whos controller it was.
It's still A ok - but I'm not really all that into dropping my controllers. When I was younger sure, but my controllers never take a hit these days.

My Square button sticks one time and then another time it works fine.
But seriously I feel like the thing is going to snap.
First poorly built Sony accessory I ever owned.
Shame.
But it still works at least.

Controllers should be no more than 30 bucks.
And I noticed on one of my controllers the square and X button are harder to press then my other controller. I have no clue why that is.

Same here, only in Euros...
For gods sake, a "first party" Sega 6 button controller cost 15 on day one (I got one day one for SF2 back in the day)... Yes, I know, inflation and all that... But games only got a wee bit more expensive (after getting cheaper in the meantime with the PS1 as a CD based system)... I remember paying 120DM for Wing Commander 3 (60)... And I NEVER EVER regret that... I still play this game once a year^^ (And possibly on my PS3, when DosBox gets up to speed on CELL) Same goes for WC4!
I find it harder on Nintys side with the 70 Remote plus Nunchuck... I know, you don't need both to play, but that still is a heck of a lot of cash.
But, since my FIRST PS2 PAD STILL WORKS, I am most likely only getting a DS3 in Spring, and the rest might end up as being cheap third party pads (with which I won't play^^)

I have this problem, too. it's the only problem I really have about the system. it'll freeze up/disconnect (the controller I mean) for about five seconds and then everything will be normal agan for about thirty minutes although sometimes on not too often occasions can this problem occur every 1 to 5 minutes after, depending how close the model was purchased to the launch date of the console.
but anyhow, because the controller would disconnect from the console for this short period, it can cause your character to have a mind of it's own. which can usually get you killed, depending on the danger you're in or your surroundings (running off a cliff, for instance).
other than rumble, this is the most important reason why I'm waiting for the DS3 to launch. :)

does anyone have the charging station??

Derrick Barra

Yeah I've got one of the older Nyko chargebases that houses 4 controllers (or my bluetooth headsets!), but I've read that the newer Nyko chargestation that only has 2 chargestations is easier to plug controllers in, but I haven't had any problems with the older model. Either way its definetly worth it for the convenience.

I think most people who've imported them on here used this (http://www.play-asia.com) site.

You think wrong: www.yesasia.com.
Play-Asia has a lot of export restrictions on gaming stuff.
OK, well I know it was something-Asia ;)
I just noticed the shipping restrictions on the other site, that sucks. They don't ship the DS3 to any countries in the EU!

They'll probably be more than that when they're released over here, the Sixaxis costs £35 at the moment. Also, that site provides free shipping.

Yep, that's the new plan.
Thanks cotton man!

it's a common problem in all bluetooth devices. to solve it, the signal strength must be increased, which is what the DS3 provides. i've read that those who used to have this problem do not experience this problem anymore since they imported the DS3 from Japan. I'm still waiting for it to launch over here, though.

Only some controllers from the very first PS3 launch systems suffer from these drop outs. I never had any issue with my sixaxis, and of course the same goes to my DS3.
If your sixaxis controller disconnects from time to time, you should be getting any new controller, be it a DS3 or another sixaxis (as long as it wasn't manufactured around or shortly after PS3's launch) and you'll also notice how the motion sensing is more refined.
I had that problem when I first got my PS3. It was a real pain, because my first game was Motorstorm. Every time it happened, it would be when I was heading for a corner, so I'd get destroyed by the time I got control back. It hasn't happened for a very long time though, so I dunno if they maybe fixed the problem in one of the firmware updates?

I don't think it's firmware related because the problem appears to be the same for me. the good news is one of my controllers does it far less than the other, which leads me to believe that the problem is in the controller and not the console. needless to say, importing DS3 seems to have corrected the problem for those i've spoken to.
I just assumed that it was the firmware, because it only ever happened to me for the first month or so.
I'm gonna be getting a DS3 anyway, seeing as the battery life is miles better, and if the motion sensing is better like VG said, then I'll be very happy.
Did you guys try turning off your other blue tooth devices in your home or do you live in area where there is alot of electronic transmissions going on cause that is the cause. Sony explained this when the PS3 launched so its not a firmware problem or a controller hardware problem. The PS3 controller changes its frequency constantly so if it catches another similar frequency thats when it shuts off and only comes back on when it has rotated to another blue tooth frequency. Sorry for the terrible explanation but i read this a like year ago somewhere.
Hmm, that's interesting. When I first got my PS3 I wasn't living where I am now, and that's the only time I remember having the problem.
Pretty much everybody on our street had wireless modems, would that have an affect? I know that's not bluetooth, but that's the only thing I can think of that could possibly cause a problem.
I cant remember exactly what the article said maybe CPI would know but im assuming plenty of signals not just Blue tooth can affect it especially wirless networks.

Oooo man i want a PS3 bad.
First, i need money (which wont be a huge problem)
Then, i need to wait for a killer bundle (hopefully with a couple of games and a DS3!)
Not a huge fan of 6axis, mainly due to it being too light. Guess if i had one i'd get used to it. I love the 360 controller the best for traditional gaming, followed by the wavebird and the good ol PS2 controller.

That's how bluetooth works. It switches frequency 1600(?) times/second to avoid interference, but with those kinds of odds, it's gonna hit an interfering frequency at some point.

Well, there are several WiFis where I am plus my Bluetooth mouse and I never had an issue.
Regarding the refined motion sensing, PAL launch adopters might not notice a difference at all but US and Japanese launch adopters do.

Blacks and Jews should be persecuted for the inherent flaw of bluetooth technology??? Well that hardly seems fair.
Well maybe the new dualshocks rotate to different frequencies less now in the new dualshocks causing less chance of interference.
