BOND 22 Filming in Austria

Little by little, more possible story details are coming out about the production of Bond 22 by way of production shoot schedules and small quotes from people associated with the project. Last week, star Daniel Craig had a very short quote to the press hinting at a higher organisation being the focus for the story which takes place just two minutes after the ending of Casino Royale.

This week, MI6 reports through a casting call for 1,500 extras that production will move from their London location, which began filming Jan 3, to Bregenz, Austria on April 29 and last through May 10. The link involves some possible spoiler story details about what is getting shot at that location.

Bond 22 will hit theaters November 7, 2008.

I REALLY liked "Casino Royale". It was a superb Bond movie. It was just what I wanted in a re-boot. Less BS, more real spy stuff. Less gadgets and crap, more muscle/wits/guns. Craig is the new Bond and I hope he is here for the long haul. He totally kicks ass as Bond.

Here's a little more for you to chew on, boyos.

The movie will also take place in Panama, Bolivia, Switzerland, and Italy, as well as England. Here are some of the players:

The Good:

-Judi Dench as "M" (Obviously)
-Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter: Nice to see some continuity for a change. Becomes only the second actor to play Felix twice (the other being David Hedison, but that took 16 years).
-Giancarlo Giannini as Mathis: No word yet on what role he will play, but he is said to be instrumental in Bond's hunt.
-Gemma Arterton as Agent Fields: Nothing known yet other than she is an MI6 operative.
-Olga Kurylenko as Camille: The Bond girl. Little is known about her character, but she will serve as a catalyst for Bond's wounded emotions.

The Bad:

Mathieu Amalric as Dominic Greene: In spite of rumors that he might be the new Blofeld, Amalric will play Greene, a major player in the organization that Mr. White works for.
Jesper Christensen as Mr. White: He'll be back, since the movie starts where Royale ends, but I wouldn't bet on him being around too long.
Anatole Taubman as unnamed villain: Nothing known yet, but it wouldn't be a stretch if he is Vesper's love or Greene. Coin-flip right now on that.
Joaquin Cosio as General Medrano: Corrupt Central American military leader, presumably in league with Greene.

The plot is still under wraps, but there have been rumors (that have been denied by writer Paul Haggis) that the plot will be loosely based on Risico, which involved drugs and smuggling. That would make sense, considering we have a Central American general (unfair, I know, but hey, there is truth to it). The plot will also be a vendetta-esque story for Bond, but it is unknown how far they'll go. Director Marc Forster (The Kite Runner) is shooting for a 2-hour running time for this film. I doubt that because they never make it to their planned running times, but a 2-hour movie with Craig at the helm and Haggis behind the writer's desk sounds good to me. Added to this, we have a wonderfully diverse cast and Amalric is sure to get an Oscar nod for his role in The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. He's also played a spy in Munich, which starred, oddly, former Bond villain Michael Lonsdale and our current Bond Daniel Craig. Eerie... the best spy movie in at least twenty-five years is starting to click with all these Bond connections.

Okay, old school Bond style then. Real spy don't use all those damn funky gadgets that past Bond movies had. Hell, all of those damn gadgets don't even exist. they are kool for say Batman, but Bond is supposed to exist in a realistic world. Real spy's are trained to use their muscles, wits, guns, and surroundings to to the job. Those loserly lame assed gadgets are why Connery left. He thought they were the lameness.

Yes, he did. No surprise he claimed From Russia with Love was his favorite (and my favorite of the series). Yeah, we had gadgets, but they were plausible. Goldfinger pushed the plausibility, but it worked for the story. By Thunderball, well, it just got absurd.

Well, recently he has been commenting on the reason he like the new Bond is the fact that is extremely minimal on the gadgets and all the extraneous crap.

Casino Royale was terrible.

Brosnan fan?

The opening chase scene was cool, and Craig is a good Bond and everything, but the plot was just so lame. Poker game, testicle-whip, and whatnot.

I see your point, you had issues with the plot line. I did not fancy the poker game to much either. I have never liked the various games that any of the Bonds/Movies engaged in. But then it is just something I glossed over. Lets hope the new movie has no plot slowing card games.

And also bear in mind this was reasonably faithful to the novel, all things considered. The first third isn't in the book, obviously, but many of the broad plot points from then on are the same and many characters from the book are also in the movie. As for the poker, I didn't mind. Partly because I like playing poker, but also because Craig and Mads Mikkelsen acted so well during those scenes. As for the torture, well, it was a lot nastier in the book.

I thought Casino Royale was fantastic, and I think Craig is probably the best Bond since Connery...I truly feel that way after one film. I having nothing but high expectations for 22 and I think it will deliver on all fronts.

New casting news...

3:10 to Yuma star Ben Foster is apparently up for a role in the new film, based on an article posted on mi6.co.uk. This is good news. I think he'll be an ally only because they've loaded the dice as it is with four villains. Bond could use a little help.

Peter Sellers ftw!

Craig is a damn good bond.
Although masteratt disagrees.

Casino Royale was sweet. The poker thing was cool. I bet no one here has played a more exciting game of cards.

While Im not a huge fan of Bond, this is definitely up there on my list of movies-to-see.

Turns out the Ben Foster thing was untrue. Oh well.

Nothing new on the docket news-wise. Still, a sad day for Bond with the loss of Heath Ledger. There was some speculation that he would take the reins of 007 after Daniel Craig finished up, so its sad to see such a promising actor taken from us so soon.

Sorry for the double post on this one, but this is big news.

The title has been decided.

Quantom of Solace, one of the few Fleming titles left in the vault, will be the title of the new 007 movie.

The plot, in broad strokes, revolves around Bond's (Craig) quest for revenge against the people who controlled Vesper (Eva Green in Royale). His journey leads him to Dominic Greene (Amalric) one of the leaders of the organization behind the events of the previous film. He has plans to make a fortune through natural resources (presumably in South America).

Sounds good to me!:pinky: This movie is gonna be good to be sure. The name is trippy. But Fleming created it all so it is good that they are honoring him like that.

New Teaser Poster for Bond's SOLACE

The first basic teaser poster and behind-the-scenes featurette for the next Bond adventure, titled Quantum of Solace, has made its way online this morning courtesy of Moviefone. The 22nd film is getting directed by Marc Forster (Finding Neverland) and it stars Daniel Craig, Olga Kurylenko, Mathieu Amalric, Judi Dench, Gemma Arterton, Jeffrey Wright, Jesper Christensen and Joaquin Cosio. Scribes Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and Paul Haggis penned the screenplay for MGM & Columbia Pictures.

Plot Summary: "Quantum of Solace" continues the high octane adventures of James Bond (Daniel Craig) in "Casino Royale."

Betrayed by Vesper, the woman he loved, 007 fights the urge to make his latest mission personal. Pursuing his determination to uncover the truth, Bond and M (Judi Dench) interrogate Mr White (Jesper Christensen) who reveals the organisation which blackmailed Vesper is far more complex and dangerous than anyone had imagined.

Forensic intelligence links an Mi6 traitor to a bank account in Haiti where a case of mistaken identity introduces Bond to the beautiful but feisty Camille (Olga Kurylenko), a woman who has her own vendetta. Camille leads Bond straight to Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), a ruthless business man and major force within the mysterious organisation.

On a mission that leads him to Austria, Italy and South America, Bond discovers that Greene, conspiring to take total control of one of the world's most important natural resources, is forging a deal with the exiled General Medrano (Joaquin Cosio). Using his associates in the organisation, and manipulating his powerful contacts within the CIA and the British government, Greene promises to overthrow the existing regime in a Latin American country, giving the General control of the country in exchange for a seemingly barren piece of land.

In a minefield of treachery, murder and deceit, Bond allies with old friends in a battle to uncover the truth. As he gets closer to finding the man responsible for the betrayal of Vesper, 007 must keep one step ahead of the CIA, the terrorists and even M, to unravel Greene's sinister plan and stop his organisation.

Quantum of Solace will hit theaters Nov. 7, 2008.
