It's getting a bit hard to keep up with the overflow of information coming through, so I think we should use this thread as a quick means of keep track.

This is the final roster folks. All credible sources indicate this is the final roster in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, so please brace yourselves.

I don't believe the "Toon Link". It doesn't make any sense. Why would they call him "Toon". He's not a cartoon character. Perhaps if he was titled "Young Link" I would find it more believeable considering all of his young apperances lately have been in that style, but not "Toon".

Sow what you're saying is that you don't believe the screenshots SK posted are real? They would call him "toon link" because very few casual players will know what "cel-shaded" means, and just "young link" isn't specific enough, since there's multiple versions of young link.

Yeah, that does look fake. lol. After looking at it, that Star Wolf is fake. lol. Anyways, it is just photoshoped with the real picture that I didn't post. Geez, people are quick. But so far, there is only one more space to fit a character now. Unless they squeeze 4 more. But it looks like this may be the final characters minus Star Wolf.

I think charcaters aside from Lucario, Jigglypuff and Ness should be listed separately, because they are from unofficial sources. I refuse to believe 100% that any of the others are real (except maybe Marth, since it takes a ton of effort to fake a video like that), even though the screenshots are good evidence towards them. I am less willing to believe Wolf and ROB, since their screenshots could have easily been faked.

I am utterly disappointed by the inclusion of Game & Watch and ROB (who would have made a great Assist Trophy or item) and the exclusion of Krystal. The novelty of having ROB wore off after Mario Kart. He was a cool surprise, but not worth being a Nintendo mainstay. G&W, to be fair, at least was an important Nintendo character.

But oh well, you can't have them all. I am excited about the rest of the list.

I know a lot of people including me are hoping for 4 more secret characters, but this does look like the official list. 14 new characters for Brawl (New as in not in Melee), that is a great list in my opinion. Still wanted Mega Man and Isaac, but what can you do. XD

It does look like all the characters are there. But in that other thread theres a picture which makes me think there could be more... Some of the characters in Brawl required you to play for like 20 hours or something. The game isnt even out yet, so it would be pretty difficult to do a similar task in the amount of time they had it for... But its just me being hopeful for more.

I was going to say, yes, two that nearly everyone liked, and a few others of varying quality. The one on the DS isn't bad.

It does seem strange, though, that there are three characters in this game from a series that Nintendo doesn't seem to care much for. The last time they touched it themselves was in 1998.

He's awesome! I saw a movie of him on youtube and although he has the same 'moves' as link, they are all very different compared to normal Link. Theres a much larger difference between Link and Toon Link in Brawl than there was a difference between Link and Young Link in Melee. Ill bet they have different final smashes, too.

Knuckles, Krystal, Paper Mario (these first three would have been good playables), Ridley, Metal Gear Rex/Ray, maybe even Dr. Mario. He could just throw a screenfull of pills at everyone and run away like some sort of kamikaze drug addict.

Yeah... they got one of those... I even heard he rides in his own Land Master as well for his FS. I hope they confirm Land Master as a playable character in Smash 4.

Actually, I have seen the Japanese "All Characters Unlocked" screen from the same people with the Star Wolf shots. I will see if I can find it, but holy smokes there is a lot of threads of SSBB on that site. lol

Also, right when Star Wolf is unlocked, All-Star Mode was unlocked which in Melee only came out once all of the characters were unlocked.

Creating a balanced fighting system in a game with 30+ characters (each with different movesets) is tough enough, so I'd imagine that's at least part of the reason for the semi-clone nature of Ganondorf, Toon Link, Falco and Wolf.

Also, on a side note, Falco has been Luigified. Apparently almost all of his specials have changed to some degree, as have many of his smash and standard attacks. This would leave him about as much of a clone of Fox and Luigi was of Mario in Melee.

Of course, I don't remember any bitching about 2 Mario clones back then...

Im not disappointed in the least. All the characters I wanted have either been included or were too unreasonable in the first place. I actually like having clones because if you like a characters moveset but think hes too slow or fast or too weak you can choose the other one and he might be better suited to you.

And if Falco has been Luigified then Wolf might be the one to turn to for all of us who played as Falco in Melee.

The thing is people want to see their favorite characters. I really wanted to see Toon Link, but I know ill probably end up playing as someone else. I wasnt in any way angry about Wolf's inclusion, but I think they could have put someone cooler in. But since Falco's been Luigified theres a good chance that I may end up playing as Wolf. Err... I dont know what point i was trying to make. I guess that people just want to see their favorite characters... but in the end it doesnt really matter. (I agree with you)

I keep myself in check by thinking back to before everything started leaking and i got super hyped up by all this awesome new stuff that would be in Brawl. Once we get the game we'll all realise that the character roster is bigger and better than Melee's and then we'll start to notice all the awesome new modes and forget about what could have been and instead focus on the upgrades.

So yeah, 35 is great to me.

What I find hilarious is people would be less pissed off if we got 34 characters without Wolf instead of 35 characters with Wolf. Where's the logic? Has it occurred that he may play an important part in the Supspace Emissary's storyline?

Or he may actually be a meaningful addition to the roster? If it had have been Geno with the exact same moves just dressed up people would be praising Sakurai for it...

Also, on a side note, Falco has been Luigified. Apparently almost all of his specials have changed to some degree, as have many of his smash and standard attacks. This would leave him about as much of a clone of Fox and Luigi was of Mario in Melee.

Of course, I don't remember any bitching about 2 Mario clones back then...

If the final character revealed was Sonic in stead of Wolf, the entire internet would implode with sheer joy. It's just anticlimactic more than anything else.

I pretty much agree. Though, Rob the Robot is still came completely out of left field (I don't think many people were clamouring for him though lol).

By the way, for any of the hardcore smash players; I was wanting to find out if L canceling has officially been removed due to the change in the physics engine?

I never cared for it much in the first place, but I know alot of hardcore players lived and breathed by it in Melee.

Wolf is a joke and as I said 34 was fine by me, no matter Im going to beat the living day lights out of Wolf, G&W and ROB (though he is looking really OP from what Ive seen).
