Provided they reach an agreement for a contract extension and he passes a physical. All I can say is THANK GOD!! I was so tired about hearing about the possibility of the Yanks shipping out Hughes and Cabrera + for him. That being said...seriously? I can't believe that they took this deal and passed on the deals offered by the Yanks and the BoSox.

And they still aren't the best team in the NL. Getting Santana adds some much-needed starting muscle, but the bottom of the rotation needs work and so does the pen. Love Reyes and Wright, but the rest of the team needs to wake up and try to work cohesively.
Arizona, top to bottom, is the toughest team to beat. They got a lot better in the offseason, adding Danny Haren to the rotation.
Rich get richer, poor get poorer. A sad day for baseball.

i think they tie or slight advantage to the mets. We pwn Arizona since the Randy Johnson days. Its a second home field for the mets.

Well, one can only hope you don't have another meltdown reminiscent of the 64 Phillies, which is still the worst ever.

i totally forgot about that with (hopefully) signing of santana. All we need is delgado, pedro, and sanchez to make a return and we could be looking at a 2006 regular season all over again.

I still can't decide if I'm upset that the Yankees did'nt get him. I'm a fan of Hughes but we know Santana is a sure thing and those are hard to come by.
