i don't have rock band but guitar hero. The only songs i bought was the foo fighters pack, and the halo one was for free. I'm not sure if i should buy the rest since im not that good at it.
edit:
Downloaded the Classic Rock Pack with Any way you want it by Journey, Jukebox Hero and Peace by boston. Really good pack. I don't like the others.

At D3adcell's suggestion, I downloaded the Metallica pack: And Justice For All, Ride the Lightning, and Blackened. Definitely, definitely the best pack so far.
I'd get the 2 Rush songs but I'm seeing if a 3rd comes out and then I can get a pack maybe.

I've heard good things about the Metallica pack. I have it in mind, but at the time of purchase I only planned on spending $10. The Police pack took priority for me.

I saw some videos of the Classic Rock Pack. I probably would've gotten it too if the pack was released before Rock Band. Unfortunately, I don't play GH3 much anymore and don't plan on buying any songs for it after seeing Rock Band's prices (+ the ability to sing and drum)
Speaking of Rock Band content.. the March edition of the Official Xbox Magazine listed what the DLC will be in March.
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg318/hatrikk/100_9158.jpg
Harmonix (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showpost.php?p=293637&postcount=246) answered to this saying that these tracks are indeed in the works and planned for March, but they run on a tentative schedule that commonly changes daily. Therefore, these dates may change.

I'm planning on the Metal Pack (Wrathchild, Supernaut, Fuel), Message in a Bottle and MAYBE Simple Man.
I loved Wrathchild in GH80s.. and Message in a Bottle is in GH2 but it's still awesome. I know I'm paying for songs that I already had in GH but it's still worth it to me, since my Ps2 isn't closeby and now there's vocals and drums. Maybe this time I'll finally 100% combo Message in a Bottle.. since I got fed up with GH2's solo charting at the end of the song.

Fuel would be really fun to play.
I have bought the metallica pack, it is awesome. Worth it if anyone likes metallica at all.

Ok, just went and listened to the Iron Maiden song. Cute.
Listened to Supernaut and am guessing it won't be my friend on drums... that solo probably will annihilate me.
Maybe I'll grab that pack in March. Or maybe not. Depends on how careless I feel with my remaining MS points.

They're probably easiest to work with.
Yeah, probably easier to gain rights to more songs from bands who already let you use their songs than starting fresh and convincing a different band to let their song be used.

I wish they would add a little more variety though.. I mean they could at least get some songs from artists that they used in GH1 & 2? Not necessarily the same song, but where's Megadeth and Ozzy?
I can see they already grabbed Lynyrd Skynyrd, so there's hope for more.
Let's see....
Coheed and Cambria - Ten Speed (Of God's Blood and Burial)
Stone Temple Pilots - Interstate Love Song
Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast
All-American Rejects - Move Along
All-American Rejects - Dirty Little Secret
Rush - Working Man
Metallica Pack 01 (...And Justice for All, Blackened, Ride the Lightning)
I'm forced to question why Harmonix couldn't get a master track for Ten Speed, but they could get one for Welcome Home. Hmm...well, the cover isn't horrible. It sounds off, but if you haven't listened to a lot of Coheed before, it's actually spot on. I just wish they would add more of Coheed's progressive songs; the non-singles.
Interstate Love Song was an odd choice for the game, but I love the song anyway. I think Wicked Garden should be added at some point. Iron Maiden is mandatory, but I wouldn't mind seeing some of their newer songs in the game (particularly off their Brave New World album). The All-American Rejects are there to coax my girlfriend into playing the game (which she eventually did. YAY! :D)
Working Man is a good song, hopefully Freewill gets tossed into the mix at some point. Metallica is mandatory at all times, plus Blackened and Ride the Lightning are awesome songs. Well, they aren't that fun to sing too, but meh. I'm hoping for more songs just as long as they avoid St. Anger (I'd take a couple from their Load album).
I like how we get to see what March's songs are going to be, yet we remain clueless as to what Feburary will hold. March looks slightly disappointing, though. The Metal Pack is really all I'm planning on buying. Well, that and Message in a Bottle. I'm listening to the songs in the Thrash pack. It's all a "maybe" at this point.
Also, I think we need some more DragonForce.

I have downloaded the metalica pack..... and both rush songs.... and both All American Reject Songs....and Fortunate Son.... and Wonderwall.....
Wonderwall is great for the drums Lucent.... although.... I can't beat it on expert though..... and it's also one that some might be able to100% on expert vocals.
Anyway.... I LOVE hte RockBand DC.....Guitar Hero sucks in comparison becuase they never have anything.... it's crazy that RB has somthing new EVERY week.

So far I've downloaded My Iron Lung by Radiohead, Hard To Handle (Black Crowes), and Interstate Love Song. I think I might have downloaded one more, but I can't remember exactly. I want to get the Oasis pack one of these days, and I'm really hoping for some Muse one of these days, and some more Radiohead. Coldplay would be great too :-D
I know it'll never happen but I think Starsailor would be great in Rock Band, and some Black Rebel Motorcycle Club :-D

Calling Dr. Love - Kiss: http://youtube.com/watch?v=AfNp7HVXvVE&feature=related (live)

Available Tuesday for 360 and Thursday for Ps3 as usual. I might get Calling Dr. Love.
I'm kind of disappointed with the songs coming out for this week.
I wonder how seriously the developer's take the requests on Rock Band website. I also kind of wonder what songs seem to be getting the most requests so far. I mean, who really wants The B-52's?
I think I'm going to spam some more requests.

Don't count on playing downloadable songs online with people too often. If one person in the band doesn't have the song, it's not available to play.

I don't have the game but my girlfriend bought Roxanne, Buddy Holly, Working Man, the Oasis pack, War Pigs (my suggestion) and a few more. It's really cool how they're supporting it much better than the Guitar Hero games.
I really wish I could play War Pigs on expert drums. It's such a fun drum part. :(

Oh yeah, and DLC.
I'll have to look up the drums on that... I wasn't a fan of War Pigs in GH2 so I wasn't interested in buying it, but if it's got fun drums then maaaybe. But still probably no.

I just got the gmae a few days ago, I plan on getting the Bowie pack, metallica, Oasis, and Weezer soon as I finish the main game.
I just downloaded Limelight by Rush. I was over at a friends' place and we ended up playing that song a few times. I figured I should've downloaded it, considering I'm a bit of a Rush fan. Alas, Limelight is stuck in my head and I just played it on my computer about 10 times in a row.
I'll probably pick up "All the Small Things" by Blink 182 next week, since my girlfriend wants me to get it (so she can play it). Hopefully there will be my DLC next week that appeals more to my music tastes *cough*moreCoheed&Cambria*cough*

Since I've expert guitaring / expert singing down well enough, I decided to move onto expert drumming / expert singing. This turned out to be a lot a lot harder. For me, the problem is breath control. Drumming is significantly more physically taxing than playing guitar/bass in RB and so I didn't anticipate how my breathing changed as a result of drumming. This interferes with singing because rather than having breath control over phrases, I start losing breath in the middle of a line and sometimes there isn't enough of a pause to grab a catch-breath.
Hmmmmmmm, I think ultimately it'll be a lot more difficult. Even just "In Bloom" felt tricky with both drums + vocals. Though, even vocals alone, that song has a more annoying phrase pattern for breathing. We'll see....
I just started doing the guitar/bass + vocals band yesterday. I'm changing between hard and expert for the guitar, expert for bass, and easy, medium, or hard for vocals. It's pretty tricky for me, mostly because my eyes are forced to move around. I'm not too familiar with every song, so I don't always know what pitch to sing at. So, it's usually a 4x multiplier when singing, but I'm screwing up on the notes below, or a 4x/6x multiplier while screwing up my pitch. I tried doing the humming thing and it worked for a little bit, but not long enough.
Man, it's going to take for-friggin'-ever to get this BWT achievements :(

"Hey all,
Just to clarify I am going to post the following which is an official message regarding this leak
"This list of Rock Band DLC that was discovered within the files of a recent DLC pack is unconfirmed and subject to change. Please stay tuned for confirmation of Rock Band DLC closer to their release."
Essentially until I post here and say something is imminent it isn't.
Thanks!
Sean"
HMX seems to either say the rumor is fake or they say that it's subject to change. The list found also only had song titles, that's why some artists have question marks or more than one possibility. Oh and a few of these songs were already released.

I agree that it sucks on guitar (I think D3adcell was falling asleep during it), and I'm sure it sucks on bass too. But it's got cute vocals and a surprisingly good drum part, so I don't mind. I've always been partial to Pinkerton, and to El Scorcho itself for it's cute lyrics.

Nine Inch Nails DLC Penetrates Rock Band

Nine Inch Nails - "The Perfect Drug" (master)
