Guillermo Del Toro, who brought us the amazing Pan's Labyrinth, will be directing both of the upcoming Lord of The Rings movies, the Hobbit and its unnamed sequel.
The screenplay is stuck in the mud because of the ongoing WGA strike, but Peter Jackson has already signed on to be executive producer.
As is usual for the LOTR franchise, both will be shot back to back with a $150 million budget for each. The Hobbit will have an aimed release date of 2010, while its sequel will be released the year after.
No word on whether Weta Workshop will be handling the effects or not.
