Um you can keep trying on that site OR when the beta opens there is an option section in the games menu where you sign up. It worked for me just fine, but i think i signed up before the rush though.

i don't think it's a matter of generalizing here. i don't like multiplayer because it removes the story and reduces the game to survive or kill. that doesn't interest me. it's not ignorance it's experience of watching and playing multiplayer

Hi all! Our Metal Gear posts are attracting so much attention that we’re popping back in ahead of schedule to answer some of your questions off the regular Metal Gear Mondays schedule.

To start, we have been getting reports that some of you are receiving partial digit UPVC’s Metal Gear Online Beta on the “Metal Gear Saga Vol. 2″ DVD inserts. We are aware of this issue and are working hard to remedy. If you’ve been affected by this issue, please contact us at http://www.konami-data.com/support/. Please be sure to include your partial code, and any other pertinent details (like a return email address, etc). We thank you for your patience.

Second, as some of you may have noticed, the download of the MGO Beta client is now available. Carefully following the instructions you received with your UPVC, you can go grab it. Once it’s downloaded and installed, and you hit the main menu, you’ll notice to proceed you need to sign in your PSN account. Once you’ve done that, you’ll see that there is an update that must be downloaded and installed. From there, the next menu is where you can sign up for your Konami ID/Game ID, which are required to play Metal Gear Online. You can also sign up for a Konami ID/Game ID at http://id.konami.net at any time using a web browser on a PC as well. Once you have signed up for your Konami ID/Game ID, and input it into MGO on your PS3, you can select the option to save the login and password and just login directly in the future without having to input it again.

Following that, until gameplay begins on the 21st, you will just receive an error if you try to sign in to play MGO right now.

As mentioned in the previous posts about Metal Gear Online and Konami ID, the Konami ID/Game ID will be used to offer community and other features with Metal Gear Online, similar to some other popular multiplayer online game web communities, except in this case the web community is directly integrated into the game client which allows for some special functionality. As you use Metal Gear Online, you will see how the PS3 web browser is seamlessly integrated into the experience, and then of course, you can go and access the community when you are away from your PS3 as well, using a web browser on a PC. We’ll reveal more about the community features of MGO at a later date.

April 18, 2008 - The Metal Gear experience has always been a solitary experience. It's been great and we've embraced it for the awesome single-player gameplay that it has brought to the table, but there comes a point in a series' lifespan when it's time to expand. Time to break the former boundaries of one's youth, spread those wings and fly into the world of online gaming. Beta keys are currently making their way into some lucky gamers' hands, but at this year's New York Comic-Con Metal Gear Online was on display for anyone to come up and play for themselves.

The setup was simple. Eight LCD screens, four facing one side, four on the other. It was red vs. blue in a classic team deathmatch scenario on Blood Bath, one of the five maps that will ship with the game. The introduction to the game was very simple. Being someone that has never played Metal Gear Solid 4's single-player game, I had absolutely no problems jumping in, setting up my primary, secondary and projectile weapons and kicking things off. There's also an interesting option that lets you pick different sets of music. There were only two available in our version. One featured thumping rock tunes that felt a little out of place when things slowed down, and the other track was much softer and stealthier sounding.

The gameplay is obviously classic Metal Gear fare, but with seven other humans running around. I found it interesting that there is no free-fire option. Pressing down on the right trigger alone is a melee attack with your gun, while pressing the left trigger brings up the aiming reticule for you to aim around as you see fit. There's a togglable auto-aim feature that didn't work for me at all. I was taken down repeatedly while trying to make use of the auto aiming feature. Maybe I wasn't using it right, but for me the targeting reticule was the way to go.

As any Metal Gear fan would expect, there's a cover system for players to utilize in Online. It doesn't work as in other third-person shooters, but it serves its purpose. The one escape maneuver is a dive move that will undoubtedly be used like crazy by online players. There were pieces of cover throughout each of the three levels in Blood Bath – catwalks are above, there's a middle level where the bulk of the action takes place and a lower sewer-like level – and people constantly dove behind them to evade my barrage of bullets. In other deathmatch games I would have just lobbed a grenade at the press of a button but in true Metal Gear fashion you'll need to select grenades from a menu to use them.

My character also came outfitted with a box in his tools menu that could be equipped at any time. There are also random box shells sitting around the environment that are indiscernible from what players can equip. There were a few occasions when I found myself feeling a little paranoid and wound up blasting the hell out of a few innocent boxes. Of course it was the one that I didn't annihilate that housed the guy with a combat knife. Live and learn.

There's no question that Metal Gear Online is a different breed of online shooter. It's not fast, it's not based around reflexes, no, it's much more thought-out than that. I got myself registered using firefox using the autoformer add-on. When it said put your birthdate I saved in. Then when I put in all my info I did another save. So you don't need to type out anything and just press next.

I don't know if this will help anyone but after multiple failures using Safari and IE7 I logged in to my PS3 and was able to do the registration from within the game when it launched the Konami ID page with no issues.

The interesting part is that I got the "this email is already in use" since I used it for my Japanese Konami ID, this leads me to believe that the systems are tied together and they are just blocking my JKonami ID from the US beta of MGSO

I say this because Konami is known for bad online.
I got Pro Evolution Soccer 08 for PC (Konami) and it's online is horrible.
After spending a while registering, getting a code (this is the full version), you end up playing very laggy online matches.

It's clear Konami hasn't got the grasp of online this gen and I don't know why they don't let another company handle the online component of their games, like EA* for example.

The original comment was unwarranted because it's just a fucking beta. We already know that a failure to launch for a beta is nothing new. People should expect things like this. Fifty bucks says the game's gonna crash for someone at some point during gameplay.

GTA was speculated to be out October, Rockstar never gave a firm date, their only firm release date was 29th April and guess what, it's coming out 29th April not to mention the online will probably work...¬_¬

That's not true at all. In fact, Peter Moore officially unveiled the OFFICIAL release date for GTA IV to be October 16th with a nifty "tattoo."

And when MGS4 actually does come out, the online will work great. This is a beta, mate.

As far as ID's go, I said earlier that I tried to do it in Safari but it kept fucking up but as soon as I switched to Firefox it worked. Maybe try switching browsers.
