View Full Version : New Eight Days rumours
RUMOUR: Eight Days Revealed to Public in March
Zitat:
Again!!
What I know...
- It has a new name... No I do not know it.. but it's not going to be called Eight days no more.
- It is not going to be a digital distributed game as previously thought. I.E. 1 day is a chapter released over a set period of time on the PSN. They might do this, but they have a full retail version.
- The release date is set for October of 08
- The game takes place across 8 different states and 8 days.
- You play as 1 of 2 characters... both have their own story line and both have their own abilities and specialties and what not. 1 character is a bad guy... The other a good guy. The bad guy is out for revenge on his former mob team who left him out to dry and the other is a detective who's son has been kidnapped by the mod syndicate. The two join up to get revenge or what ever.
- The animation system is like nothing you've ever seen. It even rivals that of Uncharted if you go off the dev's.
- It'll be the 1st game to ever implement Google mapper into it's core mechanics.
- The game has real time day to night. If you play at night, the game will be set at night. If you play in the day... It'll be played in the day. So forth and so on.
- The game pushes you on instead of back... The game is so expansive that you literally have no time to go back. It's all forward and you'll never revist a location. You're constantly on the move. That doesn't mean you can't go back the way you came, it just means you're better off going on your way as time and meeting new people is crucial and setting up new events leads to your ultimate goal.
for instance, if you miss a contact in "said" location and town... you'll have to try and catch up to them before its too late.
They said... Think of it as an action [movie]. A non stop ride from start to finish. We want you always moving and going and not expecting what's next.
---
I've got some more to post about it so I'll come back to it but I really wanted to post this info so there ya go. Look for the offical statement in the coming weeks... I'm so jacked about this game, even more than I was.
This is going to be the defining game for the Ps3 and next gen gaming as a whole... WOW!

Yeah that'd be cool. It's nice when games have day and night cycles but it never made much sense for a day to be 24 minutes instead of 24 hours. I mean, I haven't done 24 hours worth of stuff in that time period, it's just kinda silly.

Or you can just change the internal clock on the PS3

That is soon very HUGE smack talk man. I will be super surprised if that is true.
We shall see.....
The game pushes you on instead of back... The game is so expansive that you literally have no time to go back. It's all forward and you'll never revisit a location. You're constantly on the move. That doesn't mean you can't go back the way you came, it just means you're better off going on your way as time and meeting new people is crucial and setting up new events leads to your ultimate goal.

This is very kool. I have always wanted a gmae that really instilled a sense of time passing, as in if you don't get to a place by a certain time, the game is messed up for you and catching up is a must.
GTA had this in some aspects, but this sounds more serious.

Again, huge, massive smack talking. Usually when devs/publishers start this kind of massive smack talking it is a BAD sign. Over promising and under delivering. Not good at all.

@LaLi: Yeah and if you really WANT to play at a certain time, just change the system clock (like aclar said).
In DRIV3ER i always set the time and weather to what it was in real life where i live, gives you a cool "youre in the game" feeling.

Nice to see some new rumors, but I'd like them to turn out to be true for once.

Why is that smack talk? These guys have access to Naughty Dogs Tech, you know that right?

Since when? I have never seen that any where. Is that true? Any one confirm that?

No joke on that. It is not that I don't want this game to turn out super good, but lets see the goods.

If you take a look at the source, the guy has been posting a lot of speculation recently that has been completely wrong. Don't trust these rumors.
What do you mean since when? both dev teams are owned by Sony.

Intel: 8 Days Looks Better Than Killzone 2. Will Be Awesome
By Fel Martins

Ever wonder what happened to 8 days? We sent our PS3informer spy out to infiltrate Sony's studios to see what they could uncover. Turns out the game is going to be far better than any of us imagined. (And no, this isn't a 'rumor').
The trailer and gameplay demo was shown in private by someone at the Sony London Team and was not the Tears of Blood game the BBC reporter saw. (Oh, by the way, the game the BBC reporter saw was the new Magna Carta game ‘Tears of Blood’.) Most importantly: the game is still in development. So far, it looks better than any game so far shown or in existence (even killzone 2)
Next thing, is the title. The name is changed. I can't say to what--but here's a hint for the people "Passes." The storyline follows through an episodic almost which is not limited in its depth. The story involves 2 men looking to get revenge on a mob for reasons unknown. What’s so beautiful about the game is that it’s entirely everlasting through gameplay mechanics. Through the journey, they have to face off with some mob members looking to stop them and in even one series and random occurrences you might have to outrace them to the destination to get to a witness. If they get ahead of you—you need to make haste to save the victim. If the witness is killed—you can have a shootout and figure out where to head next by stealing items from the mob, or looking into their vehicle. Expect to be doing a lot of driving across the U.S. and looking for clues wherever you are. The game map is unparalleled and expect any and every location to have clues and mob right around the corner, or not.
As for gameplay immersion, the concepts of cut-snaps are included. Showing intense immersion between short cg (what appears to be CG) "cut-snaps" and realtime gameplay, the game revolutionizes events.” Imagine this, you get to the Grainyard Gas station and see mob members ready to block you up ahead (similar to the E3 trailer in 06’). Soon after, a shootout commences and you run into a diner window (everything in the environment can be initialized including doors, etc.). As you crash through, you are given an IMMEDIATE short snap of what appears to be CG. The genius is you can’t tell that it’s CG because the action is severely intense and manages to blend in well with the short sequences. The seamless transition between the two concepts of gameplay is brilliant and there are no load times. In terms to how it compares back to the E3 06' trailer, the only things one can express is no shock. The gameplay and sheer real time visuals and methods used to render the games assets far surpass the E3 06' trailer. As for anyone wanting to know the release of the game, it is scheduled for October 2008, but most likely will be delayed to Spring of 2009.
(Ed-These screens are NOT from the new gameplay video we saw. Sorry, but you're just going to have to wait a while for those.)

Well, that is good news. I still want to see the good before I believe shit. Better than Killzone 2? Lets see it then. Prove it to us. If so then that is great. If not then it is just smack talk.
Man E2 2008 can not come fast enough. If all this stuff proves to be true, then Sony will drop an H-Bomb on the place.

Eight Days Intel: New leaked Screenshots + E3 06' information.

First thing's first: The title the BBC reporter saw was a new Tears of Blood game, not Magna Carta or a remake of that title. (That's a misunderstanding on my part.)
Second order of business has to do with the E306 video we saw about 2 years ago.
The trailer is part in-game, part CGI "cut snaps". The parts that were CGI were the two dudes opening the trunk, the window-crashing scene and the guy lighting a flame in his hand. Everything else in that trailer was in game.
Lastly, here's 2 screens, a character model of one of the mob members. Of course Sony is going to deny that these are legit, just like they did with Home and the PS3 price drop, but that's fine. If we know when a liar is lying, and they know that, then is it really lying? (Lets leave that question to the philosophers.)

Nice ZBrush/Mudbox pics. That texture is all right, but nothing to write home about. That wire frame on the lower one is pretty good with that Normal Map applied. It has good poly flow. Not bad...

If the visuals have exceeded the E3 footage shown back in the day I would be impressed. Also, I like the cinematic vibe being rumored, because Uncharted felt like an action movie and was the best adventure game released in 2007.
