hey, I swear one of the characters looks like Ash from phantom brave, or just too many similarities. Looks pretty cool, but why don't the character's Gfx look smooth/clear while the map Gfx is very clear >.>

From the looks of it, I'd say it could be a downloadable game... (not saying it doesn't look good, I just don't think overall it'll take up that much space to warrant a Blu Ray)

My eyes crossed up the thread title for this and the MGS4 thread and I read it as MGS4 announced for August in the US. I was about to be LIVID.

if you've never played this game you won't understand what i'm about to say: it's not about the graphics

But cliffbo, how can you say that when you absolutely loathe 2D fighters?

But doesn't it seem like a waste of production costs to put this on a Blu Ray when the size this game probably takes up could be a download? I guess we need to see more on the game, but it seems like a waste of Blu Ray's space & the extra costs involved if they make this a $60 disc.

I thought the same thing you guys did about these kind of games when i got FF Tactics, thinking to myself wow this is really not final fantasy at all and looks pathetic, until i got addicted and clocked in at just under 90 hours to finish it and loved every minute. These kind of games have endless playtime and some harcore nuts have spent 200 to 300 hours + playing digaea games.

Disgaea is awesome, but there is no reason to not have HD sprites at the moment. But Nippon Ichi is a pretty small studio, and Atlus is the one that does all the work to release their titles here, so I guess I can't complain.

I didn't say the game has to look like Uncharted, but there not even trying to distinguish it from the Ps2 version:rant:

Is it so hard for these characters to be drawn a little bigger with more animation and hi-res sprites?!

Odin's sphere, a PS2 game is crapping on a PS3 game graphically??! That's just not reasonable...

I love this game, it would be nice if they could give you a visual treat on top of the awesome gameplay and storytelling...

Especially when your working on a freakin PS3.

Simple answer, yes it is hard and therefore expensive (you know art is the most expensive part of a games creation right?). Thats a reason, even if it's not one you like :P.

NIS America: PS2 lacks the power to run Disgaea 3

How important are graphics in the scheme of game design? Do they trump audio? Level design? Gameplay? Peer pressure probably dictates that we downplay the importance of graphics, but the impact of eye candy cannot be understated. Anyone believing differently need only take a cursory glance at comments made by readers in reaction to news that NIS America would bring the third game in its popular console strategy franchise Disgaea to the PlayStation 3 this August.

The reactions were made not to the game's release date, but rather to the title's appearance, which despite calling Sony's latest console home, look very much the part of a last gen release. Recently we caught up with the publisher's marketing coordinator Jack Niida, and asked him a number of questions about the game, including just what's the deal with Disgaea 3's lack of visual fidelity.

"It's simply because PS2 lacks the processing power and memory capacity to support Disgaea 3," Jack told us. "PS2 could not load the same amount of data on to memory and process it like the PS3; therefore, we decided to develop it for the next-gen platform." He added that "the character sprites for Disgaea 3 take 3~4 times the amount of labor to create compared to Disgaea 2," and the team is "doing our best to improve the sprites."

While you mull over that justification, and decided if it's enough of a reason to continue to look forward to Disgaea 3's release this fall, look for our complete interview with NIS America later this week.
