Sergeant Major, with a few thousand before I become Command Sergeant.
I mainly play on the official SCEA instances, thus I have about 100 hours on ranked servers.
If I get the Warhawk Recruiting award, I think I'll jump up about 3 ranks. But I'm just plain lazy :-D
Before you start moaning, I know it's an easy one to get. I just don't spend enough time on the game, or in Warhawks when I do play.

I dont care about rank anymore, the ranked servers are full of dudes that play constantly and totally kick my ass (I.E. Coded-Dude :P)

I usually play in the offical servers. The first time I played on a players server I got booted. I don't know why they don't just put a password on their server if they don't want someone to play on it.

I think for most of them you need a specific medal and a certain number of points to progress. If you go to the rank advancement menu, you'll be able to see what you need.

I would care about rank if it weren't for it taking absurd hour crunching to rank up (not like the game boosts your stats or gets more fun or gives you abilities). The only incentive to rank up is character and jet customization, which I find more insulting than anything else. Customization in multiplayer games should be laid bare from the start, and if we do have to earn every little shirt, pants, helmet, and color swatch for our jet, it shouldn't take months of our lives. It's fucking retarded.

Completely and FULLY ACK... I hate it, that I cannot customize my char at all... All because I didn' play more than 20hrs yet...
They could just drop all the stats crap and let us rank after time played...
I hated this grinding shit in WoW and I hate it here too!

Morally, I can't dedicate enough hours to that game to justify getting to a General rank. There are other games to be played, other things to be done with my time all together.

Never played ranked, maybe a few times and I got promoted only once I think.
What does that make me.....1st airman I think.
My Game filter stays at- Player matches, Team Deathmatch, min of 4 players in the room.
That's the setting I always use to search rooms.
You should try out the other game modes. Zones is good fun, and CTF can be pretty cool sometimes.

Yeah if TeamDeathmatch matches are empty or I get bad ping on all, I usually go for CTF next.
I really can't stand Zones unless it's in the Omega Dawn map.
I prefer single easy missions instead of "capture a point, expand the point...oh shit you lost the point, go back to the point" lol

Playing Zones on a small map is a lot better, because it's a constant battle to keep the zone, and there's always someone around to have a battle with.
It would be nice to get a few different game modes. Dunno what they could add, but what we have now just doesn't seem enough to me.

I just became Airman 1st class. I'm not sure what I really did. No one was around me and I was just standing around the flag and it said I got promoted. lol.

I love playing zones, it is a blast defending zones, capturing them not so much...

It takes way too long to rank up in this game. Before the viral rank bug was fixed I'd play for the sole purpose of ranking up, but since then I haven't made much progress at all. They should just make four or five times as many ranks, but make it easier to progress. I hate playing the game for months and not moving up. Lately I've been waiting for the new patch before getting back into Warhawk regularly.

with zones...the ONLY point to the game is to capture/defend zones.
In CTF there is a more strategical advantage to having certain zones.
(like bridges, forward bases, etc.)
If you die and you see the other team has the flag you can spawn at a particular zone to cut them off.
(its not merely a matter of capturing the zone to get points)

I'm whatever rank before the one where you need the 4x4 award. I only tried to get that once, and it was on a SCEJ server because all the others were down. I'd run down a guy and due to lag I'd end up on the other side of him. Plus I got killed. A lot. It took me only one game like that to decide I didn't give a damn about my rank, certainly not enough to drive around getting killed in a jeep like a loony all game. The one stat I'm proud of and pay attention to is my K/D ratio.
I'm with Coded: CTF is where it's at - I play that almost exclusively. When the fight focuses down to just one point on the map and everyone is heading there, the intensity is friggin awesome.

That I can agree with, though the only people I have ever been in CTF with are complete idiots, which is why I hate playing it. But defending zones is still not more important in CTF, you can score without having any zone, I've been on teams where that has happened, but in zones if you don't capture zones you lose, period.

Command Sergeant, although I have enough points and medals to become much more. The problem is, I still haven't gotten the badge for aerial gunner since I keep ending up on teams that do nothing but defend the first base, leaving me to get ganged up on by multiple enemy fighter jets and sometimes torrets. I also have to admit that my strongest suit isn't piloting planes despite me knowing how to play defense quite well in them; it's ground combat. I'm ranked as either a warhawk or a master on just about all tasks for ground combat.

Which is why I'm pissed not just that the game is so stingy about doling them out, but that a lot of them are remarkably similar. For example, the paintjobs unlocked at Sarge and the one immediately preceding it are almost fucking identical

Maybe they'll add another udate to were you are given much more as a reward. Even still, after all this time the game still hasn't lost much value in it's gameplay.

I also have to admit that my strongest suit isn't piloting planes.
I'm not good at piloting planes too lol. Once I have a missle locked on me I start hitting mountains :duh: to escape lol. I always keep my finger on R2 to fly fast and when ever I switch to hover mode to attack jeeps that are leaving with the flag. I hover up because I forget to let go of R2 lol.
I probably won't be able to get the pilot badges and stuff lol. Ranking doesn't really matter to me. I'm just having fun doing what I'm doing. :)
