This game still doesnt have a release date in Australia. We're not going to get it for another few months, too. :realmad:

However, I have imported the Japanese version but Id like to play through SSE in English. Ill probably import the American version, but until then could you guys talk about it all in here? No spoiler tags needed. Also assume that everyone knows what all the characters are.

So how is it?

One question I have is Ive heard it might get repetitive, but would that be as repetitive as playing Adventure mode in Melee over and over again?

There is no dialogue in SSE mode from what i can tell (im about 21% into it atm) so you should be fine with playing it in Japanese. As for it being repetitive it is, but thats only because you have adventure mode in melee stretched out to fit some 8 hours and some of the characters arent as fun to play as as others ( i hate the kongs, for instance). But its not as bad as some have said it is, imo.

yeah.....I thought you already have een playing through it?..... its basically the same exact thing...you just don't know what stickers say what and so forth....

personally I don't know why they didn't jsut make it like melee where you could change the text language in the options menu .....but anyway....

I agree with Xer0..... it basically a stretched out version of adventure mode with kick ass cut scenes.... and no its not a terrible as some reviewers have mad it sound....its just that they could have made it the next 2d Mario platformer type game.....but didn't.... so the main complaint from people is that they missed out on it huge potential....

still fun so far.....but could have been uber fun.

I'm playing through the first time on hard.....i'm about 4 hours into it and only 34% or something.

I finished SSE a little bit ago. The last chapter is a pain in the ass, but the final boss was badass, so it made up for it.

What difficulty you guys playing on? I thought I might blow through it too quick on normal so I'm playing it on Hard mode first.

Its anything but quick. Im playing on hard atm and it is a bit of challenge since the game enjoys throwing everything at you at one time. Itll certainly last you.

My brothers and I co-oped it on hard. The difficulty seemed just right until the final boss. I swear, he was so much easier with one player than with two. Use Ivysaur's bullet seed, it just tears into him.

I keep hearing people say it was too repetitive. I just didn't feel that way at all. I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. In fact, it exceeded all of my expectations. Maybe playing on co-op added to the fun factor...I couldn't really say.

well... you're constantly fighting those same guys. I think it kind of gets annoying.

I kind of have mixed reactions to SSE. I like how they decided to expand on the Adventure mode from Melee, but I don't really like how they handled it. A lot of people have been complaining about the repetitive aspect of SSE. It's mildly repetitive. There's a fair share of back-tracking to be had and every level feels almost the same. The one thing that bugged the piss out of me was when I got 50% through the game and had to go through every level and re-fight every boss.
Also, I dislike not being able to choose who I play as. Sometimes I'd get stuck with characters I'm not that great with because of how the storyline was made. Alas, if I got to choose whoever I wanted there wouldn't be any of those lovely cutscenes. Something that kind of irked me was how easy it was to unlock the characters. A friend and I blazed through SSE in 7.5 hours. We unlocked everyone except for three characters and that's only because we didn't reload the completed file and backtrack.
Personally, I would've been content on just further expanding the Adventure mode like it was. Before fighting Mario, you had to jump around on Koopas and Goombas and before fighting Zelda, you had to find the Triforce. Doing more things along those lines with each character would've been fine for me. Instead, I had to fight relatively boring enemies.

Quick question about the SSE:
On the stages, some of them change colors and others have green flags.
What do they indicate?

The multicolor crown means you beat it, the flag means you've found all the level's secrets.

I would have liked it better if there had been a cohesive storyline with dialogue. The second-half also isn't nearly as good as the first, which is an added problem. It's adequate, but the weak second-half really damages what started as an intriguing beginning. And that "revelation" at the end. Thhpth.

Yeah that was really frustrating for me yesterday. I ended up searching online and found this map (http://www.1up.com/flat/MyCheats/SSBB/Final_subspace/98_maze_smashmap.jpg) because I was so eager to get Sonic. The red dot is where the final boss is, and if you go there prior to killing everyone you'll see in the background who you still need to find.

Everytime i play the SSE I just get mad, the controls and mechanics of this is retarded. The story and everything is cool, but the gameplay basically sucks. Has so many problems iwth the level design and controls for a game like this. Sometimes you just get stuck between enemies so you can do nothing but die, or double jump wont work. So annoying.

WTF when you have to play as Ness, king dedede, and luigi that is so annoying. The level is such shit.

I kind of like it, but not enough to want to play on anything other than Normal for difficulty. Sure Hard and up could make me better with some fighters.... maybe. Overall a fun diversion from brawls and stuff, but not the meat and potatoes.
