Is anyone else finding that they can play this game much better than Melee? I only ask this because my friends used to kick my ass and now I have been beating them or at the very least hanging with them

well.... I think they generally tried to balance the characters out more than they were in melee.... but I haven't really tried playing with anyone but myself yet.....so....

pluis.... I was usually the one who beat all my friends....but by no means was good compared to all of you though....probably that is.

Wouldn't it just be because it's a new game and things are different so everyone is sort of evened out with the same amount of experience.. not necessarily anyone playing it "better".. just it's new for everyone so the playing field is slightly leveled out.

The same thing happened from the original smash to melee. I was rocking with Kirby then and yet in melee he sucked (imo) and so i sucked cause my character of choice wasnt as good. Give it time to pick up a new character and youll go back to kicking his ass.

I never kicked ass and he is still playing at the same calibur he used to. Oh well, I'm psyched about it but he will probably ascend to a higher level than me

Hmm, miss read that. Either way, its a completely different set of character balancing, or at the very least, the new items can bring out new flaws or strengths in characters that werent really there before. I say enjoy it and talk as much smack as possible.

haha, I hate talking smack and not being able to back it up, but I guess hubris is half the fun

Your friends will eventually catch up and start kicking your ass again.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have yet to find a good way to defend against the insanity that is Olimar. I won seven of the eight games I've played with him, and then lost every game I played against him (being controlled by my brother, not the CPU).

There has to be a way to beat him, but I haven't really figured it out yet. His Pikimin throw and down smash just completely annihilate.

^dude... I love olimar.... hes a beast...

the only thing is that it gets hard to tel where the heck you are on the screen with all the pikmin around you....and especially if there is more than one.

I have no idea how to even play as Olimar. But Pit is definitely OP when I'm behind the wheel

OP?

I haven't yet figured out how to utilize pit.... I suck with him and die instantly..... but I haven't really tried to get good with him yet.

Here is how I'd rank the new characters in terms of effectiveness for me:
1. Meta Knight
2. Ike
3. Diddy Kong
4. Pikmin & Olimar
5. Pokemon Trainer
6. Pit
7. Wario
8. King Dedede
9. Lucas
10. Snake

haven't used the rest.

Metanight is just completely over powered, imo. My personal favorite is Ike, hes so aweasomely slow yet links his moves together nicely.
