I have yet to purchase the game, as i wont play it at my parents house anyways as im busy with other things and seeing friends i havent seen in months. So, until i get it this weekend, i want to know what YALL think?
I hear nothing but great things, but heard that alot of the characters got "nerfed", like Captain Falcon and some others. Also heard the short hops are nixed save for Link i believe.
Any other complaints? Have they started doing the updates for the game where we get new levels every day? How do you like those?
I hear there are lots of complaints about the online mode right now. Well, not lots, but enough.
Just gimme your OPINION!!!!!!! Thanks :thumbl:
SSBB has surprisingly revived my interest in gaming again, thank you nintendo.
Yes, characters have been "nerfed", especially MARTH. He used to have really long range, now it's been dumbed down and he just isn't nearly as effective anymore :(
PRAISE:
-Great graphics
-Great music
-I love the SSE Mode, especially the co-op feature.
-Challenging events, target smashes and the SSE mode can get really hard on Intense Mode.
- I love the alternate outfits for the characters, especially the Fusion suit for Samus.
CONS
- Laggy internet (for now, hopefully)
- No headset (really makes online dull)
- Not enough characters
That's my impressions for now.

It's not so much that some of the characters have been nerfed, it's just that the game has become more balanced. BTW, Dedede may be the guy I main for 1v1.

So far I have been disappointed. It's not a step in the right direction really. I wanted to see some "evolution" but what we get is more of the same.
While I haven't unlocked everything, I'd say, as of right now, that Melee is better than Brawl.
When I have finished unlocking everything, I am not positive I'll come back to playing Brawl besides for the gaming league I am in since its included on the game roster.
It's far too tedious right now to get full praise from me. So that would mean, buy it if you liked the previous two but don't expect any leaps in innovation or originality.

If im not mistaken, the character roster was significantly upped in this edition. STILL not enough?

Theres like... 15 new characters... I don't see what there is to bitch about.
Game is fan-fucking-tastic. I pretty much have to pry myself away from it to do other things.

Honestly, I think I can say I won't be playing this game for more than a month. In fact I don't know if I will ever beat SSE, because it gets so repetitive and dull... except for the occasional boss fights that are far and few between.
Multiplayer is fun, but Nintendo seems to still be behind 5 years when it comes to that aspect. I really don't know too many people in person that have this game when compared to Halo 3 or CoD 4. I play with my brother sometimes, and thats about it. I haven't been able to play a single online match, but I'm not really looking forward to that either. Nintendo screwed this game over bad due to their lack of interest in online gaming.
I still think it is worth the purchase. There is so much content in the game and so much you can do. I would give it like an 8.5/10

Take Melee, ramp up everything, toss in an extra here, an extra there, more this, more that and you have Brawl.
It's Melee on steroids.

I agree with this statement.
Too much hype was around this game.
With the results that came away from Brawl, I hope that the next Mario Kart game is superbly better than Double Dash rather than it being on steriods.
I have faith that Nintendo won't let me down with Mario Kart because Brawl just clearly isn't going to be my GOTY for 2008 like I thought it had the potential of being.
After 2008 is done and over with, I fear that it might not even crack the top 10 games of 2008. Mario Kart Wii, Okami, Star Wars: Force Unleashed and whatever Nintendo has planned for this winter are much more exciting for me.
Had 4 friends over last night, all Smash Bros. fans but that don't currently own a Wii, and all of them became bored of the game within about an hour of playing. Subspace Emissary is just dull and the multiplayer is only fun for so long (maybe because I kept winning that it turned them off? not sure).
I'll continue to play until I unlock more characters, but I'll state it again, good game but nowhere near the hype level that was built for it.

The character's seem slower and some priorities have been improved or worsened. Some of the lamer moves of Melee aren't there anymore though and that's a relief.

Its a good game, but its fighting system isn't nearly as clean as Melee's. I'll still play the living shit out of it though. I can see myself playing it all the time right now but I'm pretty much done with the game except for maybe half of the unlockables.
I have to say though Subspace was overall pretty terrible, my brother and I found that it was better to just skip all the enemies instead of fighting them because it was so repetitive. And why in the world did they need the Final Fantasy guy to pen up a story? There was none! Just another marketing gimmick.
Disappointed as a tournament player of Melee, but as a party game I could get into it. To bad too, I put at least 200 hours into the original and even more into Melee because the fighting was so great.
Although this could all change with time if people find out that there is more depth to it than originally thought, we'll see.
Oh btw, I still can't find anyone in WFC, and from what people are saying its a throwaway too since its all 2 minute timed matches that lag and friend codes are in place with no voice chat when you play with friends. *Sigh*

Don't act like you won't be playing this 3 years from now. Have 4 friends and controllers together with a Wii? Smash will ensue. Just like it did on the Gamecube

I have a few gripes with this game, but it's still fucking awesome.
Let's hope the online starts working better soon.

I don't really think it's better or worse than Melee.... there is just more stuff...
certain things had cool changes....like the homerun contest and events with co-op....but nothing much has changed..... which is fine by me....
the only area I think that warrants a complaint is the online interface..... way shortsighted.....
unfortunately...that's not really Brawls fault....its Nintendo's.

I think this game is much better than Melee because it seems more balanced and fun. It seems like no character really has the 1-up on other characters and you can really win with any character, except for Olimar (or I havent' figured out how to use him). I really haven't had a chance to play this game all that much other than when I first bought the game. I got a new job and I've been extremely busy for the last few days. Well I do hope they add a patch or fix the online issues because when you play people they seem to lag like crazy and makes it damn near impossible to battle online. Well that's my brief opinion of the game as of now and from what I've played, which is very little.

Hate Pikachu's new Down Smash...

Are you serious? Considering how many Nintendo characters there are, it's never going to be enough.
And we're gamers, we're always bitching for more. I'm sure there's one or two characters you would of liked to see.

During the week I haven't had time for gaming because I work 12-hour shifts, so I've only played a bit here and there last weekend and then again last night, but I've really loved the game so far. I haven't played any online matches yet (not really into online play) but I've spent time in both the classic singleplayer and Subspace Emissary and enjoyed both. I'm again obsessed with collecting trophies, much as I was in Melee before. I've made a couple custom levels, too.
I don't have any complaints of the game at all. I love it through and through.

The game is great.
Needs a bigger character selection and different final smashes for Falco, Toon Link, Wolf and a few others.
So many character they could of included...
Daisy
Toad
Waluigi
Impa
Skullkid
Kunckle Joe
Minda
Dixie Kong
Cranky Kong
King K Rule
Dr Eggman
Knuckles
Shadow
Tails
Ninja Turtles - Woot
Bowser Jr
Slippy
Peppy
Deoxys
These are just some of the Characters that could of been included. They should have kept Mewtwo and Roy as well.
9.0 Overall.
