I had melee on gamecube after getting it at a pawn shop for 10$ but never really played it more then 10 mins or so at a time. Now I got brawl and am somewhat liking it. Just unlocked snake and after playing through some of SSE I quit out and I have an assist trophy of gray fox.

What are assist trophies? Just something to look at or does it have any purpose during gameplay?

Also, snake is awesome.

Another thing, what are some things i might need to know?

Nothing, you already know all.

Assist trophies show up during matches and you use the item and summon a character from a video game to aid you in battle for a while. It's totally random what character you get, and you can unlock more.

By the way, it's best to play thru SSE to unlock all characters. There are 35 characters total. 3 of which you can only easily get after beating SSE and then fulfilling other conditions.

There are also 41 stages and there are various ways to unlock those. Just keep playing.

SSE has bored me to tears. Honestly i have more fun having one on one matches with level 9 computers

Why does everyone hate SSE so much? I really loved it, every minute of it. I guess playing on co-op adds more depth/fun to it.

SSE gets repetitive and needs to be taken in small doses in my opinion but its still fun and the repetitiveness probably wouldn't be an issue if you're co-oping it.

I guess I need to try co-op because I can only play SSE for 2 or 3 stages at a time before getting bored.

Also new to the series. In fact, this is the first one I have ever played. I must admit, its a lot of fun so far.

I have only unlocked two characters so far; Marth and Ness. I have not played SSE yet either.

Snake is one of my favorites as well.

The key problem of SSE is its repetitiveness. Instead of putting so much focus on the SSE, the developers should have put more on the online.... just my opinion though.

Too bad Nintendo's online concept completely blows anyway.

But honestly, is anyone surprised at this?

You complain about that, and yet their online plan is the only way you can play Brawl, or the up coming Mario Kart. To be playing nintendo games online at all was completely unheard of a few years ago, but now it's happening. I've done it. Got the crap kicked out of me at Brawl online today since I'm a newb at Smash Brothers, and I loved it.

Yeah, but it could be way better then the friend codes stuff and could have actual communication during the games or something.

Mario Kart DS was out and playable online November 2005. Two-thousand-five. You're telling me that in 3 years, all Nintendo could do to improve their gaming online was add stupid pre-set messages. Even Metroid Prime Hunters and Pokemon on DS (f-ing Pokemon, even!) had voice chat. Don't excuse Nintendo's poor online service under the excuse that it sucked even more several years ago. Yes, it sucked then.. time to step it up.. and they just aren't.

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with that. After the initial novelty of online brawls faded I became fed up with them pretty quick. This WiFi system is insanely primitive compared to Live.

I'm referring to Mario Kart on Wii ofcourse that's not out yet. And maybe I should have said five years ago or something such as that. I don't like the friend codes either to be honest with you, and maybe your right. If I look at it from your angle, it raises more questions in my head, such as why they haven't changed things much since the DS came out? Just a shot in the dark, but it could be the issue of cost. They don't want to put the extra investment into it. I might be wrong though, but going back to what I said before, I only said it because I felt happy because I could finally play a nintendo game on a nintendo console with someone halfway across the country I didn't know, even though I couldn't voice chat with them. Tried to play it today though, and man. LLLLAAAAAAGGGGGG.

79% on SSE

I want all the fucking characters already.

It's better on co-op, otherwise, it's annoying and lonely-feeling.

Lucent is completely right.....but everyone knows that I have hated the online for some time now so I don't need to add any more insults...

I will say that I think they should come out with an extended service that you pay for that is basically like LIVE... you could download it via the wii shop channel and it would come with a system update that would allow for gaming without friend codes on certain games... additionally it would add a channel to the main menu that would be for downloadable content setting up tournaments, checking to see who's online, sending game invites and so on...

It would be an easy fix to a very annoying problem.... and it would add so much draw to the wii because besides graphics....great online is the only thing its missing.

Anyway.... D3adcell....

some things you should know....

adding wii friend codes will allow you to send and recieve custom stages and replay data....

try the practice mode.... you can test out all the items and practice everyones move sets....plus....

make sure to use aerial attacks a lot.....each character has their standard moves but in the air they change and each direction again is a different aerial attack (oh...without a direction is another move sometimes).... and for many characters these are some of the strongest moves....

I probably sound dumb giveing some of this advice because is so rudimentary....but meh.... just in case you dont know.....

you can perform a grab by pressing a while shielding....so sometimes a good strategy is to shield...press a direction to roll and get close to or behind an enemy ...then press a and throw them....

their are four different throws.....again....one per direction.

hope I didn't sound too stupid....or belittle you at all....just thought I'd try to help ya out.
