This will not be a machine where you push the 'A' button or 'B' button and move the direction pad, but a completely different way to interact with the device," said Hirokazu Hamamura, president of "Famitsu" game magazine publisher EnterBrain.

Just means the touch screen is gonna be used more than we thought.

I really don't like that comment... Right now it makes me think.. another gimmick. The vitua boy keeps appearing in my head

I think you misinterpreted that quote. It doesn't mean no buttons at all, it means that the way to use the machine will be different than anything else before.

Hey fellas....remember when I pointed out the gyroscopic control system developed by Nintendo?

*whistles*

PS: Do I even need to point out the price coments?

I do remember, but the whole idea can't be Tilt n' Tumble if there are two screens, with one being a touchscreen.

Viper

That's why there is still and A and B button.

Imagine a RTS.....use the stylus to select a group and tilt at a slight angle left and all he troops move left. Super Monkey Ball anyone?

The only game I can see that functionality working with would be something like Monkey Ball. Otherwise, it would be an extreme pain.

Viper

Not all games will use that....it's merely an option.

Imagine control with both a D-pad and gyroscopic. FPS that can straffe like no other FPS can.

Go back to a comment about "opening doors" This would make perfect sense, of which i have also stated many times. -so has Jimmy.

However, the size of the touch pad, dpad, or "ball mouse" would greatly affect how well it would work

You're getting both.

Quite nagging.

Viper is correct, it will have both, touch pad and A and B buttons, possibly X and Y as well. Not all games will use touch, but I'm sure many will because it could be very helpful in some games, and re-invent others like RTS. Both screens are to be 3" so, the touch screen will be pretty big (the current GBASP is slightly under 3" if that helps). The price mention there is pretty funny, Nintendo would never release a handheld for that price, I'm still thinking 149 or 99, tops.

Right now I am picturing kids holding these things and sporadically moving them all around, paying no attention to their surroundings.

I'm interested to see what uses they'll come up with for the touch screen besides RTS..

If developers (who usually appear not too excited with nintendo's decisions) are stoked on the DS, then I am stoked on the DS.

Why is this in the Gamecube forum?

I understand if it has to do with gamecube connectivity but...

oh well...

Gimmicky!!!

Viper

100 developers don't think it's gimmicky.

Virtual boy didn't have anywhere close to 100 developers signed on.
