Problems with E-mpire today

Hey guys.
I have trouble acessing the site today, it gives me a database error all the time and with a little bit luck i can go to the forum index and then nothing loads.
Im pretty astonished that i can make this topic here now...

Oh and i have this problem only here, every other site works fine.

Yea, it's happened a couple of times today. It happened earlier this afternoon, lasted maybe 10-15 minutes, then it happened again about an hour or two ago.

Everything is loading quite slowly for me when I first came back on here, but it seems fine now.

E-mpire is like the whole internet for me.

Lol I was the same way. When I get on the internet this is my homepage so I'm like hmm maybe the internet is teh fuckz. But than I did my ritual (gmail, dailytech, xbox.com to see who is on Live) and came back here and got the error again. Than I sat there and I'm like fuck, now what...lol

This place was my homepage for a couple of years, way back when.

I think every regular from PSINext has admitted their problem, at least to themselves. The sad thing is that this is one of the few sites I go to now, I really don't look around on the web that much anymore.

I occasionally use StumbleUpon when I'm bored, but there isn't anything from that that I visit regularly.

Some nights it's just E-mpire and Windows Media Player (for music) that's open on my PC/ browser.

The forums weren't the only place with a problem hence why I saw it was a server issue. And we've tried phpBB several times and puked all over it. Sure it can do a lot with hacks but managing things on the back end is an exercise in patience. Unless they've made some major advances in the past year to make it more intuitive, I'm not biting that hook again.

I have considered switching to phpBB instead of Simple Machines Forums to my small web project. I like SMF because, well, it's simple. Easy to use, not very taxing, and easy to mod. I also picked SMF a few months before phpBB released version 3. Since its release, I have been considering making the swap, but I just don't know what benefits it would really bring. I will probably just stick it out with SMF.
