I was powerless to resist PS3's goodies!

I think im going out and buying a ps3 this weeked, unless theres a bundle or something being released in the next couple of weeks or so. I was going to wait until GT5 and MGS4 came out, but im getting restless - ive got everything i wanted to get on ps2, and my laptop is 2 years old now, with a cooling fan on its last legs. My mate has a 360, and ive been playing COD4 at his place - to the point where none of my friends will play multiplayer with me because they lose too much (have to play halo 3, which is a lot more even :)).

But now with COD 4 being as great as it is (not a big fan of war type shooters, havent played any of the previous games, but this is amazing) and with GTA4 coming out soon, GT5 prologue out yesterday and a couple of launch titles coming down in price, i reckon i'll bite the bullet and get one (although it looks like i'll be playing in standard def for a bit longer yet - parents are thinking about a new TV soon, but in any case, screen resolution doesn't affect gameplay ;))

But just before i do, what are the chances of a new SKU or price drop in the next couple of months? is there any concrete info out there?

That's the only one worth something but I wouldn't wait, it IS a good time to get a PS3.
I have been catching up launch titles for cheap now and PSN games keeps you very busy.

That bundle sounds pretty awesome, i wasn't planning on getting a ps3 till next year originally, so i haven't really been paying attention to mgs4 release date....but just saw its due out in june. Earlier than i expected :)

And $500 in US probably translates to the same price it is here in australia...

I don't think there is anything soon other than maybe a GTA4 bundle? also I don't know how far DS3. check the release date for that and if it is close enough, get it with the system.

Australia tends to have the same stuff as eurpoe, in terms of regions its the same thing, but yeh, there are differences. Im pretty sure theres a prologue bundle out at the moment, was thinking of getting that.... i completely forgot about DS3 too, but i can always just wait until it comes out to buy another controller. a gta4 bundle sounds pretty good too, but its a game ill buy regardless of cost...hmmm.....to wait or not to wait...

Well its all set up now, and after installing firmware 2.16, im just waiting for prologue to install to the hdd, which gives me time for a meat pie and a beer :)

gt5 is awesome... don't know why the triggers aren't default accel/brake, but easily fixed. using the golf gti, shadows are amazing through the tunnel on the eiger norwand track.... although class c is waaay too easy...

GT5P has the most customizable controller options I have ever seen. every game should be like that.

Triggers are good for accelerate/decelerate on arcade games, GT5:P isn't an arcade game :) So easy an explanation.

Dual analogs are IMO the only way to drive on Sixaxis/DS3, where DS3 beats sixaxis by a couple of laps. Little by little thinking about selling my kidney for good steering wheel and an HDTV though. 1080P looks excellent on SDTV but knowing how much I miss makes me almost crazy.

well, i actually picked a fairly annoying time to get a ps3, cos im about to exceed my usage limit for the month (thanks telstra). it gets reset in the 2nd though, so ive only got a couple of days to wait before playing anything online. I also therefore haven't been bothered to set up wifi. I'll try and do it today, rest assured, when it happens, ill post my id :)

i actually find triggers easier than the analog stick, its easy to get the pressure right (even though its like having one foot on the throttle and one on the brake). Although, technically, steering wheels are for race sims, not controllers.

Im with you 100% with the HDTV situation, hopefully ill have one sooner than later, but even so, its been awesome so far...

Online gaming only takes around 10MB of internet usage in 2 hours or so.
So don't worry about it contributing too much to your monthly usage.

Also, has anyone heard anything about "army of two"? when i bought the ps3 the guy at game was talking it up, saying how it was a must have title, etc. etc. Personally i thought it looked like another shooter clone, but perhaps i missed something?

The triggers arent default because for 10 years we've been playing GT with the face buttons. Personaly I will continue to use the face buttons, I prefer them over triggers for sims. arcade games like Motorstorm I dont mind the triggers.
