tonight I read at CAG that walmart is having a deal this week for fathers day, buy any blu ray player and receive a 100$ gift card, including the ps3. Well just so happens that the MGS4 bundle comes out this week. So if i can get that bundle and the gift card and then trade the gift card with someone for 100$ it's like paying 400$ for it all.

I have to go back to the doctors at 12:00 thursday, but my mom said we can stop at Gaemstop when it opens. And I'll only be in the doctors for a few minutes so then I can go back home and play MGS4. Also, I'm going to get the guide for collectors purposes and for the neat 8X10 lithograph. :D With that said my other purchases will be Lego Indiana Jones and Condemed 2:Bloodshot.

I kept getting fucked up during Act 3, and that damn Resistance fellow. Act 3 is what keeps this game from being a perfect experience for me.

This is NOT the longest MGS for me, that was MGS3, logging in at 21 hours I believe (mainly due to many deaths lol).

Come to think of it, I think MGs2 was longer too, it was just under 20hours I think.

But MGS4 is defintely the best experience, my MGS rating goes:

I got Eagle as well. And I got a couple of medals. One was about me using the tranq gun alot.

I think it has to do with the fact that every time I would shoot somebody while in stealth, I would be using the tranq gun, and I would always aim for the head. So it is like two birds with one stone lol.

If you don't like Act 3, blame Shinta Nojiri, he was responsible for that Act and he wanted to make it different, I think it was awesome -- it broadened MGS4's experiences even more :-D

No kills (not even on bosses or any other time), no health items used, no special items used, less than 5 hours, no alerts, must be on The Boss Extreme Mode

That's going to take me a while.

Number 2 and 3 are probably the alternate versions of those. 3 and 5 or less alerts respectively, Big Boss Hard and Normal respectively I think. Number 2 is Foxhound, Number 3 is Fox I think.

The item you get after getting the Big Boss medal though... it's hawt.

On Hard mode, I stun killed every boss. Only at the third Beauty did I realise they leave you statues at the end of each fight. I would've got another item when I finished the game :(

There are a number of things I didn't like about the ending... :(

Up until you beat the shit out of Liquid and kill him, I thought everything was absolutely perfect.

I didn't like how they turned Zero into the bad guy. I wish the bad guy was simply made the CIA and other Major US Agencies which work above the government.

My ideal ending was this....

Meryl realises she still loves Snake after her nanomachines are gone (which would be unreasonable, because nanomachines only let people do the most logical and reasonable thing I guess) and leaves with Otacon, Sunny and Snake all together.

As you can see I couldn't care any less about the Meryl Johnny thing. The scene in Outer Haven was cool, but I think it should've stopped there and Meryl goes back with Snake. This is my Final Fantasy/Disney Movie perfect ending mindset working here and I think it would've been way more awesome.

I like how Jack got back with Rose, although the scene was kind of poorly done and that bothered me. Why? Because the entire game was absolutely perfect pretty much until after you kill Liquid and his spirit leaves Ocelot.

Also, Donald Anderson is not Sigint, and Paramedic didn't help create the Patriots either. Patriots was completely a CIA + US Agency thing to make the whole world secure. Zero, Big Boss, Sigint, Paramedic, Ocelot all found this out and fully understood The Boss' will from the after being foiled by Solid Snake a second time in Metal Gear 2. Liquid takes Ocelot's body and is the only one who does not understand The Boss' will so he does his stuff. Big Boss manages to escape after Metal Gear Solid 2 because they think Solidus' body is hidden and because his body is made frmo other people's body parts, and he comes back in the end to tell Snake all of this once the AI is destroyed. He couldn't before come to Snake as being interacting with him would screw them both over with the virus Snake is carrying I guess.

Zero and Big Boss cooperated, Zero, Paramedic, Sigint all died fighting in between Metal Gear 2 and Metal Gear Solid. Big Boss escapes the entire world and comes back after you have destroyed the AI system.

I think my ending is much better. :D

curry, I don't think they made Zero the bad guy, I don't think anyone was a "bad guy", it was just everything was going wrong and everyone was doing things for their own reasons (mostly to please Big Boss) and everyone had different interpretations of that.
I thought it was a very large field to take in and sent many messages.

Even Zero's intentions were pure when all that was created but as it is with life, everyone takes things differently and when so many powerful figures have different opinion on things, everything gets ugly.


The only thing I didn't like about the ending was how BigBoss repeated SEVENTY BILLION FUCKING TIMES! how Snake should just carry out a normal life.
I guess Hideo REALLY wanted us to know that Snake won't be doing anymore missions lol

It's just...

I don't like now that I look at Zero from MGS3 he is this not very ideal commander anymore. Why would Zero take the Legacy? Why would he feel he was the one that should lead The Boss' revolution over the word? His decisiion to do that doens't make sense to me.

Big Boss tried to save the world in one way and failed. Solid Snake came and saved the world in a way that The Boss really wanted. There was the only difference in idealogy I believe since MGS1 to 3 and I think it should've stayed that way.

The difference in idealogy was always between Solid Snake and Big Boss the entire series. And then it was between Solid Snake and Liquid Snake. I don't believe there was any purpose or reason or rightful place to also include a Zero versus Big Boss in there as well.

If I put Zero on the side of Big Boss' actual fight..... fighting against the 'system' that the controllive USA Agencies put in place and only that, that is consistent with the Zero I think Zero should've been. To me it seems that Kojima chose Zero to do this simply because of his alias... zero...

That pretty much makes Big Boss + Zero the precursor to Philanthropy... the less politically correct version of philanthopy, and the less 'mutual respect and humanistic' version of philanthropy, and therefore the one in the story that should fail and be foiled by the better plan by Solid Snake....

It also makes them make a mistake because they tried to use nuclear war to reset the world.

They should've just done what Solid Snake and Otacon did but of course they didn't. Again, that is the overarching theme of difference in idealogy like Big Boss says at the end. It's about respecting the will of others and believing in the will of yourself right, which he finally figures out, and which Solid Snake used to save the world.

That was always the difference in idealogy. Always between Big Boss and the system, then between Snake and Big Boss, then between Snake and Liquid, and finally Snake versus the ultimate enemy of the whole series... the AI System. That is the advancement of the series is it not? To make Zero 'the absolutely largest old fool' is an insult to his character in my opinion.

In my alternate ending, Zero keeps the same integrity that Big Boss and Liquid keep, to always free themselves from the controllive system. And the CIA and the Patriots, which in my opinion we should never ever know who they are, are the unknown enemies that we finally defeat in MGS4... freeing all of Big Boss, Liquid, and Solid Snake, just like the real ending.

Next part is separate.

And ya, the ending dragged on. The ending in fact all together.... maybe it would've been better to simply not close the holes and let the player decide what really happened. Like Shadow of the Colossus. Otherwise they could've told us Rose went back to Raiden in a much quicker fashion. Just 'show it' for like 5 seconds. Like show Rose smile at Raiden.. and then a kid there... and bam.. Done.

The whole Rose/Raiden/Raiden boy scene was too overdone. Meryl getting married was overdone. At least I have respect for Big Boss so I could enjoy the drawn out scene there with his relation to Solid Snake. But still it was too long.

I think all that was truly necessary to show us was that Snake left with Sunny and Otacon to live out his last days. The aspects of the ending honestly don't matter to me except for this and Big Boss speaking to Snake at the end.

The marriage scene was stretched "on purpose" to let the player linger in doubt longer of what happened to Snake. At least, that's my "cinematic" take on it.

The Raiden/Rose scene was TOO long imho. Kojima basically made an uncool character (MGS2) made him cool (MGS4) and then made him uncool again (ending to MGS4). YES, we get it Raiden, you have nothing to live for... or DO you? Ohh, it was just a ploy... and your kids thinks you're cool... WTF... WE GET IT

And the ending... wow... I dunno, the revelations were just too much for me to bear... It's just... impossible for me to comprehend all of that in one go.

I hope, if we get another MG game, Drebin will be shown further... I liked him... And seeing as this was all a setup by the Patr10ts, there will be further games... it just has to happen!

Curryking that's a very self-centered critique. Most of your beefs start with, I would have expected, or I wanted this to be like this. But it ain't your story! So YOU SWALLOW IT!

It wasn't that the supporting characters from MGS3 who created the Patriots weren't honorable people. Down the line they became misguided or lost focus. It happens. You expected a very deus ex machina ending, which was silly to expect from Kojima in the first place.
Everything must make sense.
Everyone falls in love.
Everyone must do as I expected in the first place.

And a personal aside, I didn't think Raiden's part went on too long. I got a real sense of that tension between him and Rose, and him having to get over it. Had he any faster it would have seemed less convincing I think. Just the final ending with Big Boss dragged a wee little bit imo.
