First Beautiful Screenshots for Gothic IV: Arcania
Here are some of the game's first details:

? Fully titled Gothic 4: Arcania (as opposed to the previous subtitle Genesis).

? Story set 10 years after the third title and located on various southern islands, each having different climate zones and its own flora & fauna.

? Same as in previous titles, there'll be a hidden place (temporarily blocked by a magical shield/barrier).

? Weather changes, full day and night cycle plus the ability to temporarily cast a spell and change the time of day (e.g. from day to night when you need to slip past guards unnoticed).

? Aside few NPCs from the previous title, some monsters will have a fresh look (however, trolls look the same as in Gothic III).

? With the ability to climb and ride on beasts.

? Aiming for continuity, developers have gone through fan wishes on the forums and are planning on integrating some of them.

? Fully DirectX 10 compatible with advanced shader technology: standing under a tree, not only light will be realistically dimmed, but looking up into the sky, you'll see the sun behind partially transparent leaves.

Gothic 4: Arcania for PC, X360 and PS3 hasn't got a release date yet, it'll be done "when it's done" and won't miss out on this year's Game Convention.

The first couple of screens don't look like screenshots. The rest look pretty good though. Nothing mind blowing.

Of course, the real beauty will show when these scenes are viewed in motion.

Well the first screens and trailer from Bugthic 3 were also insane, the rest is history.
1 & 2 are great RPGs, so i hope they dont screw this up AGAIN!
At least its a new dev team.

Bugthic 3? Is that a typo or what they really call it because it was buggy?

I call it that way, you could also call it "Bugthic: The Legend of the Clipping Error" or "GoSick, because of bugs".

EDIT: I have one more left: "Gothic 3: Twice as much bugs like in Starship Troopers"

Ok. I almost sprayed my drink when I first read it thinking that might be the worst game name ever published....right up there with Escape from Bug Island.

I like the first two paintings and the in game stuff looks peaceful.

What kind of game is this? What kind of freedom of movement does the character have? The tree alone in the last pic is insanely high detailed.

Nevermind, just noticed it's for PC too so these are probably PC shots.

And touched-up ones at that, I think. Ridiculously high AA too.

The game really has a visual theme akin to Stalker for the PC. It also gives that, "I rendered a scene with an unnecessary amount of polygons" type of feeling.

Well... Gothic basically is the predecessor to the Elder Scrolls series in third person... (at least I think Gothic 1 was released before Elder Scrolls), so you usually have complete freedom to do anything you like...

Problem with all Gothic games were, that their publisher (Sunflower, afaik) were always nearly bankrupt and their developer (Piranha Bytes) weren't the fastest (or rather "perfectionists"), so neaerly all games were released buggy... after several patches, they became playable (sadly, G3 was not patched to a playable status).

I liked those games (I preferred them over Oblivion, tbh), but they had their fair share of problems (REALLY sucky fight controls and very high hardware usage).
